To answer your questions:

  • When you purchase the digital download you will also receive the JTL content free and be able to access it. The digital download is on pre-order right now and after we go to regular orders JTL will still come free with the download.

  • For those of you that purchased JTL already you are paying to receive the EP3 content.

In english please. I don't have a devspeak dictionary handy to translate. The wayI read your post is that either way we look at it, current JTL owners will still have to pay the full price to play ROTW.Personally I'd feel much better if a dev (or anyone that has the authority) came here and answered our questions in the following manner.

1-If you already own SWG but DO NOT own JTL, ROTW will cost.............in stores and via DD.

1a-This version will contain the full or trial version of JTL for free via DD only.

1b-This version wil contain the full or trial version of JTL for free in stores only.

2-If you own BOTH SWG and JTL, ROTW will cost...........via DD ONLY.

3-If you DO NOT own SWG or JTL, you can buy a complete set that also includes ROTW for............in stores only.

Any prices listed would be MSRP.

I honestly feel, as do many many others, that current JTL owners deserve some form of discount or incentive to buy ROTW. With the way it looks right now, my purchase(s) (I have 3 accounts) will depend on 2 things in the following order. 1) How much "I" enjoy the CU and 2) If I get a deal for being a current owner of JTL. Even if the CU works out "for me", there's no chance of me getting ROTW if there's no discount. While I do understand that games go down in value, it still doesn't mean I have to pay for them. I could very well afford to buy as many copies as I want, but there should be a sense of value. In this case, the value would be for someone who is new to the game or who doesn't have JTL.

SOE, do what's right for the loyal players (ie early adopters of JTL).

Look at it this way... with the way they depreciate the value of their own product, you should be able to buy about 8 accounts with allexpansionsfor 50 cents within 3 months.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

What they mean do not pay for any expensions at all. In about 3 months you will be able to purchase a copy of SWG + all the expansions for about $15.

Please help me understand this better Tiggs.

For those of you that purchased JTL already you are paying to receive the EP3 content.

OK, that much I understand. It is the following, I do not.

When you purchase the digital download you will also receive the JTL content free and be able to access it. The digital download is on pre-order right now and after we go to regular orders JTL will still come free with the download.

I do understand that you get the JTL files with the digital download. However, are they not temporary? Or, is JTL now a totally free part of the game?

If it is free, why is the retail box for JTL being put in a package along with the new expansion as well as the base Galaxies game for retail sale? Seems to me that is a waste of money on the publishers end.

My understanding was that the JTL files are temporary and will expire after the “preview” period is over. Meaning, you need to have a cd key from a retail box of JTL if you wish to keep playing after that “preview” time frame.

Such as what I posted on page two of that same thread.

The download is a trial version (just as they have had the 2 week trials of JTL in the past). The download is available on the 5th, two to three weeks before the retail box version. The download will expire; you will need the box when released if you want to continue playing it.

Yes, you will need a box for each account just as you do for JTL. JTL is needed to play this new expansion. The JTL files that come with the download will only be delivered to you if you do not already have JTL.

Again, the JTL download is a trial version and will expire.

Also, you can only get the download if you pre-order the box.

Is that wrong? It seems to be by what you said in your post.

If JTL is now free, can it be downloaded at anytime by anybody that has the core Galaxies game? Or, is it a two for one deal if you buy the expansion? If it is the latter, how do you get JTL if you only buy the retail box for ROTW?

My guess on the last part there is that the launch pad will check for it and deliver it if needed. Is that what you meant by.....and after we go to regular orders JTL will still come free with the download? If not, what is this download you are speaking of? After the "preview" period download time is over, where would one get this other download?

I am not really complaining, it's just that I thought what I posted to the thread (what is in yellow above) was the way it works. Your post however has disalusioned me and now I seek closure.

That's crap

You should be charging those people a little extra for JTL and using some other kind of incentive that applies to everyone.

You know if you don't want the expansion don't buy it, I know I'm paying the $26 to get RoTW whether it includes my already purchased JTL or not. I'm not expecting to get any money back because I bought JTL earlier *gasp* a package deal! If you don't like it don't buy the expansion.

I find it ridiculous that there are people here who think that the money for ROTW is worth it. Think about it this way. I bought JTL when it was in stores for $30. I figured, "Hey, it's an expansion and probably worth the price".

Fast forward to now. JTL is currently price at $19.99 at ebgames and ROTW is being advertised for $24. For those who didn't buy JTL previously that $24 price tag is perfectly acceptable. SOE makes $4 for ROTW (an update) and their $20 for JTL (an expansion). Now consider the person who previously bought JTL for $30 and tell him/her that they will need to spend $24 for ROTW keeping in mind that ROTW is an update and not an expansion. Since they already paid for JTL and have it installed on their computers they are reduced to spending $24 for the update alone. From what I've heard of ROTW it is nore more than what the CU will be or what the introduction of mounts were. Give me one good reason why I should fork over that amount of money for basically what will be no more than a patch? Something that they normally do for my $15mo already.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that those who are upset at this have already purchased JTL and I don't think they're unreasonable. Give those of us who have purchased JTL a rebate and there won't be anything more said over the matter, but you can't conceivably tell intelligent people that they need to, in essence, pay you $50 for JTL and $4 more for the hell of it.

Sounds like a bit more than "an update" to me, atleast as much as expansions for other games.

which was all promissed with JTL, i seem to remember being promissed more then one planet too, what was it, oh yeah, 4 new planets...

What world are we living in?!!

I buy bread Today and it is 2.30 a loaf. A week later it is .30 cent for thesame loaf.

Should I demand a rebate for$2.00 ?! No! I ate the bread when it was Fresh!

I bought 10 games from the "Discount" bin at Game Stop. They where 2 for 1 and
double packs. Should I expect the game developers NOT to offer a better deal for
these "older" games?

I payed full price $20.00 for each SIMS expantion, and guess what, they released
a collecters set that has all of them for $40.00 bucks! I payed $160.00 for them.

Mmmm same thing with Rouge Spear, Diablo, Sim City, Duke Nukem, Harpoon,
I could go on and on..

That's right it makes business sense not to offer people a good deal...mmmmm lets try that again...

I know, lets not ever lower the price on any product as it gets older because people that bought

it when it first came out will be mad...mmmmm well no that does not work either.

I know, lets give people an expantion when they but a newer expantion so that the people that do

already have it can enjoy having more people to play with and it would attact more people to the game

as a whole, after all it is a business....nahhhh that would just be to evil!

Wake up people, this is how the REAL world works! People who buy things when they are new ALWAYS

pay more then those who wait. Ever bought a new car? Well you know the value goes down 30% the moment you drive it off of the lot.

Give it a break, those of us that bought JTL did so because we wanted to enjoy the content of the game.
We did so. We CONSUMED the content. Now, that content is being offer at a price less then what we paid for it. Do not think of getting JTL with RoTW for free, just think of it as half of the purchase price. And if you bought JTL pre-order then you have been enjoying the content for some time now...

Why does he get a free fry with his order! I demand a refund for my burger because I did not get free fries....

Or give me the free fries too....

We are not paying for JTL again, we are getting more people to come and join us in JTL that otherwise would not be.

But it will know we have JTL already, right, and we won't have to wait for our computer to download content we already have...right?

Hope so.

So JtL is free with RotW and those that paid for JtL are still paying the same as those that didn't and aren't getting any compensation?

Your compensation is getting to play it 6 months sooner than the people who get it for free now.
