I am a Master Commando\ Master Smuggler and have always enjoyed the proffesion. One thing that is bothering me is all of th eposts I see about going commando after the rebalance. I liked being unique and I feel like that will all disapear now. Is anyone else discouraged by the pre-requisite changes or am i alone. My greatest fear is that the commando will be watered down and made weaker than it should be.

The only way commando will be watered down is if we let it. As long as anyone in the TC doesn't do anything that could hurt us we will be fine.
Merlus Van'tel, Rebel Captain - Human, BH/Commando/Medic - Bloodfin
Qwa'ten, Rebel Corporal - Twi'lek, Fencer - Sunrunner
Wyndam, RSF Pilot - Rodian, Swordsman/Medic - Naritus

I'd rather be the FoTM then be laughed at personally...besides, there will be no such thing as A Profession being the FoTM post-CU...it won't be about professions at all...it will be about template builds...a lot of folks could be Commandos, but wil they be Rifleman Commandos or TK Commandos or Pistoleer Commandos, etc...A lot of folks will go commando to power-up their template build, but a lot of people will also go TK to gain avoidance or Smuggler to gain Mezzing or Fencer to gain bleeds or BH to hunt Jedi, and on and on...
Commandos will see an rise in new people, but I see that as a good thing...it will mean that the Devs finally did something right for us and DID make us better...Hopefully soon after the CU hits, we'll stop looking at it like "I'm a Commando and you are a Rifleman" and instead look at it as "I'm a Rifleman Commando and you are a Commando Rifleman...we appear similar, but you focus on your Rifleman skills, and I focus on the Commando aspects and weapons"...

well my plan is master smuggler and either mastering commando or pistoleer(which i currently am) and dump the rest of my skill points into whichever i didnt master .Still need to see what the actuall skill trees look like

Doh...almost forgot...I really want to try out Commando/BH...fry me up some Jedi...lol...Actually, I have nothing against Jedi, but I've always wanted to out the "hunting" aspect of the game...
Careful garvin...the Agents are watching ![]()
If commando gets watered down, or we become a FOTM (which we won't) because of the CU (which means nerfage...which would skew the entire thing over again!)...then I wouldn't be a happy camper.
Im 150% sure that this won't happen mind you...

If I had to pick the new FoTM...or rather...the professions that I think will be most popular for dabbling, I'd say (in no particular order):
1) Bounty Hunter (Jedi Hunting)
2) Commando (Power-Up Profession)
3) Smuggler (Mezzer)
4) Doctor / Combat Medic (Healing Abilities)
5) TK (Avoidance / Armorless Ability)
It should be taken into account, though, that my prediction is based on what I've seen on paper and not ingame...I feel like those professions have some of the cooler and more strategic "effects" on template builds, but each one will depend on the playstyle of the player.

My prediction for FOTM?
Master TK
Master Powers
force healing
defenses of tk
offese of Master powers, and when your forcepool runs out, you still have all your special points left over to go at it with TK....

I am a master smuggler and a former master commando, it wasnt worth the skill points to keep. I will be a returning commando , and im sure that it will be a popular template

Sorry...FoTM = Flavor of The Month...A term often used for an overly popular profession usually due to being seen as the most powerful or "uber"...often this brings unwanted attention from NERF herders and ends up on the chopping block...

Garvin, you keep using Rifleman/Commando as an example, which makes this Rifleman/Commando from launch day very happy. Those of us who've been Commandos all along get to be grumpy, wise old masters telling horror stories to all the noob Commandos from the olden days. "And there I was, faced with a horrible Nuna and all I had was my flamethrower."
