Thread: CH exp
This is a serious question...what should I be killing now? I can kill durnis with my grand wrix and get 1 CH expper kill and not have to worry about my pet dying, oh wait have to watch out for Corsecs and the other NPCs that will agro my pet just because hes killing a rodent near them. I really don't understand what I should be killing, just because things are red to a PC doesnt mean its red to a CH. We group up our pets and it takes down the cons of mobs just like it would to PCs grouped. That crazed durni that was just white to me just turned lite blue with me grouped with my 2 pets, what should I be killing????
nothing... you should hunt nothing...
now your pets can die permadeath, you can't tame anything bigger thana baby-goat as a noviceCH...would you risk fighting anything bigger than a crazed durni? I wouldn't... and would I fight anithing that gives me just 1 point of CH exp - no..
so what am I supposed to do - tame durnis and name them to death??? sounds like i'd be a master CH in about 3453659 tamed-named-rehabilitated and released souls....
this game is FUN!!! yey!
let's just all of us become private dancers - another extremelly valued by our developers class...
SVET (used to love this game)
well .. try to learn your class. here are a few pointers.
the xp you gain is relative to the level of your pet in comparison to the level of your target.
if youre getting 1 xp, then the adult version of your pet is of higher level than your target. ie. higher con when you are ungrouped.
find the right mix of pet level and pet xp. let the pet grow to adult, then find mobs that dont kill it in one hit. if nothing else, get pets that have ranged attacks and tank the mob yourself.
Well, first off i would like to say hi to all of you, and then i would want to ask why there is no "official guide" to CH on the forum thread?
Now i would like to ask, since there is no guide, what do i need to do for the different categories of CH exp?

I am currently a TK Master and was interested in CH to complement myTK skills....However, I have no clue how CH's gain exp...I just attained Novice CH and wanted to ask you guys "how" you gain exp and "what" are the best methods to gain it....Appreciate any help...

You get CH exp by several methods.
- Tame babies
- Train pets
- Have your pets fight mobs
When your pet is fighting you get more exp if your pet is lower level than the mob your fighting. If your pet is the same level or higher than what your fighting then yuo'll only get 1 exp per kill. As for the 'best' method, that's up to you. Some people prefer to do nothing but tame babies and release them. Some prefer to have their pets fight.
OR
Tame a baby Cu Pa or another low-level, but powerful creature, store it as one creature and continue taming and releasing (destroying as it's called in Datapad) babies for XP.
In about a week, that Cu Pa will have more HAM than you do, and a decent 100+ attack (i think 3 sec delay). Have him kill off lots of creatures and you'll bring in XP. Just sit down, relax on the hillside just outside of a starter town, and send your pet around to kill all the lower creatures that spawn just outside the city.
You'll get decent XP.
but i'm still a novice, so there may be much better ways.
No, I'm not a BH, well anymore. lol...
I'm curenlty 3-3-2-4 in CH and looking for the best spot to grind CH EXP to get to Master. Any ideas? Thanks.
i'm 1 1/10 boxes away from master ch, and no, i'm not a bh... ANYMORE. either. I decided to go CH, because taming was more fun, and provided the content I sought while roaming the country sides. As opposed to being tied to a mission terminal all day long. And this way, I can even plop down a harvester or two for my PA, when the need arises. ![]()
I've gotten all my xp at the crystal caves. If there's a good group going and you can have 2 pets out at a time, you can literally rake in the CH xp.
I use 1 full grown GSP and 1 half grown GSP. works well, 2800 xp per crystal hunter. about 1500 per weilder.

when I was in your position I was using 2 partially grown maulers to do kamurith defilers on dathomir. 22k a mission and decent xp for easy kills.

Get 2 babies out and do laps of Mos Eisley cleaning out the Worrts, Lesser Womp Rats, Rills etc.
There are several advantagesto the "take out the yard trash" strategy.
1. Travel time seriously reduced
2. Supply is endless.
3. Once the babies grow up, get two very low level pets and use them.
4. Nearby to bigger supply of potential trainers (both NPC and PC) once you're ready to exchange your XP for a box.
5. Can do it yourself without having to find a group as you do against bigger critters.
Yes, it's a grind. EVERYTHING is a grind. This one, however, is in many ways more time efficient than the strategy of heading to an adventure world to find bigger game, which tends to involve a lot more time. If you've got the group assembled, of course, go for that strategy. If you don't, then go deal with the yard trash.
