Look for piket longhorns in the wild (they used to spawn from missions, but I dont think they do anymore). Attack the ones labeled piket longhorn first, since these aggro. Then attack the piket longhorn females, which do not aggro. Hope that helps

Get a decent set of ubese , around 60% or so. This lets me solo Picket Plainswalker missions even when they agro 3 at a time. Solid.

Thanks guys, just a few questions: (Haven't played in FOUR months )

1. Armor SUCKED when I quit, I mean, the FIRST set of somposite just came out when I quit. (Because Chilastra had no material) So 60% in what? Kinetic resists? And what does ADV armor have over other armor?

2. Are there any tips for fighting animals that will help me solo better?

Thanks

I grinded 2 trees of heavy weapon xp with pickets and picket plains walkers in a day and a half.

-Get a **edit** fine helm, they'll head butt the sh*t out of ya. (with you're full suit of 60% kenetic resist armor)

Usually they spawn in 3's. Walk up to one and flame single, then hit the next with flame single and the 3rd. Hit the nest once with flame single again and start the process over.

I got about 3k xp for each adult, with 7 adults and 2 babies for each nest, thats 21,000 xp on pickets and 3k more for killing off the nest. 24k xp total on one mission.

Remember, you're flame thrower isnt real good until flame 3&4, preferabbly 4. I suggest having a friend go with ya to get you to flame 4 then you can solo these with no problems at all.

o, and having nov medic helps too.

Find someone that can tank or that is a CH. Let pet/tank take the aggro, run up Cone Flame I, then Single Flame I/ or II. But wait until the all the critters have aggro'ed on the tank/pet. This works great...just experiment and take risks to find out what works best for your play style ;-)

Pikets suck. 65% heat resistance. They're vuln to acid, if you wanna try the HAR tho.

What I do is find a nice yellow picket longhorn and kneel right next to it. Flame Single the thing, get up, and switch over to my launcher. If it's all over me, I'll use a /warningshot to get some separation so I can wait for the flame DOT to kill or critically harm so I can finish it off.

If he BAF's, you're in trouble. If you're lucky you can get a /warningshot off on the aggressors and your primary target so you can get some separation and survive. The 15-second cooldown on /flamesingle seems like forever when you have three pickets bearing down on you. If you don't miss with the flamer and you can get your /warningshots off in time, you can survive beig aggroed by three at a time.

Armor with fantastic kinetic resists would help a lot. Especially a helm, as they will dizzy you and focus on your mind pool if it's the smallest.

Of course, pickets don't DB, so you can always just do a kamikaze run....

Here's another good tip. start off with the launcher pistol from 64m and healthshot1 one of them, then immediately peace. Switch to the flamer and wait for the bleed to tic. When the bleed hits it will only aggro the one. (just make sure you aren't near the rest of the herd) Hit your flamesingle hotkey when the critter gets to about 20m and you'll do fine. The trick is to just make sure you only fire off the healthshot with the launcher. Anything else and you'll be gettin cozy with all three. Good luck. I did it the easy way before the CH patch... Grand Wrix to tank was all I needed. Post patch adecent set of Ubese (50-60%)is well worth investing in.

Also remember you can Warning Shot animals that haven't aggrod yet, as long as they're standing up (check their icon in the top right.) Prone from range, you get about three tries before the creature will aggro.

So you can use this to break up herds. Animals only BAF within a certain distance from each other. Warning Shot the standing pikets until they're all standing far enough apart that you only have to fight one individually.

There's some risk, it's not guaranteed to work, but what fun is guaranteed success?

Also, if you do Warning Shot an attacking animal, don't send it back toward the herd! If necessary step "through" it first so that it runs the opposite way.
