Not that I know of yet. I have tamed a ton of L1 and L2 pets as well as others and no one has found Pinning Attack L1 or L2.

Supposedly someone found Pin L3 on a Giant Angler. No proof to back up the claim though. I have tamed several Giant Anglers myself and have only gotten Thick Skin L2 on them. Gonna keep trying and hope to at least find Pin L3 and be able to provide some proof that L3 exists or not.

If I get a Giant Angler with Pin L3 on Gorath server you can be sure I'll be showing it off to other CH's liike Archiie in order to back up my claim, as well as screen shots (but those can be faked as we have seen).

If anyone gets a Pet with any level of Pin attack I would suggest you post a time you will be online and what server and location on that server so we can all stop by to look at the lil bugger in a trade window to verify your claim. This is the only thing that will convince me it is in game short of finding it myself.

It's possible, but as we have no solid confirmations even guessing is difficult.

From the data entered on swgcreatures, the Giant Angler follows the Cowering Vigilance / Defensive Agility / Thick Skin grouping. (See this thread for details on special grouping.)

If the special grouping theory holds true and giant anglers really do give Pinning Attack L3, then it seems pets can have two sets of groups. A Ranger looking at the Bark Mite Queen does see three types of specials (Area, Combo, and meleeattack1 I believe), so it is possible. Until we see one for sure, we just cannot know and predicting what else might have it is nearly impossible.

My theory ... developers decided a "pinning attack" would be unbalancing and did not implement it in live!

The Bloodseeker mite queen attacks should not be confused with the innate specials found in wild creatures or those trained to creatures. These special attacks are base attacks and are used irrespective of trainable specials.

All CH creatures have the base special attack (meleeattack), some have (areaattack), only the bloodseeker mite queen has the (areacombo attack). The way special attacks are listed on SWG is very confusing as a result especially to rangers. The examine system only ever lists the three generic attacks and never the trainable specials.

The bloodseeker mite still has the three trainable innate pool like other pets, but this system is unrelated to the special attacks (melee, area and areacombo)

I understand that most pets don't work exactly like the Queen, however we don't know for sure how the devs implemented them and this is the closest example I have. They could be filling similar slots, or new hidden ones. The "meleeattack1" might be the new specials as it showed up with Publish 21 as far as I am aware.

My basic point was that there is too much we don't know and even suggesting where to look for Pinning Attack is a stab in the dark.

QFE I would think that if it was a root and it worked like Hamstring you could chain root and that was very unbalancing so it has been shelved for now.

Is it possible that this ability could be found in another animal? If you and others are looking only at this one, could it be safe to say it could be found somewhere else??

Or was it listed somewhere "only found here ( Giant Angler)"?

Good point! Would this not be a easy one the corospondent. " Is there a Pinning attack "

Which should be easy enough for a dev to answer Yes or No.

What is Pinning attack supposed to do anyway?

The one found on the gaint angler is supposed to be level 3 which means without knowing where1 and2 are dont waste your time. I wonder if its not on something werid that no one really tames?

Getting the intimdation 2 attack from the stintral scavenger took me about 3 days of hardcoretaming they kept giving up all other attacks but that one. It's much easyer to get it from the gurnaset hatchlingtho I didnt know that at the time. My point is if this attack is on somthing werid that know one really tames and it's hard to get thecreature to give it up it might be awhile before it is found...... or like has already been said it might have never made it live.

Your best bet would be to pretend its not live and dont worry with looking for it if its out there somone will stumble on it eventually, Tho if there's a 3 then there is also a 1 & 2 somewhere.

1. The attack dosent exist period.

2. You all are missing one other ability found on giant anglers and that is guarded stance L3 which blows a hole in your grouping theory.

3. I have tamed hundreds of giant anglers on yavin this proves its not the case.

Stop spreading rumors and gossip about this thing the giant angler person is just lying and getting attention for it.

Im with Hardley on this one. What i dont understand is why we seem unable to get a Dev to give us a simple yes or no on whether it is or isnt in the game. Heck there are some others as well that we need confirmation on. A full list of what is or isnt available would be greatly appreciated. We dont even need to know what gives what, just knowing if they are possible is good enough.

I am strongly inclined to agree Pinning Attack does not exist, unfortunately it is difficult to prove the absence of something.

You all are missing one other ability found on giant anglers and that is guarded stance L3 which blows a hole in your grouping theory.

From Scooter's list of everything posted on the specials thread:

Giant Angler,Yavin,68,Cowering Vigilance,3
Giant Angler,Yavin,68,Defensive Agility,2
Giant Angler,Yavin,68,Pinning Attack,3
Giant Angler,Yavin,68,Thick Skin ,2

Do Giant Anglers have Guarded Stance L3? I'm not saying they do not, but the master list I use as a general guideline does not have it listed. If you have tamed hundreds of Giant Anglers, what about this list above is or is not correct?

It doesn't blow any grouping theories away though. Keep in mind the groupings were compiled mostly around the L1 specials where I have seen nothing to contridict it. The higher levels seem to follow the trend and swgcreatures will back this up (even the Giant Angler from this list at least). However, an important part of the theory says there may be undiscovered groups (of which I have yet to see any, but I certainly cannot rule it out).
