Thread: The Force Sensitive Commando

Just wanted to take a moment and share some of what we have to look forward to with the Jedi Revamp.

It is my understanding that the new Jedi Unlock process will involve running a series of missions (confirmation not available yet but called the "Jedi Trials")...Once you unlock your Jedi potential, no longer will you have to start a new character, but your current character will move in the direction of being a Jedi. This progression will first start with being Force Sensitive (and that's where it can end if you want to be ONLY a Jedi)...

The first Force Sensitive tree I looked at was based on our lack of Defenses as Commandos...To become a "Enhanced Reflexes Novice" it costs "0" skill points...yes ZERO...but you don't get anything for that Novice, you just unlock the various trees...

Just like every thing else in game, "Enhanced Reflexes" is divided up into 4 trees...Ranged Defense, Melee Defense, Vehicle Control and Survival...Each box of each tree costs exactly 1 skill point (no increase as you go up)...Each tree of Melee Defense gives you +5 Melee Defense and it's the same for the Ranged Defense tree. I'm still not sure on the benefit of the Vehicle Control tree (+5 Force Vehicular Control in each box). Survival gives you Camping, Foraging, Trapping, Mask Scent, Terrain Negation, Creature Harvesting and Creature Knowledge as you go up (only a total of +5 each)...

Then there is "Combat Prowess"...This is still under discussion on it's exact effect/benefit to the Combat professional, but manybelieve it has a multiplication bonusfactor on the players current skills in some way.The tree's are divided up between Ranged Accuracy, Ranged Speed, Melee Accuracy and Melee Speed. Each of the 16 trees give +3 to various attributes like "Enhanced Ranged Accuracy", "Enhanced Ranged Speed", "Enhanced Melee Accuracy" and "Enhanced Melee Speed".

There are 2 other Force Sensitve paths...Crafting Mastery and Heightened Senses...Obviously Crafting Mastery doesn't specifically target Combat Profession directly...Heightended Senses also don't effect the Commando directly as it seems to effect Healing and Survey most directly...Beyond that, Heightened Senses has 2 mysterious trees called "Persuasion (maybe a future smuggler ehnacement)" and "Jedi Luck (rumored to help with random loots)"...these 2 are under much debate as to what their effect in game will be...and the official dev response I've received is "Well, you'll just have to wait and see..."

Over all, the best Commando related Force Sensitive skills are obviously "Ranged Defense", "Melee Defense", "Ranged Accuracy" and "Ranged Speed"...You can get all of these for a total of 16 skill points...I left "Melee Accuracy" and "Melee Speed" because they are only useful to those Commandos who currently take a Melee Profession as their secondary skill (so that's your call)...but who knows, maybe we'll have a few melee specials in our trees, so that does have it's potential...

Speculation is that it takes 24 boxes of Force Sensitive boxes to proceed to Jedi Initiate...from there you go to Padawan and so on...Eventually, if you want to continue the Jedi Path you will have to invest ALL of your skill points into Jedi skills, so that is where the Jedi sacrifice comes in...you'll have to at that point give up your previous life...

The biggest thing that I don't know yet is where do you get the Jedi XP to progress up the Force Sensitive boxes (goes 1000xp, 5000xp, 10000xp to 15000xp)...My guess is that it will be mission related or specific kill related like faction xp is now...and while those numbers may seem low, XP grants will probably similar to Combat XP...

Before testing things out on TC2, I never had any interest in being a Jedi...I only knew I wanted to be a Commando...after this all goes live, I have a new goal...I will be a Force Sensitive Commando...Will you join me there?

Much of this info was gained on TC2 and from http://swgexplorer.dras.us/tc9/menu.htm... As I gain more info I will add more here...I hope this helps...

I'm keeping my TKM...I'll just use the 18 skill points I have invested in Medic to get the Force Sensitive abilities I need...

I had pretty musch the same thought process when picking my force sensitive trees. 24 is the number of boxes you need to unlock your slot, which is pretty much set in stone since jedi need keep these skills (and 24 skill points) even at the knight level. My guess is that you will get the experience by completing the trials (quests) as some sort of completion reward. After testing jedi, I would rather be a fs commando with aspeed slicedkrayt ft than a jedi. Especially when you consider that after going through the insane knight grind you will only be 20-30% better than an elite profession (based off what the devs said at fanfest, see the jedi board for more info). Plus itsmore fun to burn things with my ft then to swing a glowy stick ad nauseum.

i dislike this new system.. seriously, and what about force sensitive bounty hunters? can they hunt themselves or something like, use the force... grab their own mission, and no one else can get them?

By the time that a Bounty Hunter reaches a level that they can be a Jedi they HAVE TO give up all pre-skills (point wise)...that means you can't have a Jedi BH...you can only have a Force Sensitive BH...and Force Sensitive does not equal being a Jedi, so no Force Sensitive will show up on a Bounty Hunter Terminal...

Garvin, thats incorrect, as you progress up the jedi tree you have to shedyour existing skills for jedi skills. However, you don't gain visibility untill you start using force powers (after you complete the jedi trials to unlock and pick a novice skill box). FYI, it takes 32 skill pts by the time you hit your first novice box (24 for fss skills +8 for a novice box.

Not me. I have no wish to be force sensitive, even with these new additions. Force Luck sounds like a very bad idea IMO.

Doesn't see the point of a bile-venting "I'm leaving" thread.

A Master BH leaves 33 pts remaining...90 left at Novice BH...

According to the Jedi Archive Vol II:

Padawan and Knight Trials
Once a player has purchased at least 24 or more skill boxes of Force Sensitivity Skills they may undergo the Padawan Trials. Completion of the Jedi Padawan Trials signifies the start of a character's Jedi advancement. Once completed, the player will receive their Jedi robe and begin their Jedi advancement. At this point the player's Jedi character will be able to use actual Force skills and this will cause the Jedi to generate visibility on the Bounty Hunter terminals. Skills learned at this point will give a character more and more Force related powers. As they advance through the different Force Discipline skills, Jedi will have to revoke their standard skills. This is where a player must start making important character development decisions; in order to have a character that is a dedicated to the Jedi Way, they will only be able to be a Jedi. A young Padawan should be able to stand on his or her own feet using skills from their previous profession in conjunction with their Force skill boxes, but remember you will still be generating visibility!

So by that a person can not not advance as a Jedi Padawan AND be a Master BH...it's possible to be a BH and a Jedi Padawan in the begining...and it isn't (according to the above) until that player is a Padawan that they will start appearing on the BH Terminals...But obviously as they progress they will lose much of the BH profession quickly...

By the time some reaches Jedi Knight they will not be a BH anymore (that's what I meant)...

So apparently it would be possible for a BH to see themselves on a BH Terminal, but my guess is that the Devs have thought about this...Just one question though...how would a BH kill themselves? Can you duel yourself? Sure Commandos have Suicide grenades, but we don't get XP for killing ourselves...My guess is that the Devs will make sure that either, a BH will not see themselves on a Mission Terminal or they won't be able to take the mission...And if this is the case, I think someone would be silly to keep any BH skills while trying to progress up the Jedi Trees...They will need Defenses to keep themselves alive while they take on the slow Jedi Grind...Most folks would agree that the best Pre-Jedi Knight Templates are currently Fencer/TKA/Jedi Padawan because of the defenses...or remove some of the Fencer and add in some Ranged ability...if a Jedi Padawan keeps some or all of BH, they'll come up lacking when other's hunt them...

I'll ask about it when the Devs get back into town, but I'm pretty confident that extreme of an exploit won't come into play when the Jedi Revamp goes live...
