Why are players allowed to control a CL 125 AT-ST with no SP cost when as a MCH I have to spend 106 SP to control aCL 70 pet? Even if it can only be used on faction missions it still wrong. I wonder what the playerbase would think if the devs allowed players access to a VK that could only be used against Mokks that made the user do more damage than even a master TK, gave them alot better damage mitigation, and on top of that had a different damage type other than kinetic.

Well, my thinking is this. An AT-ST is not an organic creature with instinct, senses,or aggressive feelings. It is a mechanical device that responds to commands from ANYONE who inputs said commands. I have always said comparing an AT-ST to a living organic creature is like apples and oranges.

Thats not the point........If that was the only thing that mattered when giving players strong non creature pets the devs would have allowed DE's to make super battle droids. Its the principle of allowing the other players access to a pet (i know its not a creature but it is still considered a pet)that can beat anything we have avaliable to us and on top of that not have to spend any SP for it.

I think it is the point. . .to a point.
You don't have to have a rapport with a mechanical device. You don't have to empathize with it. You don't have to tame it. You don't have to worry about it's temperament. Because they are not alive. Anyone can PROGRAM, not TRAIN a droid or robot to do what it wishes. There is no special training required to program a command into a droid. If that is the case, then you are saying there should be a skill tree for someone to use a probe droid or an R2 unit, since they are by CH standard, above non-CH level.
I understand what you are saying. A guy pulls out theAT-ST and your pets are done. But then, maybe your petsshould not be fighting it. Perhaps then, it's time to utilize the conventional weapons.Maybe I'm being too pragmatic about it.
During this discussion, I cannot help but think of historical images of World War II when the Germans invaded Poland and the Polish army attacked the Nazi Panzer and Tiger Tank divisions. . .with mountedcavalry. However, as this is now being called a combat class, who can say that the scenarios will not change?

I think your still viewing CH as a support class.
LikeI said, hopefully things will change with the revamp, as our designation is now, supposedly, a combat class.

I beg to differ Darth. My friend is running an AI project with two digital cameras and has yet to program the robot to successfully recharge itself when the power is low.
NOT anyone can program a droid. What you may be able to do is get it to recognize your voice and do a preset series of commands when they are triggered. But you cannot program it if you are not a programmer.
If I were to agrue your point for you Darth, I would use the fact that faction points do not drop from out of the middle of nowhere. In fact, Faction points for a CH can be very hard to gain. Enough Faction Points to buy an AT ST that can easily be destroyed by any buffed commando with the correct armor. The only good use for AT ST is that they contribute to mission levels much like our own pets.

I'm going to assume we are talking about real life here. I'm just saying about the droids in game.

I'm using the term "PROGRAM" as it applies to the radial menu when you click on the droid and has the PROGRAM option.

Ironically, I was actually going to use the faction points argument and point out how hard they are to accumulate, since AT-STs are purchased with them(12,000I believe)and enforce my point with the added risk of said player using an AT-ST has having to be overt to do so, but I've been accused by some here of being condescending, so I left that out, asI figured it was obvious.

Your argument starts off very much as if you are saying that one is not connected to a droid. It must be built and programmed to function properly (using this term as the builder must do it).
No one has to worry about a pets temperment after it is tamed. Once it is tamed it is non-agro to the player-owner. Truthfully it is more a hassle that Non-CH cannot teach the basic attack, follow, trick1, and group commands. I personally wish they had default commands for these and they were the only usable commands for Non-CH. I also would relish a /NamePet command. This would make my life easier.
There was once upon a time talk of a Droid Handler/Commander/Master type profession. It is the major reason there are no uber combat droids. Had the DE not raised a ruckus you would see more droids doing far greater damage than pets.

Uhoh someone kicked the anthill. Realistically though I seriously doubt the super atst of old will be around much longer. The tin can was number one on the rebel hitlist. Here was the problem it used to take thirty rebels. Traveling to the cloner over and over again to put down an atst. The rebels were outraged because the rebels got nothing for being rebels. The rebels then got wise to the tincan, and started burning them to the ground. Faster even then the imps could grind out faction points to replace them.So the imps cried a freaking storm. Its not fair that ten rebels can put down my walker. So the devs caved, and made them resist to all accept blast. Which how many people carry blast weapons. We all get a special blast weapon called a c12 fragmentation grenade, and it blows.
The point was that the imperials were supposed to be outnumbered seven to one. Well with the walker, and the use of it missioning, and tormenting unlimited players early on. Alot of people just went imp to get a walker. So this item is not like a factional balance anymore even. Now they are mostly limited to faction missions. The same faction missions you run forever to make the faction points to get a walker, and since it takes a huge group of rebels to take one down now, and most people cannot attack them strategically with their own skills. They are really just avoided.
I think the walkers should be weakened up again and cost less to get. Make it a level thirty pet, and give the rebels a combat perk. Even it is just something designed to take down walkers. I doubt the devs will do anything with factional items till the GCW revamp. This is one more thing in the game not acting as intended. Evening a battlefield which sadly is already evened out.

I understand the confusion there. I should have been more clear.

The temperament statement was making reference to apet/animal being self-aware, whereas a droid isn't(well, in SW who can really say). That's all. The /namepet command would be awesome to have. I'm sure Tiggs has been asked about this a few times.

I think the CL rankings for inorganics should be done away with altogether. It would cause less confusion.

OK. I do want to point out that IG-88 was a self aware droid. As a sentient being he killed his creator.
As far as self aware SWG style there has to be an explanation as to why any droid listens to one person over another. This is awareness of rules. I must do this task when this specific person tells me to do so.
Restraining bolts versus shock collars if you will.
