Ok first off for you rifle men. We commandos actually fought to get the melee status of our weapons removed so we dont do the 2.5x mod to you.

For the melee types. We actually have to have unarmed 4 to get our proffesion. So we shouldnt get any bonus for that at all. Is that what you are saying?

I do understand your frustration at having some guy you just killed get cloned and come flame single 1 2 or cone 1 2 you then you are dead. Revenge TEF is gone so it wont happen anymore. I hated that happening to me also it was lame and completely stupid.

Now for why I think the 2.5x mod should be removed.

1) Our specials have to be within 16 meters from target. No other proffesion except melee has to have that, and they dont have the 2.5x mod in there proffesion.

2) The flame thrower is not a rifle the HAR is but its broke so bad no one wants to use it. When it gets fixed I say yes leave the 2.5x on it.

3) Instead of the mod on flame thrower they should have reduced the range at which it is affective to say 40 meters or less. The DOT should take into account armour so that if wearing full composite you dont get much damge over the time.

4) This one is just my play style so it doesnt apply to all. I dont PvP much I hunt creatures and they can hit within 16 meters so when I am running away they constantly hit me and what do you know I am dead even though I have been at least 16 meters away from them.

5) Our other weapons such as the rocket launcher and grenades cost so much as to not be worth the creds to use them on other players. They also are extremly inaccurate so you miss 7 out of 10 times and thats at master level.

6) The launcher pistol is less affective than the fwg5 so whats the point of useing this weapon. There are no specials asscociated with it so its only good for ATST's.

Yes in PvP I can run up do a special and then burst run away to keep you at a distance until you burn to death. The whole time though you can be using your special to shot me as I run away. 2 mind shot 3's can take a player down real fast. I can also do this on creatures but it can only be done once. I have no idea what the time to rest is but its very long. In PVE or PVR I can run up flame the group then run away. Yes they die but by the time I get back another group has spawned and I cant burst run this time.

So do you other proffesions truely think gimping one proffesion is worth all this?

You can have the bonuses the same way the rest of us melees get them. When you're wielding your melee weapon (in your case, unarmed). I lose my bonuses if I pick up a pistol or rifle (plus gain the 2.5x penalty), and I'm a master melee. So why should you be special?

1) Our specials have to be within 16 meters from target. No other proffesion except melee has to have that, and they dont have the 2.5x mod in there proffesion.

You also have 3 times the range we do, and higher damage, and an incurable DOT. If you choose not to use specials, then you have 10 times the range we do.

So no, our situations are not similar in any way.

3) Instead of the mod on flame thrower they should have reduced the range at which it is affective to say 40 meters or less. The DOT should take into account armour so that if wearing full composite you dont get much damge over the time.

I can't help but notice that you don't mention that some professionshould be able to remove that DOT.

I can only speak for melees. And I say yes. When heavy weapons were changed to "ranged", I lost my defensive ability to absorb damage from them. I get hit twice as hard after the patch from these weapons. Why doesn't that bother you? It sure bothers me.

So now I hit you twice as hard as well. That brings things back to a more even level. Sure, there are issues with the solution, but on my end it was a HUGE nerf and then a HUGE buff bringing things back to a semblance of normal.

Commandos are a hybrid class, it takes much more time to get there than a melee profession, and also takes more skill points. A hybrid profession should not have to be equal with an elite class. I'm sure BHs feel this way as well.

Who's saying you should be equal? You have 10 times my range.

When we do get into melee range, however, I'm going to wipe the floor with you. Because if you want to compare points, you spent 29 in melee compared to my 92.

I am sick of seeing Commandos appologizing for being Commandos. Don't appologize. We have to Master marksman (forwhich we receive no extra bonuses once we enter the commando class) and we have to master unarmed to unarmed IV( which apparently is meaningless ). We deserve as a class to be ass kickers. We have to work for it. We have to use an ungodly number of xps to get to Master and if you master there isn't much left to do anything else. This nerf is plain and simple an attempt by the devs to get the rifleman and the other whiners off their backs. Oh and we are justa "support" role character. Give me a friggin break.

Caelria, to use our flamethrower, which is the only weapon most commandos use we must be very close, most of the time it is melee range.. and if it's not you can easily run up to us. This goes for the HAR as well.

Put the flamethrower away and go fight in PvP with unarmed for a while. You've forgotten what "melee range" means.

Another troll comment. We are commandos and fight with our weapons. How about you go out and get pistol IV and fight with that instead of using whatever melee class you have mastered? That's just a stupid statement.

And a correction on the part of anyone using the term melee range. When I have to wait for you to get within 16m for me to fire my special, with a /aim for it to have a hope in hell of hitting, PLUS stop to fire, we are easily fighting within melee range.

If they want to make the rest of our weapons viable? Fine. Right now we are crippled.

Go troll somewhere else Caelrie.

Actually, I haven't forgotten what it is. What I said was that flamer range can easily be made into melee range, seeing as how we have to beplanted in one spot for a reasonable amount of time to use our specials.

Do you even have a working definition of "troll"? Cause it sure seems like you just label anything you disagree with as a troll. Humor me, give me your definition of the word.

My comment was dead on. You have Unarmed 4 as a commando. Fighting unarmed is within your abilities. Fighting with a pistol isn't in mine.

So go do it. And keep doing it til you remember what "melee range" means, because that's another definition you're fuzzy on.

Melee range in PvP and PvE is very different because of the fudge factor. Most commandos are saying that melee range in PvE is the same as there specials, and for the most part they are right, as its about 10-12 for PvE from the fudge factor.

Yes we have do have melee 4 in our skill progression. My point is anyone with melee shouldnt have the 2.5xmod on them. If as a brawler you were required to pick up a skill thats not from the brawler tree wouldnt you want some benifit from that.

You do get benefits from it. You get intimidate and warcry, two VERY powerful abilities that I use daily.

I know you will never see the point of anyones arguement because your mind is set. All I have to say is if someone wants to fight and they have fist and you have a gun ummmm the gun wins 9 times out of 10. Its just a fact of life.

This argument was tired 3 months ago. Even in real life, a knife will sometimes trump a gun. And this isn't real life. This is a game, where balance sometimes requires the suspension of belief.

I do understand brawlers are upset because they have very few options when attack from afar. Well you picked that proffesion. You are a brawler or swordsman pikeman what ever. If they took the unarmed requirement from our proffesion I would be happy with the way things are.

Unacceptable. The answer to "why are melees gimped?" isn't to not be a melee. Melee professions are in this game. That means they have the same right to balance as you do.

It looks to me like the way that balance is going is that ranged people are one by one losing their ability to take damage, much like a caster character in any other MMO.

And that works fine for me, becuase I pictured the commando as SWG's fireballing wizard anyway. Apparently, so do the devs. Hits HARD, but needs someone else to do the tanking.

All those responses but still ignoring the fudge factor for PvE melee range comments? Which is the whole problem I believe. And you can not say it doesn't exist as the Devs have said it does (and admitting they have a problem is the first step to recovery!)
