The removal of Pets in figuring Mission Difficulty takes away one of your biggest advantages. Maybe I should say onyl advantage.... I could care less about payout, it's already that way, but now difficulty will not consider teh power of your pet anymore?!?
Now those of us with few combat skills (BEs, Merchants or otherwise) are going to be considered the same as a Novice level Marksman.
Can you say Level 6 missions?
Why hasn't our correspondant stood up and said something about this yet?
It's going LIVE soon.

This is incorrect. What the devs did was clarify how grouping with pets enhances the mission difficulty.
When someone groups with their pet, it increases the owner's difficulty level(thus indirectly increases the mission difficulty level). This is how the system has always worked and still works. For a pet owner, grouping with a petis equivilant to a pistoler going from unarmed then equipping a pistol.
So, the ability of pets to net you higher level missions still works as it did pre-patch.
Now, a potential problem with this patch is that grouped pet *also* counts towards the group member count. Which means if you get a mission with a pet grouped, it will halve your payout under the current grouping system change(your payout from a mission is now always, regardless of who is in range, the mission payout/ number of group members).
So yes, this patch does impact creature handlers in a negative way currently, however it does not change the ability to group with a pet to obtain a higher level mission.

Tess,
Seeing that you are on Test, have you or anyone else comfirmed this is the way it is working with the new patch? If you can post the results, it would go a long way to damping the flames that are bound to flare up.
Thanks, and all you guy/gals on test keep up the good work. Most of us DO appreciate what you do for us live server folks![]()

Vert this is important it is hard enough for a ch to earn money in this game and now our missions will be nerfed too. not acceptable.
we are going to be punished for the only reason people want us in groups, why should they even ask a ch to be in one now.
I dont do solo groups personally but considering the prices of thing like brandy weapons.... we need this i'm not a millionare in this game and the few times i have been buying a few essentials takes half of it.
we shall be nerfed to 5k missions,to buy a case of brandy is 125k on my server. you do the math
take me a month just to afford this. ah but is that the goal keep us playing no matter how mundane it is.
this must go vert, no excuses it must go. the devs are out of line nerfing the ch's only source of income "missions"

Vert tested this. With a level 70 pet he was pulling level 37 missions as a Novice Marksman. 37 > 25 which is the max for a single person Elite Master. So, solowith a pet you'll still pull higher missions thanks to your pets, you'll just get half the payout. Which, if you're not an Elite Combat in the first place, is either the same or higher than using just your own skills. Depending on the planet of course.

So, is a MTK/MR going to get half the level payout for using his rifle or knucklers? This sounds like they are trying to kill the last method a CH had to make money and survive in this game. If a MR equips a cdef he get lower level missions than if he equips a T21. If I group with a low level pet, I get lower level missions than if I group with a higher level pet. It is the same thing but now I have to "share" my payout with that pet??? Ok, them make the MR share his payout with his rifle.

Coming back first time after 2 weeks into this forum and the first thing i see is another nail into the coffin? What is exactly the point of this or is just another one of those pre-CR patches like the one from before JTL wherethey just lowered the lvls for missions but left the difficulty itself the same (to make it harder to earn money again because the missions get harder for the same payout).

sry, that is freaking weak. We have zero way of making cash now, thanks. If i do the same job as a group, I should get payed just as much. The master creature handler should be the only solo profession in my opinion.
I am not one to complain, but give me a freaking break. The creature handler is officially dead if you people are gonna hurt our earning potential even more. I am the poorest character on my server, thanks for the good rodgering there folks.

Hmmm, I don't think I have ever posted on the CH boards despite the fact that I have been CH from the beginning (I did not even have a station account for months). I have always maintained my Love of the profession and my pets. I used to be a Ranger/CH with some pistols...a very fun, but weak profession. After the big pet change I was too weak to support this character financially. So, I changed to TK/CH with some medic. So, while I was uspet about the weakening of my original fun template, I survived adn stil had fun. One of the last vestages of the CH professsion was the ability to pull a higher difficulty mission than others and get a better payout. Seriously, the pet selling market is a joke. How many natural pets do you have? Yeah i Have my manti schreech and Frenzied Grual, maybe one or two others for sentimental value, but basically all my pets are BE...and so should yours except for the rare well nigh impossible to find ones.
Now, given that, the removal of one of our last benefits is a true death strike to our profession. We have survived so much and still held our heads high. Why take our last bits from us? Has anyone done comparative stats as to just how many MCHs are left? God I hate to say it, but I feel defeated. I have held onto this profession for so long but this is just causing me to lose heart. I've even managed to hold faith through the hundredes and hundreds (dare I say near a thousand?) Bull Rancor lairs I have killed trying to spawn a little baby!! I can accept the hunt for the grail. But now, the hunt is over. I will give this patch some time to sink in but I fear that my days as a MCH are numbered and nothing in this game make me sadder then leaving one of the most intriguing and fun professions out there.
Sorry for the rant but the SOE sucker punch hit me hard.

