I can't believe someone hasn't posted something about this in the CH forum yet - or maybe I've just missed it. But my answer to that answer is GACK! (Translate that anyway you want but it doesn't mean Oh, joy!). I know we really don't want to be discussing exploit techniques, really bad idea. But please! Someone tell me WHAT EXPLOIT? I'm really a bit of a dim bulb when it comes to things like this, so for the life of me I can't figure out how you can exploit the battle timer. So the answer we're given is, for me, meaningless. It's like TH had said: We're not going to let you call pets right away because. That's all, just because. Nyah, nyah, nyah.

I don't think anyone has been able to determine what exactly the exploit is . . . and frankly, I don't think there is one that we know about. Maybe there was one on their test servers that they couldn't solve and it made it to Live, but only after the timer so we wouldn't know it existed.

*sighs* I just wish the question asked had been something more useful . . . yeah, the timer hurts, but we've got bigger fish to fry right now.

you really believe that if we had asked another question we would have gotten a decent answer?

Yeah, now that you mention it - how did we come up with that question? For me, the timer is merely an annoyance - nice if it were gone but I can live with it.Sure, occasionly I've had some probs when running group missions, but isour most pressing needthat people don't wait for us to call pets?

Vert, I'm glad I don't have your job. I don't know why you want to be the CH correspondent If you're the one who picked that question to ask, then I sure don't mean to criticise. I am curious however.

*sigh* Though I think digiwrath may be right - would any question really have mattered?

I think the question "what's the holdup on fixing the honest to goodness, gamebreaking bugs in our class" would have been a fair question.

Here's an idea to get passed the timer issue:

MAKE CAMPS! The basic ones you get at Novice Scout should do fine. Get yourself a bunch of hide and bone, use an Equipment Factory, and make them by the crate. Take a crate or two with you before you go to Endor, Yavin, Dath or where ever. Then all you do is drop a tent, call a pet and your off. No 15 sec (or 45 second for those who can call 3 pets) wait. And if you are one one of those hunting planets the chances of getting the "can't place campsite this close to buildings" should be small to nonexhistant.

Actually, I think I know the exploit this is supposed to prevent. As usual, it has nothing to do with the CH but gimps us to protect Jedi. You see, SOE has no clue how to code and uses the same code for faction pets as for regular pets.

The supposed exploit is that a BH or a number of them going after a Jedi could instantly call an ATST or ATAT if he found a Jedi in the wild. Thus the Jedi would be at a big disadvantage and unable to flee. We all know how SOE loves to gimp usas an easy fix to proper coding. You see most Jedi stay away from cities when they are leveling. Even without the ATST I have seen Jedi with tefs get attacked by just about everyone in a starport when they tried to get off a planet. Players attack, die, clone, and attack again over and over. So, most Jedi spend their time in the middle of nowhere. The 15 seconds is to give them enough time to get out of Dodge when they see another player in the middle of nowhere.

Yes, yes, we know. That's what part of the problem is . . . if we can drop a camp and get our pets called out instantly, why have a timer at all? Might as well just kill the timer if the only difference between one and the other is a few pieces of bone and hide and no appreciable wait.

Hes right, and this is why we won't get our way on this. In SWG Jedi are more worthy than CH's and they should be. Jedi are the main focus of the SW universe.

Whoa, I agree to an extent, but there is NOTHING right in hurtingone class for the sake of another, Jedi or not.

OK I read all of this on the thread pertaining to ch'sandto be honest it sounds like a load ofcrapto me. First off I can see faction pets having the timer, that's no problem, but ch's don't need it for the simple fact even if a ch attacked a Jedi he still has the ability to turn your pets back on you with the mind trick. And so what if faction pets didn't have timers either if a Jedi was in a city and I know many who venture in the cites an Imperial could pull an at'st on him still just as fast so it doesn't matter. If he get's wacked in the middle of no where that will teach him to pay better attention next time. I mean there used to be a time when Jedi remained hidden and now they are all over the place walking out in the open as if not a care in the world. Don't get me wrongI am definately not asking for a Jedi nerf down or anything, but if the reason for a timer on pets and all is giving the Jedi a chance to run then that's definately not a good answer for it. Jedi are the Elite and Best of the Best of all the classess and therefore should be prepared to face any challenge or circumstances regardless. That just my own opinion on the matter anyway.
