Thread: Character Transfer to All Access subscription concerns

Hey Tiggs - have you had any response to my issue yet?

It has been 5 days since I emailed swgsupport regarding this and still no reply - not even an automated confirmation they received the email and I assume from the lack of PM's you havent had feedback either.

Any further help you could offer to chase this would be much appreciated.

In summary (if you dont want to read the full thread) I need my two SWG collectors edition accounts moved to my two EQ/EQ2 All Access accounts. The option to name SWG accounts the same as EQ ones did not exist at game launch or the option to add SWG to All Access. I have supported SOE by continuing to play EQ since launch and buy expansions and to play EQ2 in addition to SWG and can no longer afford to pay for SWG accounts when I should be getting them as part of my All Access. Before I proceed in buying 1 x JTL and 2 x ROTW I would like the account key codes transferred to my All Access accounts with all characters, items, names and quests intact.

Thanks again.

Mil

i do so hope they help you out ... here are a few notes for you tho

1. so far the response from the dev's or csr's to this thread has been typical since feb ...

2. if you purchase rotw it comes with jtl ... if you purchase the total experience it comes with it all.

After no response to my email or forum post I decided to call customer service directly and try to get a response.

Basically I was told that transferring account keys over to All Access is still not possible and unlikely to be in the near future and that my only option is to have my accounts banned and new account keys reissued to be used to add SWG to my current All Access subscriptions. So I lose all my characters, my character names, quest status, my FS status, my account length of service (for future vet rewards) etc etc etc.

I amstunned to be honest and really upset that I am going to have to give this game up. The way I feel right now I want to quit SOE altogether which means cancelling my two All Access acounts and giving up EQ and EQ2 as well. Priorities really are focused on selling more software packs and bringing new customers in to the game and not one concern is given to the long term loyal veteran players.

I suppose I will be expressing my opion through my wallet and cancelling my accounts.

Good luck to you all and enjoy your gaming.

Mil, please relax for a few days. These folks are working on lots of things right now and your issue (while it is being looked into) isn't critical for them. You might not get a response for a couple of weeks.

Here's why: say Tiggs takes the meeting to the next weekly issues meeting - that could take another 7 days if the previous weekly was earlier that day, but let's assume it's just a couple of days away. At that meeting everybody looks around and agrees that it sure would be nice to help you out, but there isn't an automated way of doing it - somebody will have to do it by hand (modify databases, etc.) Tiggs will proably let the team know that you aren't the only person having this problem (based on the forum responses), and that will make them less willing to do it by hand - if its just one person sure, but if its 10 or 20, wow that's a lot of manual labor (and it's tedious and easy to mess up.) So the team decides to take it offline assigning an owner (Tiggs + a developer probably) and they move on to other topics. The dev and Tiggs agree to get together a couple of days later (everybody has meetings on their calendar and T-ball games to get to probably) when they are both free. When they talk, the two come up with a solution but its a little risky and the dev would like to investigate it a bit more, then they need to run it by the boss. They also still aren't clear what the policy is going to be going forward - officially allow these type changes, or not. So after the dev looks into it, they will then be a meeting with the boss (delayed a couple more days due to schedulign conflicts) and that person will make a final decision.

ThenTiggs will get back to you - that could easily take a couple of weeks. So just relax and let them talk it through.

Oh, and going through swgsupport or CSR isn't going to make a difference. In this case, the support side of the company will just parrot back the current official policy (what they've told you) and won't take it any further. Don't be concerned about this - you've escalated the issue into the one place(through Tiggs) that it could see any action besides that.

Of course, they might still decide against changing the current policy - I hope for your sake and others that they don't, but they might.

i would agree to the waiting part .. but i have been waiting since feb for some sort of resolution ...

i even opted to have them ban one of my accounts and re issue the keys and i would just start over (since the newb part of the game is most of the fun) just to have them tell me that they can no longer do that either .. and i would just have to wait for news...

i contacted lucasarts, soe ... heh just about every number you could call or email address you could send something to i did ...

Had the same issue with my wife's account, and spoke to a CSR representative about it while working on another problem. The rep told me that a solution is in the works, and thatmy wifewould recieve an Email when the service to add an SWG account of a different login name to an existing All Access Account was available.

This was back in March, and still no Email.

Sure would be nice to save $15 a month and keepher characters.

Myaccount had no issues whatsoever. I started out with EQ, and went All Access when I added Planetside, later adding EQ2. I used the same information when I started SWG at release, even though it wouldn't go on All Access, and found out the hard way that changing the password for EQ changes them all. When SWG was added to All Access, they were automatically combined and I was compensated for the rest of the month I had already paid for SWG separately.

Have been giving serious thought into buying her a brand new copy of SWG, then using Character Transfer to move her character across accounts while my character holds all her stuff. I really don't think this should be the only way to solve this problem, though.

All you need is a character transfer service with items, which can't be that hard to do, move them all to one account then delete the other account.

The details I suppose are nitpicky things like how much you charge for it etc...(currently 30 bucks but that also deletes all your items I think... does the character transfer from one account to another actually delete items if you stay on the same server?). I just wouldn't charge for it in this sort of case. Not that you should be charging anything for an itemless transfer in the first place (when you can't move jedi), its not like non jedi characters are worth anything really anyway, its the items that matter. Everything else can be regrinded in a few hours with enough cash, which is x-server traded constantly whether that is intended or nto.

If you really want to handle it on a case by case basis you create a character on the preferred accoutn name (new char name... append an x in good old soe style), use a CSR character builder/blue frog type thing to level up to identical skills, and manually move all items over. There isn't a lot in game that isn't tradeable so that shouldn't be hard, a nuissance to be sure, but not all that hard, delete the old character, rename the new one by removing the x.

There doesn't seem to be much benefit in trying to maintain a database around around say credit card numbers rather than account names, so move it all to one account name. That or entirely rebuild your database around some new unique ID information.

Any other system is complicated and likely to cause problem ah la world of warcrafts billing people 13 times in the first month and such.

I agree as is this is pointless feature you are better off selling all your stuff then transfer the credits to another server.

What about those that just wanted to consolidate under the all access pass but not transfer any charactor to any other server? All I wanted was my billing to reflect the all access pass, had no desire what so ever to move anything. I don't think it would be that hard to quit billing 2 seperate accounts and bill one charge to your card every month for the all access pass. But now i have 2 SWG accounts and 1 EQ account and 1 EQ II account, so things are all screwed up now.

That nice and all but it still doesn't change the fact that your most loyal customers who have been with SWG the longest are being OVERCHARGED, simply because we created our multiple accounts along time before station access was made availible. So In my case i'm paying $45 a month for a service thatreally only cost $30. That's like picking up a 6 pack at the grocery priced at $8.49 and being charged $12 at the check out counter, yeah right. Time to go dig through my credit card statements because you people owe me money or credit to my account for the months that you've been OVERCHARGING for your service.

Jucat you are wrong, when you signed up during release for EQ, EQ2 SWG any of them you get the option to add to your current station name! As long as it is not the same game. I read it when I signed up. Why didn't you?
