Thread: Special Attack Groupings

I saw some discussion in another thread about predicting what has the higher level special one might want by looking at what the lower level creatures have. There was certainly a trend and after pouring over the list, and I think swgcreatures will confirm this one way or another once the database is updated.

From what I can see, there are six groups of three specials and three groups of two (or the third is yet to be found in these three):

Aggression /Intimidating Attack / Self-sacrifice
Bleeding Attack / Frenzied Blitz/ Panicked Rage
Combat Agility / Frenzied Assault / Hunted Withdrawl
Cowering Vigilance / Defensive Agility / Thick Skin
Eye Gouge / Knockdown / Staggering Attack
Imperiling Feint / Marring Storm / Precision Strike

Beastly Constitution / Vigorous Health
Fleet Footed / Hamstring
Guarded Stance / Lightning Reflexes

If the report of the giant pharple are correct, then the Beastly Con / Vigorous Health group may have Aggression as a third special.

This is speculation, however if these groups hold true and is a Pinning Attack is in the game, then it will likely be found in one of the last two lines.

The only flaw I see in this is that the one acknowledgment of pin attack is from a giant angler and anglers have thick skin L2

Great work Seiryuu,

I noticed that SWG Creatures has begun to update its files as well. This should help us all to narrow down which animals to tame for specific specials.

Has that been verified? I'm suspicious.

I saw that too. Since no one else has seen Pin Attack, I'm waiting for the screenshot or more confirmations before I believe it.

There could possibly be other groupings that are not yet apparent, due to rarity or whatnot. Aggression would fall under two groupings if the giant pharple falls into the same category as bagerasets. As I said, eventually we can figure these out from the data, but at least for the time being, these seem to hold given what we know at the moment.

Now that we have this, we can look to see if it holds true or if there is another pattern.

What happens if there is no pattern and it is all completely random with circles within circles and ven diagrams illustrating multiple associations between a plethora of permutations?

Updated with latest 'Pet Specials' postings. There are certainly errors here. The number of 'errors' is low enough, I think, to be due to unintentional reporting errors by posters to ravingbanthas 'Pet Specials' thread. Some creatures seem to belong to one group at one level and another group at another level. In my opinion, any indication that a creature appears in two different groups at the same level is probably due to errors. Without a doubt, these groupings have been extremely useful to me and others, even if there are a few exceptions to the rule. Perhaps the devs just made some errors themselves.

You may want to grab the small grouped list of specials and post it ahead of the longer one so people can start remembering the pairings. It will also act as a quick reference on where to look in the long list.
