I think it means the following: To play RoTw you NEED to have JTL, and because of the free testing period, they are also giving JTL *DURING THE TESTING PERIOD* to play RoTw, after that JTL goes byebye if you hadnt bought it already...
I thnk that we wont be able to Shuttle to kashyyk and thats why we need JTL to buy rotw
...JTL goes bybye if you hadn't bought it already... That may be technicaly very difficult to implement and maybe even impossible. (Not to mention rather crual). And that still leaves the problem with people buying the expansion and not being able to use it until they get hold of a copy of JTL.
And "during the testing period" would imply that the download is a trial. There is no indication whatsoever on the starwarsgalaxies and LucasArts pages that the download is indeed a trial. There is no indication that the download (or part of it) is temporary either.
I'm going to wait for either some official word from LucasArts or the pre-order page (whatever comes first) to draw my conclussions though.
1) What happens with players who have SWG but don't have JTL? According to the CSR's facts those players wouldn't be able to use any ROTW features unless they find a copy of JTL. Yet all JTL data is available on their HD. What happens to those people who have taken up shipwright or pilot skills? What happens to their ships & equiment? What happens if they log off on Kashyyyk?
2) If this is indeed a 'preview' untill you enter the code from the box then what happens if you never input that key? Actually, for those whoalready have JTL, why a second key anyway? Why a download AND a box with CD's?
3) Why does it say that JTL is included with your 'order of the digital download'. If indeed JTL were temporary than it is NOT included in the order, just in the download.
4) Why would they choose the term 'digital download' and NOT link it to the word 'preview'? Yes, the word preview does appear in the message but that is used as "view before anybody else" and not as what we consider to be a 'preview'.

ok i will try to answer these for you:
1) A) if you don't have JTL then you can't play ROTW.
B) the HD is so that ppl can see some of the new things like the new races brought into the game with JTL
C) for a Person to be a Shipwright or a pilot you would have to have JTL which means no changes in ROTW exept for the new material being added
D) nuthing will happen to your ship or equipement during the upgrade to ROTW
E) if you log off of kashyyyk then you'll log in on kashyyyk but if you don't have JTL or ROTW you won't be on kashyyyk.
2) A) you won't be able to play after the trial period is over.
B) one was a pre-order key so you could play JTL on the beta servers before it come out and also for the reward you earned for pre-ordering A.K.A. the Flashspeeder
C) the download is like the pre-order disc that cam with JTL you got the pre-order disc with key and got to play. only difference is not alot of download time for it just pop the disc load and play. plus the real expansion CD with have the key needed to contuning playing ROTW after the trial is over.
3) Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided™ and Jump to Lightspeed™ are required to play this expansion.Jump to Lightspeed is included with your order of the digital download expansion,Episode III Rage of the Wookies. like stated earlier this is the pre-order download not the real thing.
4) well it is describing the way they are delivering the pre-order by way of digital download... and yes that is what i consider a preveiw lol
i hope this helped you some thank you for using Geist info line have a great day of SWG grinding
sorry wanted to add alittle humor to a long post

Why are we all up in arms about getting the expansion for free when u buy RotW?
You are all saying "I already paid this much for JTL" Blah blah blah.
Had you not paid for it you wouldn't have to pay for it now correct?
Think about this for a second, JTL was released months ago, you are saying you would rather not have had JTL for those months and got it free now? Did anyone here get up in arms when PS2 games were moved from normal to platinum? Thus about £10 cheaper? I sure as hell didn't because i got to play the game before it was in cheap mode.
download if it is the game or just a pre-ordered version ?
CSR Jimmy G.: One moment please.
ME: ok ty sir
CSR Jimmy G.: Rage of the Wookies is the different expansion.
CSR Jimmy G.: Yes it is for $24.99
CSR Jimmy G.: $24.99 is a pre-order price
CSR Jimmy G.: Is there anything else I can help you with today Wayne ?
ME: does that include JTL ?
ME: cause if it does what does that mean for ppl who already
have JTL?
CSR Jimmy G.: This expansion doesn't include JTL.
CSR Jimmy G.: You must have JTL for this expansion

Yes. I can't remember the last time I even went to space. JtL was a bit of a disappointment for me. It definitely was not worth the money I spent on it.

I think this is fairly clear - afterall, how many times are the CSRs right?
Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided™ and Jump to Lightspeed™ are required to play this expansion.Jump to Lightspeed is included with your order of the digital download expansion,Episode III Rage of the Wookiees.

My guess is that its "free" because you are doing the digital download and not having them incur the cost of media, etc. (2 for the price of one). If ROTW goes retail, it will be interesting to see if the price is the same for the boxed version, but it does NOT include JTL (though it will be required). I cant see them pulling all the JTL copies off the shelf when wookies hits.
My preference would be that existing JTL subscribers get either a free DL of ROTW, or a service credit (2 months) or even a rebate for ROTW. Doubtfull, but I still went ahead and pre-ordered.
