The star system was being used as a form of bullying by some players, I think it will serve the community much better that it is removed.

Hip hip hooray !!!

This was what turned me away from the forum in october. And if it wasn't for some recent trading activities, I'd still be out.
There is just no way to post something usefull (i.e. criticising) in either the Jedi/BH forum without being flamed/trolled that way.

Take a look at page 2 of my "find all my posting" page, and you know what I mean. Categorically *-starring for obviously no reasons except the "fun" of doing so.

Since I have been harassed with this myself, and almost stopped to post in the process (link), this feels like a welcome back to the forum.

Besides that, I also have an annoying sig that looks like part of the post.

Okay, the star system would be best gone.

Second, I use the Droids Rebuilt forum skin (the one with the red background), and ever since you guys performed forum maintenance a month or two ago, the first post in any thread is red, but the subsequent posts are that REALLY dark blue.

I have to shout this out to you devs: I abhore the color black (dark blue). Can we at least see SOME color???? I miss being able to have the maroon/red background color. Idon't likelooking at blackness. It is depressing. Perhaps you can get your people to bring back the red background color, but if you ask me I'd rather see that time spent developing the combat upgrade, as this game's future depends so much on it.

I'm sure you got an earful reading this whiny post of mine, but, hey, it's feedback ya know!

Don't listen to the one star bandits in this thread...

Good idea to turn the star rating off.

So, long Star, you won't be missed.

A month ago, I had a 4 star rating. One enemy later it was at 2.6 THAT DAY, and even 2 correspondents asked me what the heck.

So thanks for rewarding my griever even more, as his work is now going to be permanently included in my account.

The only solution to abate this achievement is to remove having icons/titles based upon a popularity contest.

I think its about time it goes away. Often times people will one star someone else just in spite. I really think the star system was flawed for the Forum Ranks. The Star System would be worth it if people used it properly, but considering most do not, I'm glad to see it go.

Perhaps instead of stars we can have a "Helpful" or "Not Helpful" that way we can still rank the post, but it will not hurt your actuall forum rank. There are a lot of good posts out there, and more people look at the stars before they even open it (like myself). I definantly think we need a rank system, but you get the idea.

I actually like the star-rating system, and if you're wondering what my average outgoing rating is, it's 5,702 ratings @ 3.6 average, so I do rate positively more so than negatively. = P

I would say that instead of removing the system outright, the penalties for excessively rating one person over and over in a relatively short time period should be greater...

Better getting rid of it than keeping it the way it is.

Could be changed though, this way....

1. No post over two weeks old can get starred. This prevents anyone from changing someone's rating by selecting their "See all posts from the user".

2. No one can post a rating more than 3 times in a 24 hour period.

This would solve 99% of the problems and abuses, while still allowing for instant feedback from the community about ideas and comments.

I second that. It was the same for me, although not as gross as for him/her. Just enough to get me below 3.0 and loose a "privilege".

Are you going to reveal the names of the trolls that did it ? Or are they going to get away with it as usual in the justice system ? It sure would result in a hell of a lot city/vendor bans ingame....

P.S.: Ah, you have missed an opportunity. So many possible puns for the topic of this thread. The One Death Star, The One Star Death, The Death One Star,....
