Thread: Why was the pet pulling ability nerfed?

I'm kinda wondering what was the unbalancing factor of a pet's ability to pull 1creature out of a mob that caused the DEVs to nerf it? Were there a bunch of CHs out there griefing Jedi with that tactic? Was there PvP action going on out there where this ability simply overwhelmed the other side so they had no chance at victory? Were a bunch of us CHs taking creature missions and making tons and tons of credits by pulling one creature from the lair at a time and then killing ... wait that can't be it because to kill the whole lair takes forever doing it that way. Hummmmmmmmmmm ... why did they nerf that ability?



The execution date is set ... the tortured screams of tens of thousands of beloved pets and their masters will resonate throughout the galaxies ... cover your ears and cry!

I havnt been on post pub 20....I really hope this is a sick joke..........Its a key skill when in a group.

yeah we just got kicked in the nuts. kinda sucks. As for why pulling was nerfed, the dev's felt that the CH profession actually had a purpose in group hunting, well, we know they can't stand for that so now we all get it on the back of the head with the nerf bat.

I feel like SOE pushed me down a slide of razors and I landed in the deep end of a 99%rubbing alcohol pool and I cant swim.

Lets see... we're about 80% nerf'd already... so why not just go for the whole 100%?

Seems like they should have just removed the abeality to command attacks from pets for Non-CH's. Then all those wannabies would flock to droids... There's no winning situation in this.


"Gee, now my pet can attack a nest without having to be told repeatedly... Too bad it's now many times harder to get to the nest allone as a CH."

The "Reason" as I understand it is as follows.

The ability for a pet to pull a singlecritter/NPC from a distance was a bug in the AI. It seems that allmobs AI went straight to hell after the CU. This "Nerf" as it is called is in fact a FIX for themob AI that wasnt working as intended..

It would've been nice if pets were made useful in straight combat again before firsttaking away our only current useful ability...


Wow, for awhile I people were actually asking me to join their groups for the purpose of pulling. It felt likelaunch year back when scouts wereNEEDED in a hunting group.

CH still can pull if u have any ranged abilities. Pop the mob then run, while running have pets attack. It works fine. As I said in another post though...melee/ch folks get the shaft on this one big time. Not fair at all





Won't the pet get ganked and probably incapped in 5 seconds flat doing it this way?

I think so - my pets and I have always worked as a team - they pull, i call them back - I MTK my way into the aggro alongside my pets. This was the ONLY way I could survive after the CU and took me a while to work out. Groups invited me in because I had this wonderful tanking ability and I didn't kill fast (not at 300 damage a time) It worked well in a group context and gave me a purpose and a role. Thanks SOE for deciding everyone who has combat has a place in a group - oh - except you CH. You're worthless.
