I liked the old version a lot better.
You don't see anymore who or when the last post was made, nor do you see the threadtitle. This was one of the nice features of the old version.
Also it seems that with categories with more than 10 forums inside (namely Professions, Galaxy and Galaxy Trade) the forums you see are sorted by last post made. I'm not exactly sure, since you can't really compare it easy anymore.
Anyway, I'm playing on Starsider exclusively, as most other players only play on one or perhaps two servers. So most forums beside Starsider and Starsider Trade don't interesst me in those two categories.
The same for Professions. There are 4 Profession boards that I frequent and thats it. I sometimes check others of course as well, but very rarely. I don't need to know that there are 200 new posts in the Jedi or the Carbineer forum, I will not check them anyway.
This brings me to my last point:
I used the Bookmark system of the old layout to keep those 6 forums I usually read just a click away. The bookmarks are on the bottom of the new layout, far out of reach.
Oh, I just saw that one can change the layout of the site. Sorry didn't see that before.
If one can choose to use the old version instead, then I guess this new one has its right to exist
Another edit. Seems we can get a more "verbose" version of the new system, but its not the old one, and it still has the same flaws as above. Sorry

One thing I liked about the old style was my bookmarks and subscriptions where at the top. Those are the ones I looked at first and where easy to navagate to. Now the bookmarks and subscriptions are all the way down at the bottom of the page. Would be nice to be able to move the bookmark and subscription tables up to the top above the community message boards.
Would also be nice to have sorting option on the bookmark and subscription tables, ie. type, number of new messages, ect.
All in all, I like the new boards. More compact.

When I first saw the layout, I thought something was wrong so I refreshed. When it cam back I looked at it and liked how it looks, and the way the layout is.
It has a nice layout, but wouldn't mind a little customization(if it is possible with the software) to maybe lay it out in a way that the boards I frequent the most are up on top.
But still nice. I like the change.

I would also like to be able to sort alphabetically. Putting the boards in order of last posted doesn't help me when I'm trying to find a specific profession or server. It's unintuitive. I don't want to have to float every board that I occasionally read.

Hi, I'd like to be able to change the order in which information on the portal is displayed. Specifically, I would like my bookmarked threads, messages and boards to be at the top of my page. I couldn't figure out a way to do that through the preferences screen....

GarVa, can we just have an option to turn it back to the original?
Unfortunately at this time its not an option, Its going to be the new or old way we will make a permanent decision after the weekend (unless lithium lets me know about some secret way to give you the option then we will turn it on and there will be no worries!).
Many of the suggestions above (about removing top boards, etc. ) are great and we will forward them to see if its possible to do once we decide if we are going to stay with the new system. Thanks for your feedback so far and we are reading it all ![]()

In "verbose" when you click on galaxies or on professions, you have 2 pages of results. There should be a way to display (in verbose) all professions or all galaxies (in alphabetical order).

Do you see a rate this post when you view the forums? It should be off as of about 20 minutes ago

I like it a lot!
It would be really cool if some of those features also found their way onto the lower-level pages too.
BTW, I am proud to say that just before the star ratings were disabled this morning, I experienced my first (and probably one of SWG's last) one-star stalker...who was busy going through all my posts for the last day or so when the rating system was abruptly turned off! It would have been interesting to see how much farther he/she would have gotten if there was more time...

Love the new forums structure... or portal, whatever you want to call it.