Okay guys you are all wrong this is a damn good thing for the devs to do. You guys are whineing for no reason the pet still jacks up your rewards, and to be honest anyone who is just useing one combat prof should only be getting a one prof winning total. Your still able to draw higher level missions for xp, and you are still getting a higher payout. I have been dreaming of this moment.
The solo groups are whacked, and people use them to draw level 80 missions. Level 80 with 30k payouts. In a day of hard work you can easily make a million credits. This is part of why the games economy is utterly broken, and why crates of brandy are able to go for 125k. This will actually make people group more often. It will atleast destroy the value of solo grouping. Here is why you regularly draw a mission level of 25 that is worth five thousand credits. Now you have been solo grouping to get 30k a mission. Now you only get 5k. Well first things first to do these high level missions you are needing to get buffed. 20k there so now you need run four missions to just pay for your buffs, and two more missions to pay for food.
Now check this out its crucial for mastered profs. Why the hell do a spawn mission with ten people. For thirty k and then go fight a level 80 mob that is super hard, and takes alot out of you to do. Just to make 3k worth of credits. While if you are just alone you can draw a five thousand credit. Need no buffs, and need no food. Plus take a heck of alot less wear and tear on your equipment and yourself.
This eliminates solo grouping. To a large extent. If you solo grouping with people your not actually grouping with anyone. Hopefully this will actually play to the chs advantage. People will actually go back out and start tackling less economy based targets. Like krayt dragons, and other high level mobs. People might actually start doing GCW more. All things where a high levelcreature tank will do well.
Even better then that doctors will suddenly notice a market drop in buffs. People will pick up on the fact why pay 20k plus to do missions which I can handle without the buffs. The result will be obvious without a huge market to gouge doctor buffs will become less prevalent in game. Which still in in favor of the ch, because we can attack and our pets can attack and we can use 1000 pet stims to keep our pets up for quite some time.
So this is not a ch curse its a freaking ch blessing. We might actually be wanted for groups for more then jamming another pet into the group so everyone else can get higher paying missions. You guys need to look at the bigger picture. The bigger picture is if the only reason you play this game is to earn worthless credits then why are you still playing. If your bigger picture is to go kill real cool stuff with other people this will be your dream come true. I have always thought ch was alot more fun when grouped with people takeing on real hard targets. The campers are getting smacked with less and less campable content. Now the sologroupers will not be able to sologroup. Eventually they will get tired of solo grouping everything and come back to playing with everyone else.
A less bloated economy will mean far fewer part time crafters. Who just craft to make oodles of money. Miners that live by gougeing the crafters will not be able to sell resources at 25 credits a unit anymore. This will bring alot of people in corners just doing their own thing back to playing the main game dynamic. Grouping to go kill high level stuff. Participateing in pvp. Working to form strong groups for base defenses and so on.
I for one have always preferred ch as a way cool grouping profession. Where you give the entire group your pet tank to use. People compliment you on your nice pets, and you actually make a real difference. If you idea of ch is to make tons of money. Then odds are you chose the wrong profession anyway.

why cant anyone at swg/soe admit when they are wrong
they caused the solo-group when they nerfed all creatures last year, to appease some people because ch were considered overpowered. when a simple skill tree mod was all that was needed.
now to fix the problem they have caused its time to nerf our economic well bieng for the so-called benifit of the game. did anyone developing this think of what problems these new patches would cause.
to offset missions payouts, meat, hide, bone shal increase. new people have it hard as it is and will probably find it impossible to buy this game and start as a crafter or doctor since organic goods are beyond they're reach.
earning money for combat professions will be much much longer, grind grind grind. hello everyones tired of grinding havent you people read anything in the forums?? dont you play this game as you say you do??
the economy is a mess as it is and know you shall mess it up even more just as it has started to level off since the profession grind.
game play will become overwelmingly boring if you triple the time it takes toearn any type of cash.
and if as TH has said and you are finnally working on the combat revamp (i wonder if it is actually true this time after reading this new group system) wouldn't the solo grouping and many of the group problems be balanced out with the upcomming combat upgrade??
or is this another example of lack of caring or foresite that history has shown repeats here. your ch revamp last year was useless since uber buffs and armor came out a month later. and again created the problems your trying to correct now with another nerf only to create bigger problems when the combat upgrade goes live. "that is if it is true and is being worked on"
makes me wonder hmmm ive been here before havent I
