Is it better to get a flamethrower that is sliced for speed or damage?

I already have an idea of the answer, but I want to see other opinions and the reasons behind them.

I'd appreciate your input.

Thanks,

It depends. If you have a flamethrower on you that hasn't been sliced, it will be random. Smugglers can't pick what to slice (which by the way is stupid, but that is an entirely different subject). However if you have the choice to buy either a damage sliced and speed sliced flamethrower, it depends on your current skill with a flamethrower. If you are just starting, I would take a speed sliced one as you will want to be able to shoot faster to make up for all the misses. However, if you are pretty far along the flamethrower tree, I would take a damage sliced one. The modifiers further up the flamethrower tree can make up for a 5.0 speed flamethrower, but there are no damage modifiers that can be gained. That's what I think.

Well I would go with a speed flame thrower. Currently I use a 2.9 attack speed, and I prefer it over one my friend has. I do more dps than his does, and it does about 50 points of damage more. It is great to get all my specials off ever 5 or so seconds. YES I get mine off like very 5 seconds.

There is no difference in delay after using a special between a fast FT and a slow one. I have the same delay with my quick and slow FT.

As other posters have said, if you are new to the FT get a quick one because you will miss alot and you wont get speed bonuses until later on. At FT4 I fire my 4.7second FT every 2 seconds which is the hard cap for heavy weapons (1 second for non-heavy weapons).

It is what ammuses me about pistollers drooling over a 1.2 second pistol, they could fire the slowest pistol every second and yet always pay a fortune for the fast ones.

A master rifleman can shoot their slowest rifle every second aswell. At higher levels the speed means nothing, the real delay is the delay placed on specials which are not tied to the speed of the weapon (before or after speed modifications).

Oh, and the power of the specials are tied in to the maximum damage potential of the weapon, if you use a special with a low damage high speed weapon you wont have the same potential damage.

I dont use FTs that are not at least 1000 max damage.

Take this information and educate the weaponcrafters of your server that to me seem to have no idea how things work. They overprice fast weapons and underprice hard hitting weapons. Make it easier for the noobs to get the fast ones and let those who have the means make up the difference with the hard hitting ones. I can make over 100k in a few hours so the cost of the weapons do not really mean as much to me.

I've had three flamethrowers sliced, and for gods sake. They were all damage and no speed...

I believe I went through 9 Flamethrowers before I had one sliced for speed which is what i was wanting. There doesnt seem to be that much difference between having a sliced or damage FT, but I prefer the speed sliced FT myself.

Get one sliced for each

Put them in different hot keys.

when you are relying on ten-second clocked special moves use your damage flamethrower.

When relying on no special moves, use the speed sliced.

If you're lucky with all your speed mods at master commando you can get a 3.6 speed thrower and shoot it at once every 1.5 seconds.

Anything more than that is just gravy. You need your damage over time upped.

Best way to do it is to start with the speedy and get their HAM down by about a third, then switch to your damage sliced one, aim, and flamestream or cone them. The third of the damage that you did coupled with the stream/cone will kill them

This works well against NPCs, but every PVPer is a BH Commando so you'll be on your back and dizzy before you can even think of a special move. What you really need to PVP, apparently, is a scatter pistol.

I use both about equally,

I have a 4.9 1141, and a3.5 868

I definitly notice the damage when using FS2, so I use the damage one on nig mobs, and the fast on in PVP or fighting multiple enemies
