I don't plan on mastering commando, because I dont feel I want to ever use the acid rifle... so if I'm going 4-4-4-0 what would you suggest to fill it out with to be a decent pvp character?

Actually it is worth it to get master commando for Cone II.

Take your damage done with Single II, then imgaine doing that damage on 3-4 enemies surrounding the target you throw it at.

Smuggler, 4040. The PvP bonuses from the Underworld line are really nice, as are FD and Low Blow. Last Ditch is a bit of a letdown compared to the rest of the commando paingivers so you could probably go 4030 and not miss ittoo much.

Master commando for Cone2 is nice.

Smuggler has some very nice perks.

Let's not forget Novice Medic. A person who can heal lives longer.

And don't forget the Pistoleer. 0-0-4-0 that is (if you're not going to use it's specials for the LP), it's the only way to get some good resistances without kicking bunnys for two weeks again to become a tka.

I didn't approve it myself, though (still just 0-0-2-0), but i think there will be an interesting impact on your pvp-performance with the knockdown and similar resistance you can aquire here.

Any of you guys ever tried this ? Is it worth the effort ?

I've found that the heavy weapons tree can be quite useful in PvP as well. Remember that AT-STs and turrets are going to have blast damage vulnerability in the near future, and I believe you need heavy weapons 1 to help "flip" a base.

Also, the PBC can doalmost 6K (pre-pvp reduction) against an unarmored opponent, and over 4500 to an AR-1 target (pre-pvp, pre-resists). That's not going to kill someone in goodcomposite, but it has a good chance of incapping anyone in lower-level armor. Having a longer-ranged option is quite nice against people who have learned to keep their distance.

The only problem is that accuracy is pretty poor before the 4th box, and not so great even then.

here is what i'm looking for, granted i'll have to dump all my slice and spice skills (kinda waiting to see how the smuggler changes turn out before i drop all my smuggling stuff) but...

Master Commando

Smuggler 4/0/4/0

TKA 4/3/0/4

this gives you the smuggler's dirty fighting to use with the LP, it also gives you the meditate line, and the TKA defensive skills(once they actually work properly?). novice medic is nice, but waiting for your specials timer to run down just to use your stims kinda sucks...

Right now I have :

Master Commando

0/0/3/1 Pistoleer(from the pre-patch commando days)

1/0/3/0 Medic

3/0/0/0 Scout (for terrain nav)

Thinking of dropping Pistoleer and getting FA4 and Pharm4.

Granted I am a master commando, but why should people force themselves into a profession choice when the game is specifically designed to let you do what you want with your skill points? I'm holding master commando for now because I have hope that in the next few months the bugs in the basic game will be fixed and the devs will move to major profession balancing/overhauling, and I don't want to grind out the xp again. If it doesn't look like this will happen though, why should I put points into 3 lines that basically do nothing for me so that I can use one cone attack which I miss almost 50% of the time when it is used?

Do you make fun of people for investing in multiple funds since they aren't actually trusting their original decision too?

Commando 4/4/4/4 (everything stinks but flame, but I love flame cone 2)

Medic 2/0/0/0 (there are nice stim B's that can heal 350-800 plus you can stop bleed)

Scout 3/0/0/0 (why get 4, it only helps burst run efficiency)

Smuggler 2/0/4/0 (10% off faction costs plus reduced faction point death penalty plus some good combat pistol - try flame cone in some faction missions plus feign death)

Master Marksman/Unarmed IV (prereqs)

plus 8 points to spend as you see fit

I'm a master, but I'd just say...you are welcome to your own opinion. This isn't DAOC or EQ. The game was designed to allow cross profession players. If the rewards of the master title don't merit the cost in skill points, then they are better spent elsewhere.
