Thread: Pet perma Death
I think it it would be a good idea.
Keep's BE's in business and gives CH's a reason to hunt down new creatures to tame.
you don't have to regain those skill points its just like buying a new gun.

Really you mean you need skill points to handle a ATST???
cool so the best pet in game requires a profession to handle??? which profession is it?
I know it's not CH because then I would have a ATST
/scarsam off
They took permadeath out for pets because it isn't that easy to get a pet. You can look on you map to find a weapon vendor, or get your gun repaired.
Pets take time and dedication to find.
Picture being TEF'ed with your pet out and someone comes along and kills your pet that you spent 1 week finding. (we all know how useless pets are in PvP). it would be a whole new way to grief a CH, as if there aren't enough now.
Also what if you had it where the higher level CH you are the less time it takes your pet to grow. Also BE made pets would grow at a accerated Rate.
My question is this once you get all the pets you what or need whats the point of being able to tame pets why not have to contune to capture and train pets because the one yous had wore out in battle.
Also maybe you could have it where a pet can only be knocked out a total number of times within its life before it dies' it just seems to me people want things to do in the game but don't want any extra hassle.
Pets can be looked upon like weapons, weapons degrade over time with use, so do pets. When a pet is KO'd it looses vitality which after a while degrades the creatures HAM stats. Creatures with perma death would be equivalent to loosing your weapon when you are killed, so if you are happy with loosing your weapon after each death then you can say that creatures should suffer perma death but not before. Well you could say it but it would just be hypocritical and silly.
With reference to the comparison between creatures and AT-ST's, what were you thinking?!?!?
An AT-ST is a FACTION perk, you gain the ability to control pets from an ELITE PROFESSION, AT-ST perma death is due to the fact that you don't need any skills to use one. Lets not even get into comparisons between Rebel and Imperial faction perk balancing.
It took weeks to get that precious AT-ST did it (which I assume just got all blowed up), ask Tivo how it has taken him to get to MCH and how long it has taken looking for a Bull Rancor.
Have we Creature Handlers not been hurt badly enough already?
To put it in the immortal words of Will Shakespear (paraphrasing and if were a CH)
If you bash us over the head with the nerf club do we not bleed? If you introduce more pointless mounts into an already bugged system do we not laugh? If a CM area poisons us do we not die? If you wrong us shall we not seek revenge?
Well we may not seek revenge but we will post about it buddy.
In closing I'd like to fade out with a song:
Culture Club, Do You Really Want To Hurt Me
"Chorus:
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry"
You know the words sing along,
"Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry"
1st : more then stupid idea (personal opinion)
2nd: cant compare with at st
3rd: instead of nerf more make better faction pets NOT perma dead instead of Ch pets perma grrr
4th: remove high lvlpet making comletely from bio eng, i became early days CH when bio engs where bugged to hell, i loved to own pets which i actually tamed in the wilderness that was the fun of the CH class and to be proud of pets not every jack a.. has without real work or risks. i was happy to tame my rancors instead of just buy one. bio engs make a big cash now with tissues for chefs and tailors, also they should be able to produce non ch pets and mountable pets, but thats it in my opinon.
pets are for pvp anyways a joke and die in seconds.
dont u think Ch got since beta more then enough nerfs? go and cry nerf on the TKA , rifleman and Cm boards, there it fits way better.
all cried for month nerf Ch long ago and we got nerfed like mad. now actually a TKA is way more powerful then a Ch and u know what he spends even lesser skillpoints to get nov rofl. big time joke here in the system

What if they lowered the time it took you to grow a pet to full grown but added perma death.

I don't like your idea. How about this one instead:
Say someone makes a badass gun that costs millions in game credits. The guy dies and the gun goes bye bye, never to return to the owner. I like that idea better. Do you like that idea?
By the way. News flash dude. My job in this game is not to keep BEs in money, wine, women and song. My job in this game is to have fun my way. And if you are atrue blueCH and not a grind-for-the-week CH then you already like taming and need no external stimulus to go seek out andtame something.

seems most CH's are laszy why shouls someone that spent a week getting a at-st have perma death and yet someone can have a rancer knocked out plenty of times and not die. I could understand if it took days to get a rancor but it doesn't. if they don't ahve perma deaths for creatues why not have a repair droid to fix your at-st's
I was also a master carbineer for about 5 months and I went through guns left and right. True, I didn't have to hunt them down and tame them, but I did have to run a ton of dangerous missions to earn the money to pay for them. My guns degraded whether or not I was incapped and worst of all, trying to fix a gun could result in it falling appart, totally destroying it. I could try to loot guns or some of the high-quality components in making them, or I could avoid it completely and just go to a weaponsmith. Same could be said about CH's. You can brave the wilds and tame your own pets or you could just avoid it and go to a BE. I know there are puritst who will only use pets that they have tamed themselves.. I'm one of them
I don't think pets should suffer perma-death on their 1st incap, but I do believe that their vitality degredation should be GREATLY accelerated. Maybe 20 points or so per incap. With vitality stims available I don't think that it would be as drastic as it might sound. They would still be useful for many months if used with reasonable care.
At the same time i think this would need to be balanced out by making most, if not ALL cl70 or less creatures tameable to add sorely needed variety. I also think the rates for the rares should be made MUCH more accesable... ie. You should be able to tame one with a week or two of persistant hunting, not the 1 in 1000 rate that it is now. It's just pointless. Even if you did tame a bull rancor at its current spawn rate would you use it? I know I wouldn't. I'd be afraid of using it!
