Thread: Is 12 ability slots the max?
You can train him up and find out if he dosent list as fully trained you know you still have a ways to go.
From my experience special rewards pets get 1 less ability slot then normal pets. Obviously this carries over to the kashyssk rewards. Maybe an attempt to keep these pets biolinked to the people who did the quests. or bought the expansions.
Ok, I'm a bit confused on the explanation, sorry. ![]()
This is the first pet I've started to train up completely. So is it supposed to say "fully trained" where all the other pet info like learned commands, health, damage, ect... is?
Right now my varactyl has 360 skill points and 11 available slots. I havn't trained it anything. Also, this is a bought varactyl, I'm not the original owner.

Ummmm as soon as you train the last ability slot unlocked it will always say fully trained. Ex. If you only unlock one and train the pet it will say fully trained. That is why in the revamp guide it says to always leave one pet ability slot open or you will not gain any further ability slots is there are any left to gain.
I read through the stickies and didn't see a revamp guide. Could you post a link to that guide please?
Thanks for replying folks! ![]()

Sorry, this is definitely wrong.
I have a shear mite soldier (doesn't everyone? we need more CL70 wild pets) with 8 slots unlocked, taught it 8 abilities.
The display says: Ability points: 0
After the next rollover, I got another point. Taught it Aggression L3, again 0 points left. Rolled it over another time, once again 1 slot open.
Yep, it doesn't say 'fully trained' until you've unlocked and trained every possible slot.

This is all new information not included in the Sticky about pet abilities which suggests a maximum of 9 ability slots for a CL61-70 pet, and states that wild innate abilities do not reduce the total level of abilities a pet can have.
Can you please comment on the nature of your pets for us? The Varactyl is presumably a CL65 quest pet, and the Bull Rancor must be wild - did it have an innate with it MrAdept?
Also, remember that just because your Varactyl has 11 doesn't mean mine does - wild tames are not made equal and some have more slots that others. This may also be true for quest pets.
If this is the case, then your veractyl has all the ability slots he will ever get. However, you can still train him for skillpoints until all 11 slots are filled.
