It is a common practice to "bundle" old and new software to get an influx of sales. This is industry wide practice, and as such, completely understandable.
However, SOE and LA's decision to sell the "Total Experience" bundle at a retail of $29.99 is a DIRECT slap in the face of your MANY subscribers who less than ONE month ago paid $24.99 for a Digital Download of Rage of the Wookies BY ITSELF.
Pray tell us - I am being resonable, and I would like the answer. Why did I have to pay $24.99 for this expansion? I already owned JTL (Which I paid $30 for). I already (of course) own the original game (Which I paid $49.99 for).
For myself - I am going to stay with SWG. Swords and Sorcery don't excite me, and even though many will say this is merely a skinned version of EQ2, it LOOKS like Star Wars, and I have many friends in game.
But I really DO want an explanation from an SOE representative.
Why have you violated your Veteran user base? Whydid we pay the SAME price for JUST the Digital Download expansion that your hoped for new players will pay at Best Buy for everything? (Best Buy's price is $24.99 when using their $5 discount) Why do NEW players get the most sought after vehicle in the game (BARC Speeder) and we get the Veractyl (A creature *I* prefer, but MOST Vets wanted the BARC)?
Why?

JTL and SWG are both essentially worthless at this stage. If people were going to get them, they'd have them by now. In an effort to attract new players, they're giving away the base game and first expansion when you buy the second. The $5 is actually to cover the cost of making the boxes, the manuals, the CDs, and all the other junk that goes into puting a game on a shelf, rather than as a download.

Nice plant, SOE- We were onto her three boards ago. The truth is - we generated so much bad press and negativity towards the release, the only way to get a market for subscription was to give the core game away with it.
It was a duplicitous tactic to maximize profits and reduce loss after the thousands of account cancellations and anticipated bad press.
And, yes it was a direct slap in the face of those who opposed the "new order."
There is one truth in Treena's post though- JTL and SWG are esentially worthless at this stage

We should have gotten the rewards for the retail box in the download, or a CHOICE of which one we wanted.
That would have been nice and cost SOE nothing. Unfortunately, SOE cares so little about we, who merely pay their bills, they didn't do it.

"We were onto her three boards ago."
Can someone tell me what this guy is saying? The words make sense individually, but when you put them all together, they lose any semblance of meaning. Not that conspiracy theorists manage to have much meaning, but still...

Oh, I was planning on doing that anyway. But I'm horribly curious by nature, and I would like to know what I am ignoring. Especially since he seems to have me "figured out" so well.

You see Treena, we all KNOW that the value of the initial release and JTL are diminished - That is addressed in my post. As I said, it is an industry standard.
My main question still revolves around this - Why are NEW players being given a reward for buying a game that the hype from the Movie itself should sell? Especially a reward that SO many Veterans are expressing desire for?
It would seem SUCH a simple gesture to give the loyal players (By loyal, I mean those of us who have paid $15 per month for lord knows how many months) a way to get the BARC without needing to spend $24.99 TWICE. (Digital Download and All In One pack).
After all, we've demonstrated our fiscal loyalty. We will still be here after an initial free month.
Can the same be said for all those just now buying the entire package?

How many speeders does the average player own? Now, how many creature mounts? How many zones on Kashyyyk do not allow the use of speeders? While the BARC may be "cooler" (depatable, I think it looks ugly), a veteran player will likely need the varactyl a lot more, as most players I know are full up on speeders, but don't have a single creature at all. Up until now, few people have had any reason to use creatures, as a speeder was always better.

We all know you've loved the CU since it hit TC.
What do you think of how SOE handled it?
What of community relations, the way people have been treated, and the total LACK of communications or any SIGNIFICANT bug fixes on the live servers in a month?
Are you good with that?
Will you defend that?

I haven't had any problems with their relations. But, as I said before, I don't expect to be told anything. As to how people have been treated, I (obviously) haven't seen anything wrong with it. Yes, messages were disapearing. I trust that those messages were violating the rules in some way. I have no reason to believe that they weren't, and my experience with the players of this game causes me to trust SOE a lot farther than I trust the people on this board. If it's another player's word vs. that of a SOE representative, I side with SOE. They've proven to be a lot more level headed.
I haven't seen the lack of communications that everyone else seems to. I've seen patches, I've seen attempts at bug fixes, and I've seen things repaired. We've got another update patch on TC right now, set to add some really cool things to the game and also fixing some bugs with various professions. I haven't hit any "SIGNIFICANT" bugs, so the lack of "any SIGNIFICANT bug fixes" doesn't really surprise me.
As to the release of the CU, that's not SOE's fault. LucasArts set the release date, where SOE's policy up until then had been "You'll get it when it is done". With that in mind, I fully support releasing it, buggy as it was, to Live. More people going through it means that they can identify and fix the things that need fixing faster. The same is true of RotW. A few days ago, I identified three bugs that were keeping me from advancing through the game in another post on this forum. Yesterday, two of those three had been fixed. I haven't gone back to the Warren to try that one again. So it isn't as though they aren't working on it. Would I like it to be faster? Sure. But I trust that they're doing it as fast as they can, and that's good enough for me.

Oh, and on the subject of "lack of communication", Tiggs was in the chat room while the servers were down this morning, answering questions for us.
