Thread: Character Transfer to All Access subscription concerns

Hey guys,

Perhaps some of you have been through my issue previously and can give advice on what to do as I am pulling my hair out trying to decide.

I have supported SOE games for well over 6 years now from the initial launch of EQ, SWG and EQ2 and even Planetside for a while. Back when SWG launched there wasnt that much information available of the All Access Station Pass and it was made very clear that SWG would not be part of this pass given its association with LucasArts. As such when I purchased my two collectors edition SWG accounts I chose different account names to my EQ accounts mainly for that added security on accounts/passwords and in ignorance that at some future date I would learn about All Access and that SWG would be added and that you needed the same account names to consolidate these games on to a single subscription.

Changes in RL last year forced me to suspend my much beloved SWG accounts to reduce monthly outgoings at a time when I had managed to consolidate my EQ and EQ2 accounts onto an All Access subscription (also did this for my wife's accounts too). I was told at the time that because my SWG accounts had different names then my only option would be have these old collectors edition accounts banned, have reissued software keys and then pay to have characters transferred to the new accounts - however I would lose all items, quest status and even have to change the character names. Needless to say I wasnt happy with this so suspended both accounts.

The recent changes to the game, the new expansions, and the fact a few friends have returned to SWG has made me relook at this problem but has policy really changed over the last several months or have SOE decided to be a little fairer and flexible with its customers? My two collectors edition accounts only have a single JTL expansion enabled on one of them but I am interested in getting both new expansions enabled on both accounts.

The problem I face is this.....I want to keep my collectors edition status, my account date for veteran rewards and future rewards and my two characters with full quest status and FS unlocks BUT cannot afford to pay SWG subscriptions on top of my All Access subscriptions which I am currently paying which should entitle me to play SWG at no extra cost. SOE still dont seem to be able to simply change the account name to enable addition to customers All Access subscriptions and I really dont understand why this is such a problem. I would even be prepared to pay a nominal fee like $30 per account to have this done as it would save me money in the long term and mean I could continue playing SWG and most likely purchase all current and future expansions from SOE.

The alternative is letting them ban my accounts, give me new account keys, pay $30 per character transfer (if they allow my FS unlocked character to move), buy all the expansions, lose my quest status/rewards, lose my account start date for veteran rewards, lose my character names etc etc.

Everytime I think about my options it just winds me and I get annoyed that SOE dont offer any flexible service to its existing customer base. I like SWG. I want to play SWG and buy all the nice expansions but as a casual player I do not want to spend months and months repeating all that xp grind and questing. One of my characters is a Master Artisan/Master Armorsmith/Master Merchant and the other is Master Marksman/Master Rifleman/Pistoleer4444 and has 4 FS branches complete.

Any ideas? Tiggs can you suggest a way around this problem?

p.s. before anyone notices I only recently activated forum access using this account - used to post with my other hehe hence its only a week old or something hehe.

I agree, more flexibility should be allowed. I am also wandering whether I can transfer a character to server where I already have one (well... two...)?

This is something the Transfer FAQ addresses...the answer is no.

transferring chars to a server that i already have one isnt a problem ...

the problem is ...

when swg came out .. most of us could not use our exsisting station name to sign up for it so had to make a second one ... now that they added it to the all access package .. we cant' get the two combined into one ...

Hey Devil I think you are right - I might actually have tried to create my SWG accounts with the same name as my EQ ones but it may not have let me - my memory is a little faded on this though. Certainly when I spent all that $'s on collectors edition packages there was almost zero information about All Access and SWG was always going to be separate from other SOE games.

Tiggs - thanks for the response - lets hope they can help me as it makes no sense to be paying for 2 * SWG subscriptions when I am paying for 2 * All Access subscriptions and I certainly cant afford to do both!

cheers

i know when i tried to create mine it told me the name was already in use so i just had to do another one ... but at that time it was when they said swg was not going to be part of the all access so i didn't worry ... now tho it is ... and the people that ran into this problem are at a brick wall ...

they did ban some accts and re issue keys for people but now if you request that to be done ... they will tell you that they can no longer do that .. and ask for your info ... so they can notify you when a resolution is reached .. this is what i was told way back in feb ... and am still getting the same responses now ...
