Thread: Why would we get nerfed?

There is no reason to nerf us, it takes longer for us to get towhere we are, more skill points, just like its hard for a BH too. We dont have the liberty of having a strong pet, strong medical or any other variety to help enhance our character other than our weapons. Other professions that are mixed with medical skills and what not might not do as much damage but they sure can last a lot longer in a battle than someone without good medical. And on a final note, the devs tested all the guns, they did internal testing, they wouldnt have patched it if they thought it was too strong. I think everything is fine the way it is.

Plus people need to start wearing armor and pay attention to what armor is good against certain things, too many people dont wear any or just wear what looks cool to them. If time was spend getting resists built up then other peoples weapons wouldnt seem as powerful.

I don't think PvE is much of a problem, the cool downs balance out the specials. The problem is that in PvP I think a lot of players wont be liking the damage we do. Even though it is almost melee range it's a lot of damage. There aren't enough melees in the game to counter the Commando right now so it's going to be a free for all before more players pick up melee skills or there's a good chance of a nerf.

/agree

Lets hope the devs agree too. There are A LOT of pistoleers out there, however, and they are very vocal when they don't get their way. For some reason they think they should be on the same level as the hybrid elite professions like BH and Commando. Pistoleers have a severe case of "short man syndrome". BH and Commando have the toughest pre-reqs and require the most Skill Points. BHs should bekings of the one-on-one and Commandos should be kings of the battlefield. Its only fair. Pistoleers/Carbineers/Riflemen should be used in support roles, they are single weapon specialists, not uber-combat bada$$es.

If a Commando owns me in battle and gives me 600+ wounds I'll think to myself, "wow, that sucks, but, he did the Commando grind he earned the right to do that to me." Heavy Weapons should hit harder than any weapon in the game and not just anyone should be able to use them. The devs got it right. BHs and Commandos put in the work, they should reap the reward.

What I like about SWG so much is that you arent bound to anything class-wise.

If people find that they want to be the most dmging class around, and that is thier playstyle, and now they think the commando is it, they CAN drop whater class they are and BE a commando! No one says you CANT!

Rather than having pistoleers whine and cry for nerf, why dont they just use some skill points, become the "more powerful class" and shut up. No one said they couldnt. And if they dont. . .its their choice. Period.

Everyone playing the same class gets borring. There is no reason that a player that puts 3/4 of his points into elite combatprofessions that aren't Commando shouldn't be able to compete on the battle field.

Hoabob, If you require Pistoleers, Carbineers, and Riflemen to be Master Marksmenthen I might agree with you. But as things currently stand you are comparing apples to oranges. Especially when trying to compare those three classes to a Bounty Hunter,

They should be able to compete, i agree with that, what i am saying is they have more options, sure their master pistoleer might not do as much damage, but they also have Creature Handling they could do, or combat medic or any other combo. All the other combos they have help add to their effectiveness in another way. Just cause they dont do as much straight on damage, they can survive longer, have a pet help them or anything else.

You can make novice pistoleer in two days of playing (less than 15 hours). You're telling me that a Novice Pistoleer should be able to stand toe-toe with a Novice Commando or Novice BH? Why? That makes no sense. To become a Master BH you need 217 skill points. That does not leave room for much else. To become a master pistoleer you only need to use 92. This leaves plenty of room to pick up CH or Riflemen or Smuggler or CM or even part of Commando. Just doesn't make sense that a pure Pistoleer can stand toe-to-toe with a BH when they can pick up a few other elite professions and become even more powerful. I agree that a Pistoleer/CH/Medic can stand toe-to-toe with a BH or Commando. But, not a pure Pistoleer. Get your head out of the clouds.

Well after todays patch you are going to see even less Melees. Melees are now the worst class out there and after this patch I am actually switching from my main TKA to either BH or Commando. No point to play a totally useless class.

You guys are starting to sound like the BHs now. My proffession is sooooo hard that I should be the best. How many of you have a lvl 200 AO player? or a 65 EQ? I would have thought most of you would have. Do you really think that any good hardcore PvP'er playing this game cannot or would not level a BH or a commando cause it is too hard?

P.S. my 3 1/2 year old son did half a level box on one of my characters.

P.S. #2 If I had $1 for every time I have read "I should be best cause my class is so hard/takes so many skill points", I could buy SOE and finally fix this game.

I didn't say that a Novice Commando should loose to a Novice Pistoleer. Only that if someone builds a character that is Master Pistoleer/Carbineer/Riflemen they should be just as deadly on the field as a Master Commando/anything.

Difficulty isn't really a factor in this game. Getting Commando just requires more points and more time but it isn't more difficult. Regardless making something take more time is never a good way of balancing the game. If something is worth putting the extra time into players will almost always take the route with the biggest pay off. Additional time only effectively works as a limiting factor when you want to keep one group less common then another.

Thats not the point i gather from this post. It isnt about people who do the hardest skill should have the most powerful. Its about how they spend more skill points and have less points to do other skills with they need their weapon damage to make up for not being able to heal or use a good CH quality pet, etc.
