Thread: Best grenades?

I have simple question for you master commandos.
Are proton grenades really the best greandes to use? They should be good since they require master but I hear they are slow and that speed skill modifier is broken.
I think right now there is a market for this and I have almost all the ressources to make the best proton or thermal grenades. I dont want to be waisting anything. Right now on Lowca they are good c12 (2.6207-898),but noneof theother types.
So whats the best grenade ?

Protons and Thermals are the two best grenades.
They both have different damage types, so one isn't really better than the other (imo).
Make sure you experiment Range a bit. Get the ideal up to aboout 18-20m.

There's a thing....
I've had a couple Master Commandos *specifically* ask me for Imp Detonators.
Now, Thermals are *clearly* superior grenades (better AP = more damage).
Why would you prefer Imperial Detonators over Thermal detonators?

imp detontors do blast damage instead of heat thats why i use them.

if im not mistaken imp detonators are ap1 aswel as regualr c22 nades r ap0 and blast damage plus the whole thermals r heat... i just use my flame thrower for heat damage

Guys.....
Thermal Detonators do Blast Damage at AP2.
Go check them.

yes but they r heat... i use flame thrower for heat try usin a thermal on a nitesister = dont work
why i persoanlly liek to stock up on imp dets ....
there is no rite or wrong only personal choice

Dude...
Thermal Detonators do Blast damge. The *same* as Imperial Detonators. But with more AP. And thus, more damage.
If your Thermals are *not* hurting a NS with less than 100% Blast Resist, but your Imperial Detonators are, then you have found a bug, and need to:
/bug it
Tell your fellow Commandos about it.
If you like, I can post a Screenshot of a Thermal Detonator to show the damage-type. Yes, they *really* do Blast damage.

Note that if the creatures/NPC you attack are vulnerable/no armor to blast then you will get no AP > AR bonus. That make Imp detonators better since they have a higher base damage.
The only AP0 grenade is the Glop BTW (and is Acid damage)

That is true.
NS Protectors, however, are immune to everything bar Blast and Kinetic (15%), and vuln to LS (of course).
Bar the one case of no Blast resist, the Thermal is a better grenade. *shrug*

using grenades to take down NS is insane imo....
if it's for XP grinding nothing beats using proton at reb/imp base npc's, these have ar1 tops, and the big blast radius of the protons is actually an advantage here

Grenades sell because of the grind I guess. So I dont think the type of damage is that important.
Whats the damage/speed range then for imp,thermal and protons ?
Cause thermal need some thoranium steel, and the one I have isnt really good. But I'd be willing to buy it since I need less of other good ressources to build them then protons. Imp detonators require almost only steel, wich is a good thing.
Using grenades seems really tricky but fun.
