Thread: To those thinking of dropping CH...

...you might want to rethink that.

In the upcoming "combat rebalance", the devs have stated that the only profession that isn't going to be changed (provisionally) is CH. While this may not appear good on the surface, think about it.

Many things will be reduced or altered (e.g., weapons, armor, skills, buffs, HAM, attack speeds, etc...) which will basically set us all back several notches. Don't bother stockpiling since these changes will be retroactive. When this happens, having creatures will become vital.

If you don't see the importance in having pets now, you will. If you quit now, you'll regret it.

comp armor is getting taken down to 60 percent. whoopdeedo. still higher than most creatures. weapons are being taken down a couple hundred damage points. so a power hammer no longer does 3k with a strike, it does 2.5k now. So instead of our level 60 rancors getting taken down in 10 seconds it'll be 20.

i for one think the devs will fumble.............

the above post should make no sense, should be offensive, and should get flamed. the ideas contained herein should be absurd and insane. If for some reason the above post shows compassion, intelligence, sanity, or kindness I highly suggest you run like hell, a major change has just ripped through the world.

They haven't made any specific mention on what was being changed for the rebalance (or I missed it somewhere).

Let's say you right slapjack...if my pets can last twice as long...more power to em!

That would give me twice as long to come up with alternative tactics, or do something else during the battle...like HEAL is more...or fight myself, etc.

Im trying to hold on to CH until then. It is hard considering im stronger than my pets already. Having said that, I dropped the trapping line(and Master) of scout a couple nights ago to work on Brawler unarmed. Not sure what to do after that, might try to finish my holo which said TK but im a CH at heart and always have felt that TK "stole my job" (southpark voice) and have thus far refused to follow the holocron just because it had the audacity to say TK to me. I Have been a CH since early early Feb. and love my pets.

If the combat balance helps us out it would be interesting to see what happens. I for one would like the opportunity to try PvP. Im not asking to be uber, just not a laughable putz on the battlefield. If im going to be a "support class" atleast enable me to be supportive.

also .... they should add farting sounds to our pets. Everyone know that animals do that, my dog nearly killed me last night lol

ironically, i posted about this and got the same reactions. I think everything will get better for the MCH, however, I am getting bored with the game. if I tame a Bull, I will probably not play for a while.

Repeat after me

- I will not drop CH

- I will not drop CH

- I will not drop CH
- I will not drop CH

- I will not drop CH

I will not drop CH, right now I am working on reaching Master Pistoleer.

MCH / MP and a few Medic boxes, that's it, and then I hope that the Combat Balance will not be too far away

^ with an attitude like that, why even bother to play? or post? or care? Even your signiture demonstrates your apathy. If you are clearly trying to show everyone that you don't care, then why should we care what you think?

correction. people who dont care, dont complain. And what does my attitude have to do with what i'm saying when i speak the truth? thats like that movie where the guy says we're screwed in a downtroden voice, and his friend gets on his ass so he says we're screwed like he just won the lottery. it doesnt matter wether you say it like its a good thing or a bad thing. Because even saying a bad thing like its a good thing doesnt make it a good thing. see watch!

/happy ch isnt good for anything right now!

there, now, do you think anyone feels better about ch because the emote on it was /happy?

I tend to agree with the more optimistic folks. The combat rebalance must be successful for the developers to save face. Unless they live underground with no outside contact, they have to know that, so far, they've really botched what could have been the greatest MMORPG to-date. So much potential has been wasted.

For what it's worth, your pets won't be any more effective, and it's unlikely you'll be able to use them against the most difficult of the creatures you're using them against right now. Mobs and NPCs aren't supposed to be altered at all, which means your pets will last exactly as long as they do now. If you use anythingin addition toyour pets to do damage in combat, however, then you'll have the added disadvantage of noticing your pets sustain significantly more damage (which you'll have to spend more money on pet stims to heal) as they're forced to tank longer to compensate for your own reduced damage. The amount of time your pet has to tank something is directly proportionate to the amount of time it takes you to kill it. If it takes you twice as long, your pet takes twice as much damage.

The combat rebalance may be good for the game in the long run, it may not.The only thing that seems fairly certain is that it's going to hurt like the dickens for every combat profession in the short run. I'm sure the complaints about it will last until the end of the game. After all, it's been six months since our own combat capability was reduced, and we still see multiple complaint posts about it on this board every day. Given the number of professions that are going to be affected by the rebalance, the screams will likely drown out the sound of everything else on the forums.

I'm hoping for the best, but I don't think anyone should fool themselves into thinking that it won't come with an abudance of the worst. It will. It really, really will. They may be fixing broken special attacks, but damage output and absorbtion is being reduced for everyone, which ultimately means we'll be unable to access content in this game that we've grown used to accessing in the past. They're handing us the carrot and hitting us with the stick. It's an interesting philosophy for a business to take. Let's hope theydid a little more research with thisthan they did when they put the holocron system in place.

BE MCH pets can have up to 60% kenetic and 100% energy, heat, and blast ( I have multiple pets like that) I am sure glad they are nerfing comp armor, even I thought it was dumb running around in 90% resist in pvp. I just hope they balance ALL armors to make them ALL effective... yes even bone armor should have a purpose. And as for slapjacks post, I think your the one whole will fumble, because the devs stated that "Creature handlers have been rebalanced for post combat revamp taking place down the road"...

The future is bright for CH

Grawarr,

Or you if your pets don't autostore that would give you time to hmmmmm pull out your speeder and run like a chicken.

I don't think we are going to be any more effective after the "GREAT COMBAT REBALANCE" I don't believe it will be the panacea to all our problems. What I see is that once everyone is brought down, and if (that's a big IF) we actually become viable again, the rest of the community will start whining again and we will be the first to be nailed again with the Dev Nerf Hate You stinking CH bat.

I have seen nothing in this Dev team that shows any balls or vision or forward thinking. What I see is a bunch of reactive neophytes whose sole solution to any problem has been nerf it to death, ignore it, or make it a laughing stock. I have zero faith in this development team.

....and then no matter how hard we get nerfed, we still keep CH because we are still some of the coolest characters on the game.

the revamp is still months away, I dropped it, I still have my pets and my XP so maybe when the revamp goes live I will pick it up again. Untill then the nail is in my CH coffin.

And if you truly believe that CH isn't gonna get any changes, I have a bridge in Brooklyn you might be interested in.
