Thread: No terrain negotiation = No chance?
Yeah, I'm at the point where with my next Commando box, I'll need to drop Novice Scout. Like Garvin said, with mounts and vehicles, I have only been inconvenienced once, and it was again, in the same " 4000m from anywhere" situation.

Just a quick point about calling vehicles / mounts - you dont have to be a novice scout to use the basic camps. I have no idea without further research wether this is a bug, and whether you can use the more complex camps without scout, but I just buy basic camps by the crate, problem solved.
Huh?
I have no scout skills. Tried to use a Basic Camp and it said "you lack the skill..." totally sucked!

Im new to this game.
Im a commando so how do i give up scout when my commando relies on the skill ?
Well I've been playing w/o scout for a while now. Not terrible, but kind of a pain. The terrain negotiaion is the pisser. I'm hoping to find some skill tapes or something. (dare to dream)
And I cannot use Basic Camps at all. "You lack the skill to use this" or some such. Haven't been stranded yet, but its only a matter of time. My 'I'll just drop a house' idea is flawed since I somehow forgot that some planets are unbuildable.
Maybe they'll allow calling vehicles from anywhere someday, heh.
The only absolute requirements for Commando are Master Marksman and one tree of Brawler (Unarmed 1-4). Scout is nice, but not neccesary to be a Commando.

There is nothing in "scout" your commando really needs. There are only things you like to have ![]()
Now unarmed IV, now that you NEED.
Chasing kiters is not really an issue. The Particle Beam Cannon has an ideal range of around 34. The Rocket Launcher has an ideal range of around 64. While these tools are useless on AT-ST's and turrets, they work wonders on anyone closing or running away from you if fired in the right order. When they get hit by them they either want toburst run fromyour vicinity, or they may chance closing within your flamer range. I have yet to see anyone try to continue kiting me after getting smacked with a heavy weapon.
Actually, people rarely do much of anything after getting smacked with the Rocket Launcher.
On the flip side, using Rockets often makes me number one target during large scale PVP.
The point is, we have effective, albeit expensive, ranged weapons at our disposal. They are too pricy to use in PVE, but they are there when circumstances warrent it.
