Thread: =SOE DEVs !! Do we have to pay for JTL again ?=

This is done in every MMORPG, nothing new. If you buy Ultima Online now you can get the game and all expansions for less than the original game costed at launch. For Anarcy online you can even get the basic game free (and no monthly cost) and then upgrade to at least some of the expansions free but when you need to start paying the normal monthly. A year from now you can probably buy SWG with JTL and RotW included for what you would pay for SWG alone now if you are willing to wait. So sure you can wait with buying RotW if you want, in the meantime the rest of us will have fun on Kashyyyk with our cybernetic limbs.
Not sure why people have never understood this. Everyone seems to be suprised. Guess the educational system isn't what it used to be.

- For those of you that purchased JTL already you are paying to receive the EP3 content.
So JtL is free with RotW and those that paid for JtL are still paying the same as those that didn't and aren't getting any compensation?
Ahh man. I guess it pays to not stay up to date with expansions then. I should have just waited 6 months.
I know its not your fault tiggs, but it sucks.
So in December the next expansion comes out, it'll include RotW and JTL? Maybe I will wait.

When you pay $10 to see a movie, do you go back in 2 months and demand $8.50 back because people are now paying $1.50 to see it in the dollar theatre?
A Movie is one thing....something your purchase that you keep is another thing! All goes back to the apples and oranges...
At certain stores who care about their customer base...when you buy something at say $100 and within a certain time period the price at the store goes to $80, you can return with your receipt and they will reimburse you the difference....Happy Customers make REPEAT customers!
My problem with software though is that when you buy JTL for instance...if the software changes then you will receive updates yes, but it's still the same software...In our case where you have to have JTL to play the Wookiee Crap, then those with JTL should not have to pay for it again when purchasing the Wookiee Crap...
Now some will say "You aren't paying for JTL you're paying for the Wookiee Crap" You're paying for both!
Those who don't have JTL now will receive it! Those who have it are getting the shaft...plain and simple...
If they cared...(practical business sense not-with-standing) they would offer the Wookie Crap with JTL at a price for those who don't have it, and offer it at a lower price for those with the prereqs...
If the system requirements changed to (hypothetical) 5 gigs of RAM tomorrow would SOE go purchase a 5gig chip for all of it's playerbase? NO! We would have to buy it ourselves to play the game!
If the Wookiee Crap is required to have JTL for you to play it, then SOE should require you to purchase it seperately, unless it's in a bundled package, in which it appears that is the case....but practicality for a good customer relationship would package the Wookiee Crap for those who already have the prereqs...
Ain't much we (those how have already filled the requirements for playing the Wookiee Crap) can do, but grin and bear the screwing that will commence to those who have already shelled out the money....
Just my one cent and nothing more...

Are you sure Tiggs?
You know that buy on get one free offers are illegal in some countries e.g. Germany?
So I suggest your lawyers look at the legality of what you are stating here.
They aren't a buy one get one free. You buy RotW you get JtL included.
Back in 1997 the New big thing was DVD players. I was one of the first to buy it and it cost me $800.00, now adays you can get a DVD player for about $50.00 I think I am owed something for the fact that someone can just walk into walmart and buy something for about 1/20th the price I paid for it.
Seriously, those of us who bought JtL when it came out 1. Paid for the development for it 2. GOT TO PLAY IT FOR 6 MONTHS BEFORE SOMEONE WHO PURCHASED RotW. It is your right to not buy RotW and wait till the next expansion and if they include RotW in it then you get it for free.
If you chose to wait and get it with the next expansion, if they include it with the next expansion, then I would have had 6 months to play RotW with less people on the planet.
So for that, I thank all of you who don't purchase RotW and hold out for it being on the next expansion.

No kidding, it's not like this is some new thing.
I can go to the store to buy Neverwinter Nights + both expansions for less than I paid for the original game when it came out, plus I bought both expansions right off. I'm not expecting BioWare to cut me a check for 60 bucks.

That's just absurd though. Anyone that's not an idiot understands the idea of depreciation. You pay a premium to play the game when it first comes out, when it's brand new. When it's not new, and therefore less appealing, they lower the price to get more people to buy it. In another 6 months I'll more than likely be able to go buy a copy of Doom 3 + the expansion included for less than the original product, what reason do I have to complain that I paid the initial price to play it from the release date?
It's just ridiculous to assume that you should be compensated for getting to play the game months before anyone that didn't pay for it, even if they do want to package it for free with the new expansion.

So in other words, you only get a temp JTLS key, so you can beta test ROTW right? lol

Some people need to take an economic class in these forums. I bought JTL 3-4 months after it was released for 9 bucks. It makes sense that they are giving it out for free, everything loses value as time passes (well, except for some collectibles I guess). I bought the collector's edition of SWG when it first came out for 80 something bucks, now the same exact thing costs 30 bucks. Should I go around whining and asking for something free because the thing lost it's value?
I tried to offer some feedback and some advice...I'll bow out now to those who think they have Masters Degrees in Economics....I guess it's true...Publik Edukashun doesn't teach anything...
And as far as depreciation...the value of JTL went from $40 bucks to $2 the first day IMHO...only thing I used JTL for after a week of having it was the instant space travel...with the reduced shuttle times, almost makes it a moot point...
They realised how bad and non-exciting it was after they released it and that's why it's free....Simple Economics goes like this young Gatlichu...Make em pay for it when it comes out, make em pay for it again later...Money Money Money Money...A Good business doesn't care about customers until a lawsuit forces them to, otherwise unless their accountant's books show black at the end of the month instead of red, and the Head Honcho can't afford his new Rolls Royce they don't care....THAT'S ECONOMICS!....Government's been using similar policies for years!
