Thread: The grand battle, or, Krayt Hunting.

It was a great battle indeed. The dragon was a tough foe indeed. The battle took some 15 minutes, but finally, the great beast fell. It would attack with all its might, but eventually it was felled.

Sadly, I was watching from over 90 meters away when this happened. Why one might ask, would I stand on the sidelines while someone else solo'd a krayt dragon?

BECAUSE I AM A MASTER CREATURE HANDLER [master pistoleer].

Because of the glorious title of "Pokeman Master", it has been decided that I shall be relegated to hunting smaller trophies.

Oh, I attempted the hunt, mind you. I had my greatest ally, my greatest companion out for the hunt. I had a rancor, which at one time was a rather feared thing in SWG. I had a nice buff, and some good composite also. All for nought. The Krayt tore my rancor apart like it was so much toilet paper, then one hit killed me from 90 meters away.

The person who I watched bring one of these great beasts down was a TKM/Rifle master. Looks like I picked the wrong profession. Since there is no place in the world for us "Pokeman Masters" anymore, I think I will switch to the cookie cutter approach to combat. Makes me sad, I rather enjoyed being a Master Creature Handler, but our kind are not accepted in this game anymore.

I hear you guy. I've been working on mastering CH for a good month now, and I have enjoyed every minute of it. However, as a TKM I find myself defending my pets more than they defend me.

I decided to go with Creature Handler, not becasue of a holo (I think grinding is unhealthy), but because the animals are fun. They are nice to have around as hunting companions, and fun to show off at starports/cities etc... However, like you said, I couldn't imagine taking one of my babies up against a Krayt it would never survive, and it would be all I could do to keep the poor beast pumped full of stims.

I am currently 4344 in CH, and intend to master it, but I pray that the devs will show Creature Handlers some love in the next patch. I think that out of all the classes we need it the most.

They can nerf my TKM all they like, but give the creature handlers some love.

I know what you mean . . . my guild hosts weekly, all-invited hunts on Scylla against krayyts, rancors, kill-everything-in-sight-on-Endor and such. I never bother to go. All I can do is spend more money than I could make there on pet stims, and that's only if I actually get in a hit, because everything's already dropped by the time my command goes into effect. If the pet listens. Or hasn't autostored.

LOL- phew I thought it was only my pets that were completely stupid!

I just went on a krayt fight with 4 other people and my crystal snake only got hit twice. I was floored. But then hunting lateron Dantooine with one other person, all of my pets were getting their furry butts handed to them. If there are enough people to distract attention away from your pet, you can get lots accomplished

Theamount of $$ I'm spendingon pet stims and regular stims is unreal. You have to be a high level medic to use something more than stim-b's, and right now I'm only healing foraround 700. When your pet has 10K HAM, you run out FAST.

Basically as it stands in game right now, the only reason to be a CH is to show off your fun pets...

i am starting to think that resists are notcounted for sometimes when a pet fights a wild creature...too many times i am having to heal my light armored spider with 54% kinetic after two battles..

Yup.

Agreed.

Unfortunately most of the people on this CH board and the CH correspondent don't see any problems with CH in combat right now, they think it's fine the way it is. If your objective is combat, you need to leave CH. Its one of the most inefficient use of skill points for combat purposes.

If you like tricks, mounts, hunting rares for their own sake and AI companions, then CH is ok. CH is no longer a combat or combat support class anymore (realistically).

I was Master Rifles/MCH for a couple of hrs and boy was it easy

Most of the time things dont even know you are there, it is "the" easiest PVM skill in my mind......i took down loads of Bull rancor lairs and they only take a couple of mins per one and you can take down a bull rancor before he gets upto attack you with his plague strike.

Never tried krayts.....maybe after all this Jedi crap gets sorted i'll go back and try them once I remaster Rifles.

Well there is no doubt that MCH is weaker than MRM/MTKA. In the high end of this game we can't compete with the very best combat classes. But just short of that (say anything under LVL 80) a master CH with another combat profession works just fine if you know what your doing.

So do we want to be just as good as all the other professions? Sure, of course, but its not that were useless. I don't think any class shy of a master Jedi should be able to solo a Kryat Dragon. Besides the guy that did that likely used up an expensive set of armor, a passel of stims, and paid millions of credits for his equipment. He at best got a pearl off of the thing. Whoopie!

Hm as I m just mCH since 2 days, i m fine with it. BUT I m mRM as well, so i don t care about the dmg-output. The tanking abilities are about ok, not too good tho. For other players who don t have an elite fighter prof it s just a pain. The dmg-out is so damn low, especially regarding the new mobs on the geo dungeon, corvette and the death watch.

The tanking abilities shouldn t be too high. I remember the days when there were standing 10 grauls at the dathomir outpost, that wasn t fun either.

My suggestions for CH (tho i m pretty new to it, so i might not get every point):

-increasing the dmg up to *5 on master CH pets. Lets say 2500+ dmg every 2 secs, that s about equal to other combat profs (or a bit lower). lvl 1-10: *1, lvl 11-20: *2, lvl 21-35: *3, lvl 36-55: *4, above *5. This way using 2 lvl 35-pets got a better dmgoutput than a single lvl70 pet, but less resists/HAM. Regarding the gcw-revamp it might be lower...
-different dmg-types: There are several mobs with very high kin-resist. And as pets don t have AP (as far as i know) the dmgoutput goes down all the way.
-AP1 for pets who got AR1.
-more "trophy" pets, very rare, but very strong. Like lvl 70: medium AR/AP, no vuls, resists up 50%, slightly increased dmg (*6 for example, remember the medium AP so the dmg should be higher allrdy). Those pets are just wild creatures, not craftable by BEs.
-BE-pets got better resists to "tank", but should have a lower dmgoutput than wild creatures. Makes taming more interesting and useful.

BUT!!! This should just take place when u don t have another elite fighting profession! If for example I could use these skills, i d put up the dmg of 2 combat classes at once. If you got an elite combat prof, the pets just shouldn t get the dmg multifier(? dunno the right word but i guess u understand what i mean) and just be tanks.
