Well, he gets no special treatment from me because he's a blue glowie: Good Riddance.
There are two types of people in SWG: The people who want the impossible, ie, the current system in a working state, and will b*tch and moan regardless of what they do. NEWSFLASH: They have been trying to make the current system work for two years, it just wont.
Then there are those of us who just want enjoyable combat, and dont give a flying f**k what form it takes as long as its balanced and engaging.
Guess what, I have no respect at all for people who fit into type-one.

You won't ever hear me asking for special treatment. I liked the biggest perk available to me as a Corr/BG, which was access to the draft version of the public documents that everyone would eventually see by way of the Correspondent Forum. Of course, now that this has been taken away all I have is a dark blue name that is the virtual equivilant of a 70s child TV star making a public appearance ("Hey, didn't you used to..."). So special treatment is neither wanted nor received.
No, my post is merely the observation of a person who has been on the 'inside' of the CU since shortly before the now infamous Austin Summit last August. I do not make my comments lightly as I'm sure a few prevalent posters from back then could attest seeing as how myself and pretty much every single Correspondent walked away from that meeting with high hopes and smiles on our face. Fast forward to today and ask those same Correspondents what they think. I think you'll find the results surprising.
And I'm sure the CU will turn combat into what it should be. Problem is that I'm already playing a game that works the same way and has done so since Day 1. And personally speaking, I think they are a much better fit for it due to how the game is structured. How will it work in SWG? I'd like to know, but since we skipped Closed Beta and went straight into Open Beta, then your assessment is as good as mine.

So if "your assessment is as good as mine", why are you posting "OMG EQ2 IN SPACE!!!1"? I was around back at the time of the Austin Summit, and I do remember the Corrs being excited. Looks to me like they still are, in the main. Of course, I dont have access to the Corr forums, but what they have posted seems positive.
Of course, that is the current set of Corrs. When I was referring to special treatment, I meant that your opinion does not mean any more to me than any of the other whiners who keep using the "EQ2 IN SPACE OMG!!11" line. Like I say, some of us want to play a game with a working combat system, and it doesnt matter to us what form that system takes because we only care about two things:
1. Combat is fun.
2. This is a Star Wars game.
Maybe thats not enough for you, but its certainly enough for me, and going by the posts all over the forums, its enough for just about everyone else too.

I say that because I'm currently playing EQ2 and I see every single metric used in that game sprinkled throughout the current set of CU docs. I'm not saying it's bad for the game, I'm saying that it works better in a game that was built from the ground up to support that style. In the end I'd love nothing more than to come back 3-6 months from now and find a game that's worth playing on all levels. These documents, coupled by a few other events and an impending release date not even 5 weeks away tell me that we're in for another few months of tweaks and balancing. But hey, you'll at least have the system won't you?

I agree with tray. However I have been playing this game much longer than EQ2 so im staying with this one even though the systems will be very similar.

A working system that needs some tweaks is infinitely superior to a totally broken system which is beyond help, so yes, I am glad that we'll have the system. Im not here becase SWG had a "unique combat system"(ooooh, it has three health bars and you can kill yourself without any outside help...), Im here because it's a Star Wars MMO. I honestly dont give a stuff what system they use, as long as its fun it doesnt matter, because the combat system is only there to facilitate.
Lets break it down into more detail.
Current system:
Grinding - Is done alone, takes very little time unless doing FS or Jedi experiance and is, ulimately, boring beyond belief.
Hunting - Is done alone, provides no challenge and therefor no satisfaction.
Looting - Is done alone(anyone else noticing a theme here?) unless doing the DWB or Corvette, and then only because the NPCs simply have too much HAM for a solo player to kill before they die to the rediculously overpowered attacks they dish out.
PvP - Is limited to a handful of professions which are totally out of balance with all the others, and even then des not come down to skill, but how many credits you have spent buying CA/AA and DoT/Exceptional weapons.
Armours - Well, I should say Armour, seeing as there is really only one type worth using, after you've used Ubese to grind your profession in three days max, almost everyone switches to Comp.
Like I say, I would rather have a new and involving system like the CU RIGHT NOW than put up with this bollocks for a moment longer.

I am wondering why I continue paying for this game, given the devs track record with patches, not to mention that this patch is a major upheaval of the entire game.
Now hearing something such as this from someone who was very supportive of this game makes me seriously consider hitting that cancel button. The negatives just out-weight the positives unfortunately...

I have been here since release and I think May 5 will be my last day. To the person who points out that most stuff is done alone in the game, you are not entirely correct. Yes, most thinks can be done solo but that does not mean you have to. I was around when SOE kept trying to force players to group. It was a disaster. You had Ninja looting, people who were clueless ruining the entire group, and many other problems. Wait till you have to stand at a starport for a few hours because you can not find one key player for your group. Most people, not in large guilds, spent more time trying to get a group together than actually playing. That is why the concept was changed.
What will get me to hit the cancel button is the new skill point changes. I play MCH/MTK with some Medic for healing, and some Artisan for Surveying and mining. I have to pay the bills some way. My alt is MSW, Novice Merchant, MTK, and Novice Medic. Neither are close to Uber builds, nor do they have any SP left. I will not redo my characters again. I also will not be forced into grouping because I am 24/7 in RL and can not guarentee that I will be at the keyboard for 3 or 4 hours without interruption.

I see this argument a lot, and its a load of rubbish. Im on a fast-track college course at the moment, meaning I have to do a year's worth of work in six months, and I dont have that much free time to spend on SWG. An hour, perhaps two on weekdays and a buff or two's worth on weekends. I had even less time when I first started the game, as I was taking exams at the time. I managed to find groups all the time.
Your argument doesnt work because of one main reason: if grouping is the best option, then there will always be lots of groups. When grouping up was the best way to level, there was a squill hunt leaving bestine every ten minutes, full groups of actual players.
Like it or not, this is an MMO, and it's NOT about solo players. For every solo player that leaves after the CU, there will be a vet like me and two new players joining up to enjoy a working, entertaining combat system.

I dont know how populated Chimera is but try stopping by one of the less populated servers like valcynsometime and tell me how easy it will be to find a group.
