Thread: Character name change/swap? trading main character name with unlocked 2nd character

This is information from a conversation we've been having:
"And there is one more point why the devs will most probably never allow for a name change: There is basically only a limited number of character names, that actually look/sound like names. If players start changing their names the number of "free" names would shrink drastically leaving not much room for newcomers. And you have to lock down previously used names of renamed folks to lower potential issues and griefings.
As i said: for the devs the issues and potential problems with such an option/ability most likely outweights the gain for the comunity by far. Yes, the Customer Support folks CAN change names of players (since they need to handle bad/inproper names), but that's allways a difficult thing for them and as far as I know they really hate to do it because of all the problems that usually arise."
The biggest reason why SOE does not want to allow name changes is the griefing. Unforunately, there are Bad People playing this game. If someone is a known griefer, exploiter, cheat or big jerk, by having name changes easily accessable, these folks could terrorize the players and get away with it everytime they wanted to change their name.
Im not asking for an ability for the ID's to do im asking for a 1 time name swap with the 2nd character slot you get with becoming jedi.
I would even be willing to pay SOE for this. Kinda like a character trasnfer except not transfering character only the names.

Hello,how do you know this ?Please tell me cause I've been feeding 2 very polite tickets and I whent to a dead end
I know this from many sources. First, people who I know who have gotten "married" in game and had their names change. Or people who created offensive toon names and want to change them before they got banned.
Not only, that I *asked* the devs during the Fan Fest forums because it is one of the number one things people ask and Image Designer for. People keep asking us to do them and we don't want the responsibility.

I've been a master Id for some time too and I do understand your concern.
Well, seems there is no hope for people in my case, actually I'm not even sure I want to unlock as I don't want FS on this char.
When I look at my actual main char I feel cheated a bit as I grinded all FS trees not being able to open on the new char.
I felt cheated too when SOE introduced the new speices and we (veteran) wheren't able to switch their main char to them.

Only thing i can figure is this is one of SOE's way of Jedi control. People like you and me that dont want our main character to be jedi.
I had also planed to unlock the 2nd character and then grind till it was jedi then surendering jedi on my main but it seems that is not even a option.SOE suredid F#$% alot of people when they went to the new unlock system. cant change race or nameand must destroy your main character
