That a good idea. Its enough of a benefit to make the googles worth wearing and yet not so big that its is unbalancing. Even if they are just +1, that would be help and it doesn't seem like too involved of a code change, although I might be wrong on that.

I bought the Collectors Edition for my alt and noticed all those ugly goggles.Perhaps we would see many more people wearing theirs if they had an additional attribute, like +3 Defense v. Blind. Just wondering how much work that would take to implement, and if it is a possibility. We might just end up seeing a bunch of those things start popping back into the game.

I don't think the goggles should ever have any stats on them. Giving a small portion of the playerbase an advantage over others is never a good thing. People should not be punished for not buying the collectors edition. As it is the goggles are just a nice decoration (even though I never wear mine anymore) and it should stay that way.
I wouldn't mind them adding in some new decorative eyewear for special edition users though.

Very true. Did not even think about them being taken off when a helmet is applied. Oh well, maybe a +5 Picking Up Twi'lek Entertainers then or something.

That would be unfair for the users who can not afford or do not have available the collectors edition.
On both occasions when i've gone to purchase the game (day after launch, and about 4 months or so ago) the collectors edition was out of stock, with no date on when it would be in stock (tried 5 stores).
It's a good idea, but could/would be construed as descrimination against the player base.

I know... I never was able to find a collectors edition, so I ordered mine directly from LucasArts. Quite the hassle, with shipping and all, but I was able to get it that way, none the less.
As far as unfair things go, every profession, race, or faction claims unfairnesses, one way or another. An additional 10 bucks or so for the Collectors Edition plus shipping. What harm would a small bonus be? After all, I could make enough creds in the game to buy the same enhancement other ways in a very, veryshort time. Perhaps just being able to put attachments in it. Maybe 2 sockets, or 1. I don't care, really. It was just a thought.

Hehe, I remember the first day this game launched when everyone who bought that special edition decided to show off their googles. I still see a bunch of the special edition boxes at stores and, given the fact that I rarely see googles in game anymore, so I assume that most of the people who bought the Special Edition bought it before launch, before anyone could realize would a rip off it was. Really, can anyone tell me what makes this version worth the extra thirty bucks (or more, now that they lowered the price of the regular edition)?

Well, the way it used to be is this. The Collectors edition, besides having the little die cast female (Ooooo) and the Lapel Pin and patch(Aaaaaaa) and the Concept to Production book (Actually really cool), it came with an additional 30 days free (60 all together). Which would explain the high extra cost. As it is now, the regular version is 29.95 and the Collectors Edition is 39.95. I just got it for the book, myself. I did not even know about the goggles. Really, for 10 bucks more, I think the book is worth it. It gives a lot of background and some very good concept art. Sure, I could search the web for concept art, but I still like books.
So, maybe not a bonus or a socket ortwo for the goggles. How about a free Twi'lek slave then?
You know, it could replace the default R2 Helper unit. Bet I would not be destroying that datapad entry.

Excellent idea! I'd prefer a human, but a Twi'lek slave would be just fine. On a tangentally related note, check out these real life starwarsslave girls.

My human character on Kauri wears them all the time. I wear a flight suit that most people dont even know exist and they look great on him.
