Thread: What's the deal with the carriage returns?
Please fix the font size. I can't read the forums anymore without getting a headache. ![]()
I'm pretty saddened that LITHIUM spend time developing "Get updates to this post by RSS feed" and not into fixing the auto-login problem, or the fact we still can't easily do URL links in posts, both of which are standard fareon all forum software at whatever price - so what's Lithium's excuse?
And I have tried amending the font settings, but it's no use; not all fonts obeythe new setting and there arelayout issues as a result.I can't read the forums without getting a headache. Please fix.
edit: Once again "Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied." and how long has this been going on for? Amateurish, tbh.

None of the posts I've been seeing have any kind of carriage returns - makes it impossible to start new paragraphs. Am I going to have to type in
the html command to get a new line?Any kind of work around on this?

Tiggs do you know when Lithium is going to solve the problem with ranks not updating properly? According to a list posted by Garva i shoudl be a few ranks higher than i am now.
That change is giving me a real headache as well

QFE, as it points out all my major gripeswith the Lithium forum as well.
P.S.:
I was just typing that one little line above, hit "Submit Post", and got "Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied." again... now that's just ridiculous.
Although I have an idea of what brought it on and how to recreate it - I was changing the last few words in the above statement. The way I usually do this in any text editor, is select all the text I want to change, then just start typing (which will replace the selected text). That works here too, except Lithium automaticall inserts a carriage return when you do that. So I went to the beginning of the now new line and hit backspace. Guess that left some faulty HTML in its wake (maybe by removing the <P> tag but not the </P> tag? Just a guess...)

It would also be nice to be able to post from Mozilla Firefox.

Hey Tiggs, if it's any help pointing Lithium to the right place, if I look at my posts (composed in the graphical editor) they have the <p> tags around the "paragraphs". This is a slight improvement from before the update, wherethe <div> tag was being used. But after posting there aren't any blank lines between the paragraphs unless I also include an "empty" paragraph.
I'm no web designer, but is there anything in the Lithium forum software (or maybe the style sheets) that handles how the <p> tags are interpreted / displayed?
And Ekymer: you can tweak your personal font settings in the "My Profile" -> Preferences. I'm not sure how comprehensive that change will be, but it may be a start.

Click My Profile, click Preferences, and uncheck "Use WYSIWYG Message Editor". That should help. It'll also help if you know basic HTML.
Well, I'm trying to figure out how to do hyperlinks again (clickies) and the new source code option doesn't seem to work at all either. I know HTML pretty extensively and I can't get any HTML code to work at all. If I type any HTML code, it just comes out as text. So if I make a hyperlink and use the edit as html option, It doesn't make a hyperlink at all, it just prints out the HTML code as I typed it. I've been doing this since I joined in 2003 and the clicky has always worked.
Glad to know there is at least a way around the paragraphing issues. Was bugging me so much I didn't even want to post.
I also would like if lithium could fix the save password option so I don't auto logout after 15 min. It really sucks reading a long thread then go to post and I have to log back in again. Some of those threads can be very long on one page since I have the number of post displayed per page on it max setting (hey, I just like to scroll down instead of click a new page every 10 post especially when the forums are overloaded, it's much faster).
