Thread: What's the deal with the carriage returns?
Anybody have any clue why we can't get carriage returns to be recognized when we type?
None of the posts I've been seeing have any kind of carriage returns - makes it impossible to start new paragraphs. Am I going to have to type in <br> the html command to get a new line?
Any kind of work around on this?
B
I am just hitting enter twice at the end of a paragraph, and at the end of the post to stop the bottom line of the post and the top line of the signature from being next to eachother.
Its a pain though.
Are you using the HTML editor, or the graphical editor? If you're using the html editor, do you have the "Automatically convert carriage returns to HTML line breaks" box checked? With the forum update, that option might've gotten reset...
I am using the grahical editor and a single CR is not creating a space.
On this one I use a double CR to see what happens.

Hey Tiggs, if it's any help pointing Lithium to the right place, if I look at my posts (composed in the graphical editor) they have the
tags around the "paragraphs". This is a slight improvement from before the update, wherethe
tag was being used. But after posting there aren't any blank lines between the paragraphs unless I also include an "empty" paragraph.
I'm no web designer, but is there anything in the Lithium forum software (or maybe the style sheets) that handles how the
tags are interpreted / displayed?
And Ekymer: you can tweak your personal font settings in the "My Profile" -> Preferences. I'm not sure how comprehensive that change will be, but it may be a start.

that only changes the forum titles sizeon the main page, but not the message font nor the thread font when you browse a forum.
Ihavenever adjusted my forums postings settings. I have the carriage return problem also.
The simple solution is to put 2 carriage returns in when you want to end your paragraph.
2 CR's will give you a blank line between each paragraph - as shown here.
If you want more, just keep hitting enter. Just the first one is lost.

Click My Profile, click Preferences, and uncheck "Use WYSIWYG Message Editor". That should help. It'll also help if you know basic HTML.
You have just made my day. Thank you.

It would also be nice to be able to post from Mozilla Firefox.
