Not much until we know what it means for timing..."thank you for you patience" never gives me a warm feeling when it feels like a thank you ahead of time more then a thank you for the time already waited...

PS...what you see in the annoucement is everything that the Sandbox testers know as well...we have no info on the expansion...

Personally I think it is bull****. This is most likely the real reason of the delays in the CURB. The fact that they would delay it just to have only one beta is wrong.

I am just stating my opinion. I know nothing more about the delays then you do. But that seems to be a reasonable conclusion.

I kinda feel that as well... I have had both a smuggler and a commando since sept/oct of '03. This is very disheartening that they are stalling again. This seems nothing more than a 'flash/bang' to stall for more dev time.

Heck, to me (and prolly garvin) this was also startling....didn't see it coming.

This brings on 3 feelings:

Excitement, Sadness, Startledness (is that even a word?)

Excitement - A new expansion pack cool....I can just guess what the scope will be! Remember the 2 year annivesary reward idea for an AT-PT? This expansion may very well introduce us to combat vechs, and modifiable land vehicles...maybe we'll finally get our tank!

Sadness - Im worried that Beta testing will delay the CU even further (and who knows, maybe thats why things have been delayed a bit more too...other than the CU development). Alpha will come before obviously, but will still be impacted. I want the CU out as soon as possible, its been nearly 14 months of waiting and having to wait because of -another- expansion pack isn't the wisest of choices....

However, this may of course mean that the expansion will see a whole lot of things that have been in development in the past 2 years, that the original dev team initially wanted to include (such as vehciles with combat capabilities...ive been looking through a ton of old stuff lately)...as well as new stuff - Maybe a Hoth and new Battlefield stuff to go with the CU? (even though...Battlefield Revamps should really be free ...Id pay for a complete and utter new Battlefield system that encompasses whole new worlds however...) A lot of old promises could be realized with this expansion pack...and could be why it will seem to have arrived MUCH faster than JTL...

Startledness - Wowzers....an announcement of another Beta with the CU, albeit very simply worded...still, is an impact. The devs threw us a ball from leftfield with that one...

I hate the fact that now the CU will have been pushed back in priority not behind one expansion, JTL, but two. This is typical SOE bunk, and the reason I had cancelled my account for a few months. The delay better not be big, or I swear to god, I'll uninstall and break my SWG disks.

And to respond further --

God forbid they include a smuggler revamp in that expansion pack...I believe they told that community that it wouldn't be a part of a new expansion pack, but a seperate entity. HOWEVER, new additions to all professions will be nice, BUT, the smuggler revamp should be free and prior...

Hmm, how long did it take JTL to start beta testing from when they announced it?

Unless this is a smaller expansion... (JTL was a MASSIVE expansion adding a whole new genra to the game)

This one could just be an extra planet or two...

OR they could be adding a FPS mode to SWG that would be fun

They announced the JTL beta I think the beginning of summer/middle, and started testing early fall.

This could very well be a big expansion (as it should), but the foundations are in place...so it IS logical that it would get out faster...as you're right, the JTL pack added a whole new level.

Hopefully we'll see capital ships in this, and it won't just be all for the land game...we need more connections between space and ground, as well as more fun in space!

All Im worried about is if this affects the CU...it would do SOE more harm than good than forcing you guys to wait even more, when fixes to combat should have been made long ago.

What is getting me is that you guys have no info on the Expansion yet if it is supposed to be tested together like that. What happened to the idea of the Sandbox being very felxible in order to be able to make constant tweaks to the combat system. Seems to me that this is going to really complicate things with testing and the ability to make such on-the-fly adjustments. Maybe I am wrong and they have planned for this, or else they just threw it out the window and decided that they should wait until after Episode III, ride it's wave and throw and expansion out along with the new combat system. Kinda makes it feel as if they are leabing for propoganda and media rather than their anxious playerbase.

*Edit* I could be misinterpeting it, but the feel of that post made it seem that they were going to be put out at the same time, but with the CU free and of course the need to pay for the expansion.

And Garvin... yes God forbid if they make this expansion some kind of Underworld expansion and force smuggler's to pay for the ability to smuggle... again.. and again.

The bolded part... It would be a very bad thing if the CU is pushed for the expansion as long as the community has been waiting.

P.S. I should not be here posting as it is quite a trip to be standing in Theed as a combatant (unbuffed and unarmored)chatting with you all and hear combat music in a rebel Theed.... Yes Vader and his lackies landed on my headand I actually managed to set one on fire while running away

The only reason i would and could except the CU was delayed at all for the expansion was the new expansion has something big that will be majory intertwined with the CU. Such as combat vehicles.

Man, that was an anouncement i wasn't expecting. I wasn't expecting an expansion anouncement till late in this year.
