Although this has been said many times before, I gotta say that I really enjoyed my pets this weekend. I had been spending money a little too quickly as of late and decided that I needed to go grind out some Janta Missions for dough. Not to mention a friend needs the blood (which after millions of credits in missions, I found none). As a MRM/MCH Jantas aren't much of a problem, but since they started using specials again, I have been killed twice by some nasty mind damage.

Most of the time I was dying was becuase I was riding in on a swoop and thought I was stopping short of the lair, but lag was dropping me on top of it, or closer, then there is that bug where you warp 100m after you dismount, which was dropping me on the lair, well having 5 or 6 Jantas doing specials on your mind is no fun etc etc. So....

I switch to riding my Giant Carrion Spat ( BE gift) and pull out another BE gift ( a gurreck) with 60 resist to kinetic. I command the spat to guard me, as I enrage the gurreck and send him into the lair to begin the fracas, once all Jantas are attacking the cat, I spam strafe shot 2 and if all goes well seconds later I'm in looters heaven. Although quite often the Jantas would knock the gurreck down ( they where doing this to my Rancor also) and as soon as they land a knockdown, they attack me. Well because the spat is guarding me , he automatically engages whoever's after me, and buys me a few more seconds to take them down.

This technique worked perfectly for me, preventing my death on a number of occasions, and allowing me to cash in on well over a million credits yesterday. (Jantas go for as much as 33k in improved job markets). Overall is was a good weekend and one that made me really appreciate my skills as a CH. Just thought I would share

Thanks for response. Sometimes it seems so taboo to come this board and say something went well with the profession, but I cannot lie, it was great!

Good to hear someone else had it good. Mine wasn't hunting with my pets though.

I'm working on swordman right now, and considering I need as much xp as I can get, I figured I would just handle my ch xp with tames and trains and releases. Well, I went from needing 135k to next level to only needing 40k for next level. Lot of babies out there this weekend, gotta love it.

nice tactics... good stuff. the combo of guard and enrage was a nice touch. i'm glad to see i'm not the only one that didn't get any janta blood this weekend. killed dozens and dozens of these guys and got a few wood staffs.

Well I did a bit of decorating in my guild hall. I was hunting with the wife but as I'm 2 boxes out of master rifle and she's getting the points to get novice rifle the damage was a bit one sided. So I started playing with the hall, gave my cats the friend command and off they went, worked great. I was watching for pet abuse,(j/k) our computers are side by side. but laylah and the cats did fine.
So my pets and wife had a great day Sunday, almost at the novice rifleman point, The cats, after a few sniffs and growls decided the better half was cool and they romped around having fun.

See that's totally cool, I have yet to use the befriend command to my advantage. I think what happens is I befriend them and then get impatient for the person to use them, so start spamming my pet attack out of haste lol. So just to re-clarify when I befriend my pet to someone, they can then issue all it's commands. Too cool!!!! I bet that helped considerably with your wife faction pts. lol.

Hmmmm maybe I could start a pet rental service in Mos Eisley, silly question does pet level matter when you befriend?

Glad to hear it, I am trying to make a couple million credit buffer before I give up Master Rifleman, I was thinking of doing Swordsman next. At least climbing these combat skills trees is so much easier when you are a Master CH

Anyone else have any good CH experiences they can lighten up my Monday with????

Well, I've been using the same lvl 14 swamp tusk cat for almost my entire ch tree. She was given to me by a friend and is my pet of choice. I have stronger pets (lots of them) but as far as lvl'ing and just having your fav pet out, it's always the cat. she isa natural, captured on rori. she's been incapped a few times, but not too many, bounces back like a champ. she's helped me take down more tortons, fambaas, voritors, jantas... you name it. Guaranteed never to leave the datapad.

For me it was giant sand beetles. I talked to a moisture farmer hoping to get one my hero of tatooine missions and I'm instructed to kill 30 of them. I go take a few missions for beetle nests to meet the requirement. Me and my trusty wasteland cu pa ride out with a graul in tow. The graul was good for one layer and I switched to a pair of my own sand beetles for a couple of layers. My last layer I pull out my nearly grown rancor. I'm riding across Tat with the rancor in tow and see this guy fighting several cu pa and scykes. His mind is looking none to good so I ride over and ask if he is OK. He is so focused on combat he doesn't see my chat but he does notice this Rancor standing behind him. To say the least he was startled and concerned at this new threat, at least until he realized I was there. The initial shock on his chat was hilarious!

I love Tusk Cats they look really cool!!!! Ahh now when I as a noob CHI had a grand wrix I felt that way about too. When I first got her ( I watched my friend tame her for me) I was so happy, she was fast, pretty tough, and gave me mad XP when fighting bigger stuff. Thought I would never get rid of her, in fact I had a lot of pets that I thought I would never get rid of, in the end that's what I ended up doing.

I started giving away my most beloved lower level pets to help the Novice CH's I would run into. I always thought I was giving them to a good home.Funny story though, I get a PM from someone this weekend goes like this:

Forgot name: Hey Heineken you remember me?

Me: The name is familiar

Forgot name : You gave me my first pet when I was noob, remember the Spat

Me: (faking it) oh yeah that's right , how did that work out for ya

Forgot name:Not very well, kept getting killed, and I use my swoop all the time anyways.

Me: Great glad to be of service

Ahhhh the pleasures of helping the Noob, there is little that can compare. I don't remember the person, but I remember my spat!! I still think they are one of the best non-ch pets.

Good luck with the Tusk Cat !!

Very nice story, I kinda like these. Also Im missing some storys about grouping chs

Ok, then I will report about yesterday. I used to solo as a CH like everyone else does, but I come from EQ and grouping was a real blast over there. So, I thought myself "Dantooine is boring, let's try Dath again". And what did I see there? People who wanted to group (non-solo). I happily accepted the grouping offer and after getting some enraged rancor mission we started the fun. I really can tell it was a blast. In first place I wanted the CH exp and the rifle exp, so I put out first my mountain dewback. After the first kills (exp is great) we had our first death in the group. So I decided to store my dewie and get out my graul. It was the first time I actually used him against such strong mobs. Everytime someone was going low on ham I sicked my graul on the mob and tried to get him the aggro. Most of the time it worked and the graul is a really good tank. Even one time two enraged rancors was beating on my "little" graul but with the help of my pet stims we made it.
It was really nice and together with the group chat time was too fast over. Im really looking forward to my next hunting groups and I hope more people will do this.
And nothing was more satisfing than seeing my pet saving someone's ass. That time I really was proud to be a CH and gave my graul a big hug (heh)

Its certainly refreshing to read everyones happy experiences as CH. Well I had a super weekend also. Spent some time on Yavin hunting spiders with a friend using my trusty level 10 gurreck, got great XP from this too. Also continued setting up my creature zoo in my guild hall (lots of creatures on display). Yep, loving being a novice CH
