Thread: Anyone else having problems with pets running away...?

Since the last patch I am having horrible problems with my grouped pets running away once they are attacked. This only seems to happen when they draw agro without being commanded to fight.

Example. Was fighting some Toturs(sic) on Talus last night. I did not want to have my pets involved in the battles so I parked them about 80m from the lair. I draw agro and kill off the 1st 5 spawns np. 2nd wave starts to spawn I am engaged with 1 and a 2nd spawns and runs off towards my pets..theone pet who was agro starts running and does not stop till he is offscreen. Had this happen everytime that a grouped pet drawsagro without being commanded into the fight.

I have been a MCH since earlyAug of last year.Never had this problem till after the last patch. I am having the occasional "poofing" of pets as it seems everyone else is but this problemseems to plague me every other fight. I am a Jedi/MCH so most timesI just keep my petsout of range so they dont suckup my xp or to help me break lairs.I can command a pet to attack and there is zero problem. No running ect...

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this same problem. Thanks

Same thing happened to me, I am grinding CH and my pet keeps going *poof* for no reason. I created a ticket for it, let's see the explanation I get *tap foot*

Sorry guys I just have to:

This has been a problem on and off for a long time. Dewbacks and graul/rancor types were the worst offenders of this. It seems everytime they fix it, the next patch breaks the fix.

Actually this was part of the CH nerf last year.

Up till about Feb 2004 Pets didn´t run away, or very very rarely at least.

When they introduced the first stage of the combat upgrade (i.e. ch nerf) in feb. i think it was, pets became total cowards.

(I´m new on these boards. was a ch for a long time last year but the nerf made it unusable. going back on my alt though)

I wish I could have posted that first.

And to those that don't know, Yes that is a real answer by TH back when they acutally answered questions. He was pummeled for that in the CH forums, and the thread is convienently gone

If you examine your "Natural" pets, you will notice that most of them have a ferocity of ZERO. Even the high level "Super" pets like Mereks and stuff. My battlelord collection has a ferocity of zero, as does my Mutant Baz Nich collection. Interestingly enough, my Carniverous Nuna has a ferocity of 5. (I am the man with the chickens of DOOM!) Evidently Bio engineers cried about how natural pets were more ferocious than what they were making, and they thought we were too powerful, so the devs dropped most pets to zero. A fix I discovered for this is, Hotkey the attack command (Use /tellpet attack) and hit it three times. 90% of the time, the pet will stop and re-attack the target, and there is NO combat delay for tellpet, so you dont need to wait 10 seconds for it to go off.

All the time...this bites! Really hope they fix this problem. This happened to me just last night while fighting and ancient bull rancor. They went poof about halfway into him. Right about the time they disappeared, another ancient spawned and attacked. I still almost killed the first ancient, but got killed anyway. I need armor! LOL.

My Gurrcat and I were tearing up the Fort last night, then suddenly he took off running up into the cave. I finally caught up to him near the entrance, of course he decided to attack a group of about 10 Tuskens, 3 of which were warlords. Man did I want to grab the rolled up newspaper after that stunt.

sometimes pets appear to be running away when they actually are trying to fight. the problem is the ideal range issues for AI's especially when you have different body sizes (large vs small). problem has existed forover a year i believewith no resolution.

the other problem i've been having as far as pets are concerned is my pets continue to not stay where and when i tell them too. they may stay at a spot for a few seconds, but begin to start following me again. huge annoyance and resulted in numerous deathblows to pets in PvE when it shouldnt have happened. this problem existed for months if not longer with no resolution.

^I think this guy has it rite.

Ive never had problems with my pets chickening out, but sometimes it does appear as if they are running away from the enemy. When it happens (always when their target is near death) it looks like their target is chasing them when in fact they are chasing their target. I assume its just a visual bug.
