Thread: No terrain negotiation = No chance?
My Master Commando characterisdown to only having Exploration 3 and I'm wanting to give up Scout completelyto pick up someother skills. To thoseCommandoswho have given up Scout, is it playable? Doesnot having terrain negotiationdrive you nuts?
I keep having "Frankenstein" flashbacks of trucking up the sides of mountains as a newbie on Talus.
Vehicles have drastically improved travel, but what about PvP? When someone istoo close for Heavy Weapons, it seems like its going to be hard toget theminto my 16m danger zone without having any terrain negoation. I do have a ranged knockdown andCovering Fire might help a bit against kiting I guess.
If you have given up Scout, please post your thoughts.
Since scout its a skill easy to get, and really fast get exploration 1, i given up yesterday to move deeper into tka, for the moment to do mssions i dont miss it since my speeder its lot faster than walk. Only had pains when mission was on a hill, and npc run out, but well i dont have kd yet, just dizzy +posture change sometime it works like kd
Not sure about pvp, but on city usually no mountains and you will usually pvp there. My opinion its try it, really fast get scout again if you dont like it.
HTH.
Gave up all my scout skills with the addition of mounts to the game...and to be honest, I haven't missed it one bit...now with vehicles it's even better...
Trust me...you don't need Scouting UNLESS you want to harvest...otherwise it's a complete waste of skill pts...
The only time it sucks is when you are out in the middle of no where and the game crashes...then when you reload you are without your mount of vehicle and have to walk to a nearby town to recall them...but that hasn't happened often to me...

/agree
I gave up all my scout to master commando. All i miss is selling yavin avian for 60cpu.
As soon as the "disappearing vehicles"thing is resolved there will be no probs. (got stuck 4000m in the mountains of tatooine, had to call for help, lol)
Movi

Master Commando / Master Pistoleer / Medic
Anyway, you shouldn't be fighting on mountains too often.

I'm thinking that if I'm too far out, I'll just throw down a small house and declare residency long enough to call vehicle. Lose some credits redeeding, but worth it. Declaring residency used to take some time I think, but last time I delared it I think it was instantaneous. They really need to fix disappearing vehicles/pets/etc.
What's going to be a pain is having todo this every time I log back on if I'm not near a municipal zone.
That is the exact reason I think we need, at least, a way to build a "temporary shelter" form of a camp...It seems to me Commandos should have some sort of survival instinct...and if we could build a temporary shelter we could use it to call pet's, droids and vehicles...
My proposal is different from a regular camp in that it would not protect us and it would not be able to be used to heal wounds...Only can be used to make calls...that way if a game error stores our pets and leaves us stranded, we can make one of these "temporary shelters" and recall them...
Seems like a logical and not so difficult request...Add it to the field tactics tree...and it's the type of programming programmers love...just copy, paste, make some "1"s in the database "0"s when it comes to healing...

In the description of one of the boxes in Field Tactics (don't know if they changed the text) pretty much stated that we're supposed to get some terrain negotiation in that tree. I think it'll be given to us eventually. I'd love to see it in the class balancing patch, but we'll see how that goes.
Exactly, I don't understand why combat medic gets 50 in terrain negotiation and the commando nothing.
Learn to run uphills zig-zag style..... drop scout.
Use a mount as much as possible.
Thanks for all the info.
Think I'm going to bite the bullet and try it w/o Scout when I get home tonight.
