Thread: Novice Commando wondering why weapons other than Flamethrowers are NERFED.

I've read some things about Commando and it seems other than Flamethrowers and Grenades, the profession's other weapons aren't very good. Can someone tell me why? I haven't experimented with them yet, but my alt is a weaponsmith and is going to make a bunch of the other heavy weapons. Any thoughts would help. Thanks

Gernades are also bad, so its just the Flamethrower that is worth a darn. And I dont think that they are so much as nerfed as they just pain outright aren't worth the materials to make them (for now). For a weapon to be nerfed, it actually had to serve a decent purpose in the first place. FT has been nerfed, or at least the flame DOT was anyway.

So, they are not cost effective because they are disposable? And the fire DOT used to be better? I have falmesingle1 (don't laugh please) and I've set things on fire, almost like a pistol health shot bleed.

I believe bak in the day (pre-FT nerf) that fire DOT would do around 3k per tick. Considering what it does now, that is a major nerf.

I think that all of the weapons are not worth the materials they are made of. Disposable weapons hit what is it, less that 50% of the time? Less than if your not master? And as for gernades, they have around a 25 to 30m damage area, but only a throw area of 16m, that means boom goes the commando. But these are old complaints.

A lot of the problems with rockets and gernades can be over came if the weaponsmith maxes out range/ideal before going for max damage.

As both a Master Weaponsmith (12pt) and a Master Commando.

For Grenades I put 7 points into damage and 5 points into range, this gives around a 19 meter throw range at around +12 Accuracy.

The two best Consumable Heavy Weapons are the Heavy Particle Beam Cannon and the Rocket Launcher.

You can get very good Rocket Launchers by using all Advanced Parts, and this includes using Adv. Weapon Scopes and max the experimentation the scope for accuracy and use the rest of the points in HAM.

Now the kicker for Rocket Launchers is on the Proton Grenades, is you can use totally junk resources on the parts and final assembly on the grenade withno experimentation on any of it and it has no effect on the final assembly on the Rocket Launcher itself. So with using junk resources and not experimenting on the parts and the assembly on the proton grenade, it will save a lot of factory time on making that part.

If you need any other info just let me know.

Thanks for all the tips. Got a Launcher Pistol, Flamethrower, andGrenades. Guess I'll try the Rocket Launchers and Heavy Particle Beams. Thanks for the all the crafting tips on the Rocket Launchers that would save me a lot of wasted good resources. So,some of the gripes are outdated? I use grenades and don't blowe myself up, I think, though I'mbuffed and only using C12s.

LP can be pretty nice if you pick up pistoleer to go with your commando. HPBC is Very nice if used properly. The key with all the Heavy support weapons is looking at the optimal range and taking a knee as close to that range as you can get. I rarely miss with a HPBC. The Acid stream launcher is hardly better than your HAR so I don't use that much. The Lightning cannon is nice to keep around for things with a vuln to electricity.

One easy answer. We were destroyed and shattered from our former glory as commandos. Flamethrowers are even nerfed if you want the truth. The Dots used to do a lot more, enough to where we were semi-good in PVPing. Im sure all of us are hoping they will un-nerf commando someday.

There is one thing that is always hit, when inside the blastrange of a grenade. Me.

No, the real question is how do I shoot a stream of solid flame at a Torton that is 1m in front of me and miss? In First Person the damn thing takes up the whole screen.
