Resource wise, the expansion had little or no impact whatsoever on the CU. The ONLY impact that im worried about is the testing phase...
For example, if the expansion is ready to test...and the CU isnt, that means they either rush the CU or delay...
If the CU is ready to test, and the expansion isn't...they'll delay the testing, meaning CU is delayed (or has been the case in the past delays)
The resource issue may not impact, but the testing might be...as they want to get both out roughly at the same time, and save some man hours on setting up Beta servers.

Seriously though...I totally agree with you...I'm seriously upset we've waited this long and especially that testing hasn't started yet...I'm even more upset that communication is where it is at, but I do feel like it's better then it use to be...
But on the bright side, we've been pushing the Devs for a release date...they've told us that they no longer give out dates and we've been forced to live with that...then...TH makes a post that says MAY...finally...something officially said that we can hold them to...before, the closest "official" statement on a release date regarding the CU was that testing would start in January...but something happened in January that delayed that (understandably), I just wish they had communicated out the reason as I feel it would be acceptable to most of you.
But one thing we all needto be aware of...don't trust any date given...if the Devs say friday, don't be surprised if it doesn't happen friday...if the Devs say May, keep an eye out for anything that could spell more delays (and trust me...the signs will be out there)...at this point, we should be use to disappointments when it comes to expected timelines...we should be use to them, we shouldn't accept them, and I'm glad that folks are voicing their concerns. Maybe the more people misinterpret the reasons for the delays, the more likely the devs will open up the communication channels a bit more.

in an IGN interview they said the CU and the expansion will be beta tested at the same time, so ti would be safe to say they MIGHT be released at the same time as well

OK, so lets say it all comes out in May . . . Hmmm, doesn't that mean that even if thesandbox starrted today, that would mean approximately 2 moths of testing?
On a side note, anyone but me not seem all that excited about this expansion? Doesn't it seem like this was just pulled out of a hat, at the spare of the moment, becuase of the movie? Don't we have a whole slew of issues with the original game and the other expansion, JTL?
Oh well, I'm just thinking is all . . .

Anybody besides me notice the release date for Revenge of the Wookies?
