Hey there folks.
You may have seen me allude to this thread recently. We've been looking for additional functionality and niches in which our pets can excel (perhaps even ways to expand them beyond combat). There have been some really great threads along those lines.
After speaking with Panthu, it seemed like a good idea to coordinate a brainstorming session between the Creature Handler and Dancer forums. There has been a desire on their part for pets to enhance their performance, and know what they would like to see toward that end. We, on the other hand, have knowledge of creatures and their capabilities.
So I started a thread on the Dancer forum soliciting ideas. Now I'd like to hear some ideas from you guys on the subject of Dancer-specific pet functionality. The end goal will be to combine all this feedback into a proposal to present to the Devs. And who knows... other professions may wish to come onboard for a collaborative effort like this, if it goes well.
If you get a chance, please take a look at that thread in the Dancer forum. Then give me your thoughts and ideas on Dancer-specific pets in this thread. Thanks.

Having done some entertaining in this game I agree that dancers and musicians both could benefit from pets to help enhance their acts. One night I just had out Buggy my Skreeg Warrior Elite out in front of the Theed Starport. Just felt like playing some music and having Buggy dance. It was entertaining both for me and those watching. Was just in one of those moods not to kill anything or worry about resource gathering.
Some pets that I think would be great for entertainers would be along the more traditional lines. A Skreeg Gatherer would work if the devs would make it lvl 10 instead of lvl 15. Also the Crystal Snakes would be neat for the entertainers, again though a variety would have to be made that is cl 10 as well. Other types of pets I can think of with the same restrictions if they don't already exist are the Gurrecks, Jax, Rawls and of course get that Pharple in as tameable

My wife's char is a dancer and I know she would love the idea. I think it would be great. It might be as simple (relatively simple) as adding2 new "tricks" both being proffession specific. (DancerTrick1, DancerTrick2) This could be done with any proffession that is interested. I also like the idea of attaching some type of bonus. It would also be great for those C/H, Dancer's out there to bump those bonus' up depending on the level of the pet. I wish more proffs would add to this. I have seen some very interesting posts.

Vert,
Since you posted this one, I will forego making a new Concept Thread this week.
My idea for Dancers/Entertainers/Musician
Pets given the /DanceTrick command would heal the Entertainers Action Pool.

Make them cutesy pets. Maybe allow them to be minaturized, many pets are cute as babies, but when they get to be speeder-sized they lose a certain amount of indoors functionality. A /watchdancer command would be nice, and give the pets similair animations to player characters, they sway, clap, twitch tails, wave mandibles, etc. Giving pets the ability to dance along with the entertainers, either as attention getters or for some kind of bonus to the dancer. Maybe a new class of elite "psychic" pets that aid in mental enhancements.

For those who haven't yet checked out that link to the dancer forum, there are some great ideas over there. I had a couple of ideas but after reading the dancer thread I decided they weren't very good
One dancer/MCH actually found a use for the patrol command - had three birds flying around the cantina from patrol point to patrol point. So there are definitely creative ways that any entertainer could use pets.
I liked Pluto's idea of a pet being able to heal a dancer's action pool. Or if not actually heal it then maybe slow down how fast it gets used up. This got me to thinking that besides a pet helping the dancer look more entertaining, the pet could havetangible benefits such aspluses to action pool, battle fatigue healing, mind buffs, that sort of thing. Maybe increase how much xp an entertainer earns. Such tangiblebenefits would have the advantage of not onlysupporting entertainersbut also provide a greater incentive for entertainers towant a pet.

well there is the ovbious of more tricks that the pets could do. maybe even a pet dance (have them balance on a ball or something).
Have them mimic their owners.
Let BE's create custom kits that change their colors or add clown faces.
Oh yeah from my old thread
Entertainer support:
pet dances and plays with owner giving a effective +10 to wound/fatigue healing also at a loss to pet's stamina and action pool with each flouris (OMG PET FLOURISHES LOL)
Pet loses: all combat abilites
CH train level: empathy I
Pet limitations: Um cute pets gnorts, durni's things like that

I think the first thing that could be done is the ability for ch to train a greater variety of tricks but the pet is still limited to just being trained 2 at a time but are changable.
I think all creatures under lvl 70 need to become tamable so we will have a greater variety of cute and adorable pets to chose some for the dancers. I had a dancer offer me once 5 million credits if I could find a massive gnort that were once tamable. That just isn't rightthat such creatures are no longer tamable.
I do think that the dancers should be required to become creature handlers and the degree of difficulty of pet they can have depends on how high they move up in the ch tree.

Vert,
I stopped by to check out that link. Saw something I liked. Someone wanted wearable snakes. Brought images of Selma Hayek a la "Dusk til Dawn" to mind. I will have to follow up on SWGCREATURES but are there any CL10 or less snakes? There are no BE snakes.
I still say the best pet we can make should not up any healing factors or apply better buffs. Instead they should offset action loss of flourishing. Even went out dancing and wear out if you are dancing alone? The pet is there to boost your morale as a dance partner. This should keep the action restored for the Dancer.
The reason I prefer this is in advance to buff nerfage during the Combat Revamp.

wow vert this was a surprise lol
ok as i said in the coral thread and a few others.....
any level pet should be able to be taught dance's either -dance1 -dance2
truth is I would have liked this structured so it takes the ch a period of time to train them as I sad in past threads. with this and other enhancing commands. teach pet dance1 3 times a day for lets say 10-20 days (times may be adjusted) and each time the pet is tought the commant by a ch the dance last longer. when finished (danjce capped out) the pet will now dance do a 3 minute dance.
anyone could have the pet dance however if you are an entertainer you would recieve a bonus to your profession while the pet is dancing. any entertainer musician/dancer could benifit.
the bonuses could be in healling, or xp, buffing, it might be nice for an entertainer to give imput to what bonus is most needed. bonuses could be spread out along skill tree nov entertainer +5 bonus, master entertainer +10, novice mus/danc +15, master mus/danc +25 (might be nice for masters to have a buff bonus here)
as far as what skill tree and box to allow ch to teach these commands is up for debate if done the way I would like, wich is really teaching the pet over a period of time. its a little more real lifish lol and will ad substance to commands and training.
please note,
this isnt to get off subject but for those who havent read some of the other threads these training practices and new commands are also being suggested to increase pet ham's, resistences and more. please check out pluto's coral thread, verts command made useful thread and the mounts/pet armor thread wich have been floating around. Pluto may have been the one to float the mount/pet armor thread or search through my past post's to find em (it may take a while lol)
again please stay on topic here this is about dancing entertainer pets

The ability to restrict the size of a creature would be wonderful for the limited space on most stages. It could be done with a kit from a Bio-engineer but used by the Creature Handler. I've had people other than entertainers ask if it were possible to keep a creature at it's baby-size becuase they are so cute.
Also it would help if the rasps were able to fly lower. When I was a dancer, the baby rasp hung around my head, but when fully grown it was up at the ceiling where no one could see it.
The ability to change colors of animals for dancers would also be nice. Imagine a jax that was color-coordinated with the dancer. Or a parti-colored creature. The dye kits could be produced by an Image-Designer or Master Artisan.
Perhaps a Dance command for the pet that acts like the Trick commands do but adds a bonus to entertainment healing exp or boosts the entertainment healing if the pet is grouped. Maybe incorporate a dance routine specifically used with pets into the Dancer tree where the pet would jump through the dancer's arms on certain flourishes or the dancer uses a large creature to do dance moves (i.e. the dancer rolls across the back of the creature.)
