So, Garvin...any peeps from the Devs about what lies down the road for us dedicated ground-pounders and our beloved heavy weapons?
Personally, with all that we are suppose to get with the Revamp, I think we'll be more then willing to wait for further fixes to be completely honest...it will probably take us a month or two to get over the happy tingley feelings of not dying before we get offa second special in combat AND being able to last in PvP...Some Commandos will even be to busy trying out new template combos with they may have never considered before to worry about our other issues for a time...

Well, I for one, will certianly be happy and tingly to NOT DIE. Based on the nuggets that I have pieced together from the various Corr Posts, I can already think of many templates...mostly templated towards massive damage output...
I dont mind going out in a blaze of glory....but I sure as heck want to take a few corpses with me.
With the coming changes, Im hoping that it will be enough to add a little bit of life back into the game. I truly hope that the armor changes usher in a change away from the legions of composite-wearing clones...that alone would be enough to keep me interested for a while. Still would be nice to actually have my ST armor useful for something other than PA decor...though I am not holding my breath for that to happen any time soon.
I suppose my main point was that I hope the Devs are listening to the throngs of endlessly bored players...and that they have some ideas to introduce new challenges into the game, both PvP and PvE. I know that adjusting to the CB will be a big, (and fun...hopefully) challenge. After that however, there needs to be some serious fixing of GCW mechanics, PvE content...etc.
Ah...and one more thing regarding Correspondents. Being present on many of the prof boards, Garvin is hands down, the most communicative and dedicated correspondent. If you look at the other prof forums and their "CB Summary Threads" Garvins quotes outnumber those of other Corrs by about 10 to 1.

Knowing what I know makes 2 things frustrate me to know end...
1) The Waiting for the Revamp
2) The Waiting for the Revamp Docs to go public
You don't know how many nights I've sat there with my finger over the "submit post" button of info I really shouldn't be posting (legally)...
I don't mean to come across sounding like TH, but when you all do find out whats coming, it will make some shread of sense why it's taking so long and why they didn't rush things out months prior...You'll get a sense of the massive undertaking they are taking with this project...Think of it as re-inventing the combat (all aspects from general to specific) for all of SWG....In this process, every special and weapon will have to be tweaked...even Armor will be getting it's share of tweaks...There will be new graphics and animations added to the game that are probably still being designed as far as I know...And there will be cool effects that aren't in game that will lead to even more tactic possibilities in combat...
Again...I hate the wait...The wait for the revamp isn't so bad for me...but the wait for the Docs so you all know what I'm talking about is DRIVING ME INSANE if you can't tell...All I can hope for is that either they come out soon or we get some word on why the delay on them being released...We correspondents have been repeatedly told that nothing has changed from what we saw at the summit (with the exception of a few additions and other minor adjustments) so it's hard to guess why the delay is taking so long...

The reason is that SWG people have put A LOT of effort into JTL. The main focus at this time is in the beta testing of the stuff. Fixing what is broke there and then retesting it. There is not enough time for TH to handle both JTL at this point and the CombatRevamp Docs. They will be released when there is time.
Note: Last fridat feature stated that over the next few weeks, till JTL launch, that the friday features will focus on JTL stuff. So we will find out more stuff on JTL and in the mean time grind out FS XP.

I for one don't want to grind out FS XP and tie up skill points only to later find out that the Combat Revamp Documents show that I could have used those FS skill points better under the new system. My goal is to have a fun character, even if that's not a Jedi. Until the mythical CR Docs are released, I'm frozen in place like I'd been hit with 10,000 Cryobans. And that isn't fun.

I just hope the GCW really improves after the CR. To me that is big deal. The only problem is things are so screwed up now it's hard for RPs to explain this. Plus COA was never really finished which was really dumb and deadeye dosen't work or somethin. They really need to end the myths of COA and explain whats happening. I think they could please a lot of people if they finally resolved it cause the COA was a pretty big deal from what I remember.
Yea, I can't wait for the GCW too. Come to think of it, I can't wait till JTL is finally released, the Combat Rebalance is done and GCW as well. THis will hopefully put Star Wars into the game. ![]()

JTL I can wait for. In fact, I wish JTL was still way, way off. I'd much rather they devote ALL of thier resources to fixing the core issues of the game that are still broken, get the dang CB done and tweak the GCW so that it actually means something. THEN they can move us into space.
The trick, at least as far as I understand, to JTL is to think of it as a seperate game with it's own team...right now they have much of their efforts all plugged into getting JTL out (that's a guess on my part)...BUT, when JTL comes out it will have it's own team to maintain and improve it...So running JTL and SWG at the same time will not cause a seperation of their attention or abilities...JTL would be it's own entity with it's own folks dealing with it's issues...SWG will actually get MORE attention because all those people who were scooted over to JTL to get it out will be coming back to SWG (and several extras who are no longer needed on JTL)....

Many of us at the summit expressed concern that the Devs would be dividing their attention between to 2 products to fix issues that come up in both games...They assured us at that time there would be a seperate team dealing with JTL issues then the SWG issues and no manpower would be shifted over to maintain JTL...of course, things are subject to change...
I know that JTL is a seperate team. This means one ofthree things: Either (A) existing elements of the SWG dev team were segregated off to work on JTL (B) some elements of the existing SWG team went to JTL, in addition to new Dev resources brought on board or (C) JTL is composed of a totally new gaggle of Devs, coders etc. What ever way you slice it, JTL has caused the fixing/enhancing of SWG to slow somewhat.
JTL is and has been a core aspect of SWG since launch and people have been clammoring for it. Further, JTL will no doubt be a money-make for Sony, which is all well and good by me. So far as Sony is concerned..and probably a good portion of the gaming community as well, you can't have Star Wars without X-Wings and TIEs.
The issue for me is past performance on the part of the Dev Team. New Content = Broken Content..shoved out to Live and then forgotten because there are 500 other things that have to be done. Fixes usually amount to an equal number of new problems, breaking other things that were somewhat working.
It seems to me that if SOE wants to keep the game running, they have to address the concerns of the core of their long-term players and fix the pressing issues that have plaugued the game since launch. Once you sate those of us who are a bit rabid about core issues of the game, we will settle down and go about our business. We expect new content and features to be buggy and in need of fixing. But constantly shoving out new stuff that needs more fixing when there are already hundreds of other old issues that have been stuck in our craw for the last year or so, makes us cranky.
I know you've been around at least as long as I have, G...and I can recall some of you pre-Correspondent posts...
So far as I am concerned, the CB will go a long way towards making me less cranky. But JTL is like the new puppy that gets brought home, when the old dog hasn't had a fresh bowl of water or food in a couple of weeks. Plus, I learned to complain in the Army...so I'm real good at it. ![]()
