Thread: Some Friendly Testing Advice for TH and other Devs...You'll quickly change your mind!
sorry about the double post...that's what happens when you accidently double click the submit button...lol...the full post is at:

But that's EXACTLY where the arguement on testing comes in...if 2 folks stand face to face and fire Flame Specials at each other OF COURSE the DoT looks too powerful...that successful leaves out all the restrictions our specials deal with...I could win every single battle if my opponent stands infront of me, within 16m, and allows me to flame special them...
BUT...if I never get within 20m of my opponent, how overpowered is the Flame DoT in a battle where it can't be used?
The fact that the Flame DoT incapps again right after someone finishes a incapp timer is a KNOWN BUG...the timer is suppose to start over once the player finishes their incapp timer...what is currently happening is that as soon as the person stands back up the immediately get hit with another Burn...if the timer worked properly a HUGE part of the arguement would be taken out (incapp griefing).
Our DoT is the way it is because of a couple points:
- The restrictions the DoT has placed on it...
- The fact that the Commando Profession costs so many skill points...
With all the Nerfing proposed, we still face the 2 above points...we still have the same restrictions and we still cost the same about of skill points...Balance is thrown way off...
If I stood face to face with BH, they could one shot kill me with the LLC...or with a TKA they could KD me over and over until death...Does that mean those 2 methods should be Nerf'd? Our FT is NOT to powerful...it's as powerful as it should be thanks to it's restrictions...if it had the same restrictions that that other DoTs do, I'd expect our DoT to be a lot less powerful then it is now...but it doesn't so it should stay the way it is...the Bugs resulting from it should just be fixed...

Commando's are designed for one on one PvP style combat mainly. The commando fills the role of the group support profession, the damage dealers. They fall into the same field as the rifleman who needs to be stationary to have decent accuracy and is again a support combat profession. The test they did was to see what the situation was with the burning DOT which I have been saying along with others has been overpowered for ages and in PvP allows for what is essentially a one hit kill and has griefing potential.
Just out curiousity, I looked up some numbers to compare to Rifleman. They're from Allakhazam.com. (Hope these are accurate)
Master Commando - 169 skill points
Flame Thrower Accuracy +80
Flame Thrower speed+45
Master Rifleman - 92 skill points
Rifle Accuracy +140
Rifle Accuracy while moving +10
Rifle Speed +100
This doesn't tell the whole story (I think the comparison gets worse for Commando as you go) but specific to your comment, it doesn't look similar at all.
As for the Flame DOT being overpowered, I'd just say that I agree with garvin's post. It's difficult to land against a PvP opponent at all. Against a smart PvP opponent, it's nearly impossible.

Those are not accurate...
Flamethrower accuracy at Master is 110, not 80.
Rifleman accuracy is also incorrect, but I'm not precisly sure what it is...think around 170...
We have less accuracy and speed because we have more power...we also have more power because we cost more pts then the other elite professions...now these proposed changes take our power away...so again I ask, what do we get in return?
/applaud Garvin

I mean, think about it, do you honestly believe that the devs don't know these things? Indeed, they do... they choose not to pay attention to them. Facts are facts, but once ignored they mean nothing.
I applaude your effort garvin. You attempt so steadfastidly to defend the commando profession, I feel a sense of sadness knowing the devs see not this effort.
