Greetings and Adios,
As I sit here in front of my computer contemplating my last days playing SWG, I am pulled back to those first days of euphoria I felt as I started my journey down the path of SWG. Some where in the back of my mind I had a picture of the Star Wars universe unfolding in front of me in a panoramic way.
The first days, weeks and months of playing were completely caught up in the excitement of discovering new things. I started as a musician and the local wookie bouncer of TIP, my friend Reg's troupe of dancers and musicians. We ran from place to place and our guild hall was just past the boundary line of Dearic, Talus on the Kauri server. The international flavor of people from all over the world made the game seem other worldly.
End of June I began taming creatures, and the end of July '03 I was a certified Master CH. I remember my first pet, a guf drolg that was given to me by a CH and every time he would learn a new skill he would stop by and teach my guf drolg. Bosmer was the CH that got me interested in the whole profession. When Master came I went out and tamed 3 Greater Sludge Panthers, 2 Gurrecks, 2 Graul Maulers, a gaping spider hunter, 2 merek Battlelords. This was my arsenal, and with it I kept my guild mates safe as we traversed the hideous, scary planet of Talus. Then Reg decided he wanted to try a combat profession so my pets and I went along to give him a hand. We had great fun; soon there was a group of 5 to 7 of us out getting combat training. We threw down our lutes and picked up swords, flamethrowers etc. We joined forces with OOV and fought the good fight as rebels. Then TIP slowly disappeared as people slowly left the game and I joined TaHn. In this guild I would join up with my friends in "V" and as a dedicated Imperial we chased down Rebels. But as friends came and left, my pets always were constant, always there for me.
Then came the day of Infamy for CH, December 2003 the day that will be forever called BLACK, my faithful friends, my loyal companions were stabbed in the back not by their master, but by the ignoble nerf bat. I can heal them from everything but what the developers did to them and me. December 2003 part of my gaming experience died a very large part. I remember when my twin GSP's were killed in a fight that we normally won, I sat there stunned as I took them back into the data pad after they had suffered their first vitality loss. It was stunning. No more were they fierce some beasts to be wary of, they had become nothing more than a 2 second delay to every MOB and person in the game. And so I had to let them go, Caesar, Napoleon and Julius. Soon after my graul maulers were gone and my gurrecks. I hung onto my battlelords, and gaping spider for a very long time but then eventually I released them into the wild. I still have my Arachne webmaster; my two swamp stalkers but the rest have slowly gone the way of the DOO DOO bird.
We are now closing in on the anniversary of the slaughter and with no hope on the horizon, tired of having no niche, being the very last of all my friends that I started with, I have reconciled myself to the fact that I am also going the way of the extinct. Pem, Tivo, Wallach, and the list continues to increase week after week of Master CH's that have felt the call to leave for other pastures
We have not always agreed on these forums and sometimes I have had to stand firmly on my hands to keep from writing the things that I was actually thinking. We have fought long and hard, we have come up with ideas that are so awesome and forward thinking, more than any other forum, creature handler has been willing to be innovative. We have shaken our fists at the proverbial sky and we have wept over the loss of so many friends leaving the game. We have danced around the pets that many have tamed but in the end, we make no noticeable contribution to the game or the forums. My voice like many before me will become but a whisper in sands of tatooine. The next time you are out looking for krayts or standing on a sand dune looking down the valley of bones and you feel a ghostly chuckle in your ear and a nudge in your back, it's just me, Sky, saying, "Come on you'll never know if there is a dragon over that next hill if you don't look."

To my friends and fellow CH's may the sun always shine upon your back, may the road rise up to meet you, may your pets be always at your side and may your way be guarded by your friends.
Tiggs, you know what we need Tiggs, please don't drop the ball, it's all in the lists and the corral plan. Be well my fellow CH's, May the Force be withyou.
Signed Sky, CH to the end

Sky,
You are the man. I have looked up to many CH who are now gone. There are some remaining that I respect but that list grows smaller and smaller. There are fewer and fewer leaders. There are fewer still that will want to step up. You did it in a hectic time. Many new people will not understand why guys like you and I kept CH when there was no reason at all to keep it. If I wanted and interactive animal game I would likely play Zoo Tycoon. I wanted to be a part of the GCW and operate in PvE. That was not to be and still is not at this time.
I know you will do well. And I know I enjoy your perspective on things.

I sat here reading Sky's post. He sums up a few things that is on everyone's mind. A lot of of are leaving. Some the game, some, like myself, only the forums. But he makes good points. Too many masters of the "old school" aren't around. Makes you wounder a bit.
Another leader takes his path out. Another "storm" cloud chased off, to let the "sunshine" in.
Sky, I never got the pleause of hunting with you like me you and pluto planned. Would still like to before your account goes the way of your first tamed.
You guys take care.

To all of you, my companions.

Another giant among CHs leaves us.
/salute Sky
You will be missed.
We'll try to soldier on, but after tonight's launchpad fiasco, I just don't know.

I am sorry to see you go. I've enjoyed your posts. Let it be known that a second generation of MCH will arise one day. I for one am trying to be a leader on my server and will tame all good creatures in your memory. Good luck sky.

Read your letterSky was like looking into a mirror for me
I felt as you did being one of the first MCH on shadowfire and loving it, exploring the worlds with excitement taming pets attaining master status, friends asking me for help, feelings of pride of my pets who always protected us. The black day you spoke of again reflects my own feelings and my love of the game slowly flowing away since. /sigh
I have decided to hang on for a bit, maybe tiggs can do something, maybe after the launch of jtl we shall have some attention besides bannings lol, but hope is a fragile thing here.
I consider you friend and in the least shall pm you occasionally on aim. It would be an honor to keep in contact with you. /bow
I wish you well
