Sorry, I disagree.

Commando's prereqs are fine where they are. I think most BHs would agree that theirs are fine as well.

Why are you people so against dabblers. I never see smugglers say oh your not a master smuggler you suck. Only here do I see it why is that. We are all dabblers even if you are a master commando you still have points in other professions. Should scouts dog you for taking exploration should medics dog you for taking pharm 3. Whats with all the anger and hypocracy?

He means that to get a BH to master it requres to master all of scout and marksman as a pre-requisite which will leave you with 33 skill points to spend on something else and leaving you enough points to master BH.

For Commandos we need marksman and unarmed 4 which leaves us with 81 points. That is enough to go master in another profession linked to marksman or TK. It also allows a Commando to be far more versatile if they do wish to spread the remaining points over a number of professions.

Its not that BH are less powerful, just less versatile. That is not necessarily a bad thing, just that more often than not BHs will be very similar to eachother.

You can of course look at it another way, if you really liked scout skills then a BH has a clear advantage, because the BH is a master scout and a Commando has to invest points in unarmed 4. There are both pros and cons, you just pick the one that compliments what other professions you wish to dabble in.

I do think that the Commando versatily is a very good bonus to have, its just less of a bonus if you wished to focus on scout-based professions. For example, if both a BH and Commando wanted to dabble in CH then they would have 33 vs 38 skill points to use, alot smaller gap than the 33 vs 81.

I don't agree

This game is built on dabbling. you can spread your points all over the place and never master one proffession, or you can pool them all into one concentration. So you have the choice of going for one proffession or spreading em out to make a new mix of professions that suits your play style.

BH prerequsits take up so many points to help keep their numbers down, not to keep dabblers out. After all for the 3 to 4 mins of screen time Boba Fett had in the original trilogy he was by far the most popular character in terms of popularity to screen time ratio. High numbers in the BH proff were inevitable so the high cost to get it is in place to persuade players to go another route.

Everyone has pts left over to spend elsewhere, and if you spend em then you're dabbling, so no need to whine. We all do it and are encouraged to do it.

The flamethrower is just the flavor of the month right now, once you see the other commando weapons fixed you won't be hampered by only being able to use the FT. Then you can show off the power of all the other commando toys, which the dabblers won't have access to unless they surrender some skills.

Hahahahahahahaha. Thanks, that made my day. I've been reading the forums most of the night, and it gets your blood boiling after a while.

But as for the forum, this game is all about dabblers. It's about getting to try what you like, and if you don't like it, try something else. It's the absolute genius behind this game. When you play some other MMO's, like DAoC or EQ, when you get to level 20 and decide you don't want to be a Warrior anymore, you've just flushed a character.

With this game, I've been able to be a Marksmen/Brawler working for Commando, then an Artisan, then an Image Designer, then a Medic, then an Architect, then a Scout, then a Creature Handler. Now I'm back to Commando/Smuggler and still a CH. I've been able to dabble.

Besides, how exactly does a dabbler in the Commando skill hurt you? You're still a nut with a flamethrower and you can still kill things. It's not like an Artisan class where you're competing for the same business. Dabblers can't kill things as effectively, but they're just trying it out. Let them.

If anything, make it harder for Elitest "We want everyone else out" type people to play. That makes for a better community.

Back yet again, for another round of SWG... um... fun. Yeah, that's it. (It's not just a diversion while I wait in the queues for WoW BG's)

I dont have a problem with dablers per say, but I certainly dont give them the professional courtesy I give other "real" commando's.

Aside from that, my only complaint is that master commando should mean a bit more then it currently does.

As for the topic at hand... I wouldnt have a problem with the requirements being raised, IF we were given some things similar to what bounty hunters have. Special mission terminals would be nice. Better skill lines would be great.

As it stands now, commando do a ton of damage. Bear in mind that Im NOT complaining but Bounty Hunters gain many additional advantages due to all of the skill points they spend. Commando's are very much a one trick pony, and if we were made more expensive skill-point wise, other features would have to be added to off set this. As it stands currently, commando is NOT worth more skill points then it already costs.

Because I don't think any of the smuggler lines are equally as powerful as the master smuggler, at master commando we are no more powerful then a fruit with flamethrower4 when it comes to flamethrowers. And everyone is picking up the commando line ONLY for the flamethrower, this pisses us off because everyone ELSE who sticks with what they have start to complain about the massive flux of nuts with grillers running around and thus the nerf fest starts. Not to mention people are picking up novice commando just to get their hands on the launcher pistol, why is beyond me. Its not that these people are wrong or anything, its that they are more powerful then master commandos because they can apply more skill points in fields that are more usefull (like CH or pistoleer), this way they get specials and deffenses, that weren't meant for a nut with a flamethrower to have. You can take up flamethrower 4, the deffensive trees of all 3 ranged weapon specialists and the deffensive tree of the TKA proffession, slap on a suit of armor and bam, insta pvp god.

"Commando's are very much a one trick pony..."

Hmm.. let's see.

Action shot, health shot, mind shot, suppressive fire, warning shot, ua blind, flame single/cone 1+2, incredible heavy damage weapons with AP3, the ability to use all but five guns in the game, the ability to use any damage type, an easy in to TKA, Pistoleer, Rifleman or Carbine and 81pts to do it with assuming you are a master, more if you are not.

If you think commando's are a one trick pony, then you need use a little more imagination.

I am a real commando I am just not a master commando. I spent all the same skill points to earn novice commando. I earned the 40k combat experience I needed. I took commando becuase as a smuggler I have some great skills but no weapons. With commando I get the most accurate and damaging pistol in the game. I also get a great flamethrower. Master commandos get Rocket launchers Particle beams, Grenades, The HAR. Yea I know not all of them are that great but they will improve and some are great a rocket launcher in the hands of a master commando is a sight to behold.

There are lots of people that take smuggler just for the DF line or for Slicing and no one treats them any less becuase they have choosen to just take part of the smugglers skills.
