I've never tried a CH before, but i've noticed that from reading up...that BE generated pets are the best CH pets.

I want to know if this template would be viable (able to solo).

Marksman (which weapon would be the best? and would the 4th box be enough for soloing?)4?-4?-4?-1

Medic 2-0-4-4

Scout 4-0-4-0

Master Creature Handler (do I need master in order to use the best BE pets?)

Master Bio-Engineer (do I need master to create the best CH pets?)

Thanks for any help you may offer!

define"solo"

Yes, you can create and use pets as a master Be/CH but you wont kill much without some serious weapon skills.

Think of CH as a "defense" profession.... but without "offense" you wont do much.

imho your gonna need more weapon exp to solo then just up 4 boxes in one weapon. whichever you choose you should go up the pistoleer, rifleman, or carbineer trees. pets help you fight but you need to cause more damage then the pet or its gonna die and come after you.

The best template is the Rifle/CH Master. Rifle's Flurry shot [aoe dizzy], combined with the supress shot [posture change], is inarguably the funniest thing to see, as well as being the most dangerous. Just seeing a whole mob of stuff doing the croppy flop is worth it.

Anything that does damage works. I like pistols personally. And yeah, the 4th box is enough to solo, but don't expect to solo anything real hard without moving up to novice pistoleer/rifleman/carbineer at least.

Medic 2-0-4-4

Why would you want this much medic skill if you want to solo? Novice medic lets you use basic stims to heal yourself, and no medic skill is required to heal pets with pet stims.

Scout 4-0-4-0

Scout 4-0-4-0 is required anyway.

Master Creature Handler (do I need master in order to use the best BE pets?)

Master Bio-Engineer (do I need master to create the best CH pets?)

Of course, and of course. Though you can get by with much less CH skill if you want to restrict yourself to a single BE-made pet.

Having been a master BE/MCH for about 2/3 of my time playing since release, I can say that to be truly effective you need the punch from getting at least a few boxes into the elite formof a weapon profession. You are seriously point limited after getting both MCH and MBE, so need to be very careful where you spend even 2 or 3 points.

Personally, I would recommend not getting the extra boxes in medic. You will be making and using your own petstims, so you don;t need to use high end regular stims to heal your pets, and hopefully using pets will mean you yourself aren't taking that much damage, so going up the Pharm line is not necessary. Similarly, first aid is not needed atm as you can clear bleeding stats from your pets by storing them (which as far as anyone knows is as intended and not a bug) after the combat, and as an MCH your pets should be capable of handling bleeding after a fight finishes for 30 seconds until you can store them (post publish 7).

This frees up enough points for you to get to Pistoleer 0-0-4-0 (Stopping Shot & Fan Shot), Carbineer 0-3-1-0 (Crippling shot, Burst shot 1, ranged mitigation 1) or Rifleman - less personal experience here, esp recently - maybe 2-0-0-1 and add in Ranged Weapon Support 1 from marksman (a rifleman would be better positioned to give advice on working specials from that prof though). Without being able to master a weapon combat prof though, you need to make sure your damage and your pets damage is in sync to reduce damage taken by them while tanking for you. Also, you will tend to need to be close to apply stims to them in higher end encounters. To that end, dabbling in pistoleer seems to be most effective, carbine second. (Note, i say dabbling, before a master fileman/mch comes along saying he does great, that is not the issue here).

To answer your other questions;

MCH - yes, imo. You need to get into the 50s and 60s in order to have pets that are well rounded against multiple damage types and have good attacks (speed, damage and to hit). If you want to use multiple pets, then MCH is effectively mandatory (non-MCH can have 2 mid-20s at once, MCH can have 3 of the same level, for example).

MBE - Absolutely. Without MBE you simply won't be sampling from upper end mobs like mutant/bull rancors, fremzied grauls etc, and without that high CL DNA your pets will simply not have the offensive traits you need.

With no Pharmacology boxes, your Medicine Use skill would be +5, the only stims you can use would be Stim-A's. Are Stim-A's good enough on the harder planets?

Just as an FYI, you can use Stim-Bs at med use +5 as well. I believe they need to be experimented down to that level by the maker, but at least on my server every single (competent) stim seller does that.

Tragg is right, and they don't have to be experimented down.

Wasn't sure about that - I knew Stim-Cs had to be experimented on to get to med-use 30 and usable at Pharm 3, never really looked at B's though so always just played safe and checked before buying

Glad it helped Tikokura - in my personal experience PvE it was hard to beat dabbling in pistoleer as a complement to MCH, as stopping shot and fan shot are both very effective specials, and pistols are inherently fast enough that you don't suffer too much from not having all the speed modifiers from other parts of the tree. If you every get pulled into base takedowns in PvP as a BE, having those few boxes help you feel a little less vulnerable as well

You should be able to find stimBs in the 300-400 range pretty easily. Higher than 400 is hard to find, but I've seen Bs up past 600 (of course, the 600+ ones were extremely pricey).
