Thread: Swimming mounts and combat a question from a BH

In the long running battle of Bounty Hunters and Jedi, a Jedi will sometimes try and escape to water so that they cannot be attacked. To combat this, BHs have gotten mounts from CHs and used them to travel into the water and attack the swimming Jedi and hopefully beat them (harder without specials)

However, some Jedi are now screaming this is an exploit, and CSRs are beginning to believe them - so people are being warned, etc (I've not had this happen to myself yet).

So, All I'm after is for the CH community and hopefully corr. to tell us either way.

(Tanks states that it's been mentioned as a legit tactic on the corr. boards but I'm after a more 'CH Official' response if possible)

edit: re-phrased the first paragraph/sentence, as I think one of the replies has got the wrong angle

i would say that that is the only few perks of a mount. i dont beleve this is a exploit though.

Exploit, are they for real with that? What's a bigger exploit, runing for water and jumping in to avoid an attacker or chasing after said person on a mount that swims for you?

I can't see how any CSR would take that seriuosly as an exploit. For every tatic that a mark can pull to avoid you there should be a counter tatic. Besides the fact that it fits in perfectly with BH style, getting the mark at all costs.

I think it would be an exploit if you where making the jedi get into water then keep the jedi there somehow while atop your mount attacking him. Or if you where in the water attacking a jedi on land who can't get to you because they would have to swim, but, with not being able to do specials on mounts - and saber throw I don't see that helping you much.

So bottom line, if they are trying to avoid you by getting into water, then by all means you should be able to mount up and go get them. Any Jedi who says differently is selling something lol

hmmm interesting, is it an exploit in the typical sense? no

are they exploiting an advantage? yes

I would hate to see this result in no combat on mounts, even though no specials are allowed when riding it would seem that soe's solution to apease jedi would be nerf it. history has shown this to be true, nerf ch make everyone happy.

Has anyone who has been hunted ever thought to not go into the water and run away.

judging from what you have described a bh hunts a jedi, who is then lured to water like a fool then yells exploit and nerf.

the real fix for this is to be smarter than the bh and not follow with nothing but kill lust on the jedi's mind.

I thought jedi's were supposed to be smart lol

this was a trick people used on npc's last year before uber buffs and armor lmao

Hey devs listen up dont nerf mounts because people use they're lightabers instead of they're heads!!!!

You've not dealt with CSRs then, have you?
There are cases of CSRs being led to believe that a Jedi going AFK in his own private house was an exploit because it prevented the BH from getting to them...

But yes, those in question are claiming it's an exploit because you sometimes get a message saying you can't fire a weapon while swimming, therefore you're classed as swimming while on the mount, and any shots fired are bypassing the swimming system.
(I know I've had cases were I'm switching between being classed as swimming and not while mounted).

I've adjusted the firsdt part of the post, as I think the language of it may have been misleading.

Saw what you rewrote (edited in the orig post)

I find this even funnier now lmao, so a jedi's escape route is now make useless because of mounts lol

I would think them fleeing to water to escape was the exploit and mounts the fix to it.

congrats all BH and CH we have discovered a new use for mounts lol

this is too funny lol

still not an exploit and people should stop whining and figure out how to play this game with tactics and intelligence to overcome any obstacle as the ch's have in this last year.

Explanation for only Jedi PCs using them is .....?

no matter how you cut it, it's not an exploit, Jedi just need to learn that water is not a valid escape route, I doubt very much that the Devs thoguht, hey I know they can swim to get away.

Well i Disagree.....i think it IS an EXPLOIT....you shouldn't be safe just by going into water...you should not be able to fire back while swimming...but u should be able to be shot at...but reduced because of water reflection.....i think it's a shame water saves you..it should HINDER the swimmer...period...then you would have to be DANG sure where the water is located and not get boxed in.......

Having said that, i am a HUGE supporter of JEDI.....i am...but....you have to be realistic....

Zandramadas

I think you mistook what this gentleman thought or was told about the exploit.

the jedi say the mounts swimming and the BH riders being able to fire at them is the exploit not them using water as an escape route lol

To me this is a double standard that while they used (swimming)it was fine untill the BH used mounts to give chase, considering the 15 sec timer, unless the bh has his mount out. they still would have a head start. if the Bh did have his mount out then taking the pet out and fleeing would be an alternative.

no exploits here just clever thinking by both parties and the BH is at this time ontop untill they figure out another means to flee.
