How is it such a huge deal for SWG to do it, when other MMORPG's allow it? Wouldn't they all run into the same problems that have been described here? I'd like to change my name simply because I created it a long time ago. When I first started playing, I didn't know what to expect or how things would play out. I'm of the belief that a one time name change for each account would be wonderful. I think people with a regular toon and also a Jedi should be allowed to rename both of their characters. And I know I'd certainly be willing to pay SOE to allow this name change.

So it seems the issue is more serious than I first thought.

I guess the devs are aware of it, but I hope the priority on this issue is high enougth so we may see it implemented someday and before looong time.

Tiggs, if you are reading could you give us an input on this subject plz?

With the name change we would see implemented a speice and sexchange too, it would be nice to tweak this with ID / Doctor for speice andsex and maybe Smuggler for name.

The best would be :

• then let the master Smuggler erase all data on the old char and create a new life (aka name) for it.

Pretty much out of the question (this has been answered many times already)

All property in the game is flagged to your user name (of if you crafted itand someone else owns it -it still has your name attached)and this is used for logging for exploits so they will not change it unlessit violates community standards and Lucasarts does not like the idea of race and sex changes in the game.

Im not asking for a name change Im asking for a 1TIME NAME SWAP(swaping name of main with the unlocked 2nd character when i get it). So everything Cron(main character) owns would then belong to Cron( 2nd character after name swap) and my jedi would be unknown to everyone and free to become a jedi in peace.

If a CSR or DEV forces a name change becasue of bad name or something does the character lose all his items he owns? NO i dont think so.

I dont support name changing but i do think we should atleast be allowed a 1 time name swap with unlocked 2nd character. I dont feel that is asking for much.

Actually they do.... if it is not in their personal inventory. You can lose admin rights to all structures you own (and in some cases even your bank)

Oh I would agree - but if they make 1 exception they would have to open it up to all and they really don't want to do that so it is unlikely to happen.

knowledge base has good info on forced name change and how i would be locked out of structurus and bank but that is because they now have a NEW name that does not exist in game yet.

Tell me how i would be locked out of structures if Cron (main character) and Thor (hypethetical 2nd character) swap names. Both names will be on the admin list of the house allready and i can allways empty the bank.

Once the name has been used and then discarded (to be used for a different or new character) it goes into their black box and it may come out immediately (sometimes) or it may never come out (sometimes).

This is particulary evident when you create delete and then create a new character. The previous old name is rarely if ever available.

I do realize you want to swap them but they will not allow it due to the above reason. If they allow it for one exception they would have to figure out a way to allow it for all exceptions.
