Thread: if you were a commando before the big patch

All you stuck up commandos that worked so hard to make commando before the big patch shut the hell up. maybe us smart people new the proffession was bugged so they worked on the areas that would compliment commando when it was fixed. Maybe you dont even need to know the reason. The point is you have know pull on the proffession just because what time period you made commando. It makes me sick to listen to you guys in every post. Every **edit** post on this board there is some commando that has to stick his chest out that he made it before everyone else and before the big patch. What ever, you guys just did things the hard way.

Do you know how many people told me not to go down the commando path until they fixed it? Alot, so just give the attitude a break. Bandwagon you say? I WAS COMMANDO BEFORE THE BIG PATCH bandwagon get off that.

The galactic war is going on, work on bringing your faction together instead of causing drama. Commandos are looked at as elite soliders. Lower level soliders look up to us so show some leadership. this whole game is about helping each other out and doing things as a team. I am so sick of factions not working together internally.

Kinda reminds me of the whiny beta testers of most games in the past. Childish I agree.

Wow, Osiris. What a remarkably constructive post you have there.

I suspect that if someonetold you that all of the combat professions were broken you would be happy to make potholders just to play the game until they were fixed. Most of us on this board don't settle for less. And the boasting or bragging you complain about is extremely infrequent so you are complaining much about nothing.

In any event, the very first commandos (I am not one of them, but close behind them) have a lot to be proud of for making it. The masters particularly. Consider how easy your commando grind would have been if you could not find your weapons or your flamethrower did 19 damage when it hit. And they persevered anyway. AND GUESS WHAT? THEY MADE THE DEVS SIT UP AND TAKE NOTICE OF THE CLASS PROBLEMS. We should be very respectful of these soldiers. You have a lot to thank them for.

Someone didnt get any last night it seems. I couldnt give a **edit** who jumps on the band wagon really soon as something else gets fixed you all move back anyways makes no odds thats one of the things about surrendering skills to take new ones and hey look on the bright side soon as the Melee bopnus which has been confirmed to get fixed is removed most of you will go BH till that gets fixed. By who I mean all those that joined just for the PVP possibilities just for the nice looking damage numbers. No doubt some of you will fall in love with the profession and stay to those people I say good on you and better hope we never get nerfed to like before or you'll drop it, some of us wont.

Hi,

From the very beginning (and I have this documented on paper) that Commando was one of the professions I would set out to be. However I knew from being a beta tester that Commando was bugged so I too worked on my other skills and tried out different professions.Heck I even did professions that I thought I would never do when the game first came out like Master Artisan, but that tree is long gone now, I needed the points to work on toward Commando.

Here is what I had on paper. Brawler (29 points), Scout (17 points), Marksman (77 points), Smuggler (63 points),and Commando (63 points)..... which would have left me with 1 extra point. Now of course things change. I made it to the Smuggler tree and decided it was not for me, I wanted more combat and I didn't like the idea spending endless amounts of time crafting spices in a factory.

Here is what my character looks like now:

Artisan (0-0-3-1 .. was master for awhile..26 points), Brawler (4-0-0-0 .... 29 points), Medic (3-3-4-4 ..... this

OOPS!

Artisan (0-0-3-1 .. was master for awhile..26 points), Brawler (4-0-0-0 .... 29 points), Medic (3-3-4-4 ..... this will have to be reduced to 0-0-4-0 ..... thanks to posters enlightenment on the subject and the fact that it akes forever to make stuff in a factory.61 points), Marksman ( Master .... 77 points), Scout (4-0-4-0 .... I had need the help of a Rancor while getting stuff from my harvestors .... for a period of over 3 weeks my harvestors would be camped by 16 - 20 red cons. .... this was before the CH patch... 43 points), Pistoleer (Novice ...... 6 points) .... and finally Commando (Novice ..... 6 points) ... currently leaving me with 2 extra points.

Ok enough of this rant. Anyway I also wanted to thank Ivoni for that great post on Commando.

I was the first Commando on the Kettemoor server to get a Flamethrower. I payed over 100k for it as the resources needed to make it weren't available except in private stores. Imagine my surprise when it was just about as useful as the unfixed acid rifle.

Yeah, I'm an oldie.

There is something very wrong with this post...I am a novice Commando (1|0|3|0) and I'm a annoyed by elitist Commandos...but just like use new commandos aren't all bandwagoneers or dabbles...not all Pre-Patch Commandos are Elitists...don't slam all of them...Anyone...and I mean ANYONE who reaches Master deserves respect...what they do when they reach Master is their own choice...they can say they won't teach anyone and we can disagree and tell them why that sucks...or why they are wrong...but they still deserve respect...When any Master in any profession trains me (haven't been trained by any Commandos) I tip them higher then I tip non-masters...it's a respect thing for me...If they want to spout off about "In the old days..." like grizzled old warriors then I will sit and listen until grandpa nods off and I can sneak way (lol...joke you old timers)...

Ivoni may have some slightly elitist attitudes, but Ivoni has earned them...and I respect that...plus he Commando Guide that Ivoni created has helped me more then words can say...It convinced me to focus on the FT tree first...told me where I could find some local trainers...gave great advice on stat migration and so on...I've planned my strategy to obtaining Master around much of that guide...If Ivoni and the rest of the Master's out there want to brag about being pre-patch and tell us how hard it was for them...then so be it...they earned the right...

Disagree with them...tell them they need to change their attitudes...ok...but don't bad mouth their character...they earned our respect as our fore-runners...they paved the way...

Nice words Garvin, I couldn't have said it better. Im not seeing as many Commandos as I was seeing about a week ago though. Hehe, I bet they couldnt stand missing 80% of the time as a novice. Its been a tough road, but finally it was well worth the wait even though I had to chuck 150k in old useless equipment hehe.

That's just it...respect has been earned by doing something that "anyone" can do, but not everyone is willing to make the effort to do...especially because things were harder earlier then now...I agree on that point...Anyone can become a Master...but how many actually do...or instead just give up on the grinding and pursue something easier....

Respect them because they have EARNED it...now whether they keep that respect via their actions...that's another story...I will respect any Master Commando I come in contact with, but if they act poorly, they lose that respect...

Deeds Can Earn Respect...But Actions Can Lose It...There effort to make it all the way to Master I respect...Many of them could just give up all the the field tactics tree and use those skill points elsewhere to make them a stonger player overall in PVP...but no...they want to be a Master Commando...it's important to them...to me that's cool...

I agree, they have my respect. Its just driffting away.

I find it hard to respect those that would call all new novice commando aBandwagon Jumpers. The reasons they are just comming into the class is their own. Whether its just to be Flame 4 or any other branch or if they go all the way... It makes little diffrence to none at all to your game play.

How and why should someone give those that have spoken so strongly about bandwagon jumpers any resepect?

So, if its a matter of respect then fine everyone should respect everyone. That includes old timers that have the elite attitudes.

So, Garvin is absolutly correct. They deserve respect. However, Garvin is also correct about actions and the consequences of those actions.

Lets try and put this to an end, and save the bandwagon comments for people that just start watching your favorit sports teamcause they are on a winning streak. I am sure there are much more usefull things to talk about other this.

I for one want to hear stories of now that things are working you can go here or there and take on such and such creature for an great time. OH OH and the stories about heres how to servive this encounter of PVPs.Even yet...Here is my stradigy on how to take out a mean BH thats spaming everyone.

Thats the things I come here to see not this sad struggle for resepect.
