Ok, here is my dillema. And I'll be bumping this till I get some intelligent reponses (I know you mature players are here) Whether you agree or not is fine, but some feedback would help me understand this better. I simply dont understand how a Master pistoleer with novice commando is more capable of using the launcher pistol than a master commando. It makes 0 sense to me how the weapon that is suppose to be the backbone of the commando proffession is more suitible for ANOTHER proffession. Pistol specials should not function on the launcher. The weapon should have it's own specials and it should be in the commanod tree of skills. Heck the devs could cut corners on this one and simply rename it to the launcher cannon, andgive the launcher pistol some similar specials that a novice pistoleer would have. I dont need the dmg upped, or the speed changed. I just want it to be so that a Master comando is better with his own weapon then a novice. Becasue the way it is now.....it's a shame.

Um, throw away your LP and get a Flamethrower like everyone else, you'll be happier.

I like using the pistol specials with the LP, because some mobs are vulnerable to Blast dmg, and shooting them every 2 seconds for over 2K dmg with Fan Shot is worth it.

I totally agree with ya. We can use the Launcher pistol but we can't better with it. Even if you are a Pistoleer you can't use the Launcher pistol to get better with it as it grants Heavy Weapons XP, so they have to switch back to a regular Pistol and earn Pistol XP to earn specials and mods that make the Launcher Pistol better to use. This makes no sense at all.

I reckon it would be good to let the Launcher pistol use the pistol mods and specials in the marksman tree and then give it more in the Commando tree. But not let it use Pistoleer mods or specaials.

Then it would be a commando Weapon.

I'm hoping the devs are fixing this. Its not fair for other pistoleers to go against another one who has novice commando cert for LP's.

This is amazing....us Commandos were pissed because LP's didn't give HW xp....now the Pistoleer's are pissed because they do....oh well.

GET OVER IT.......it seems like unless everyone is equal as far as damage / speed / and in general every skill, NO ONE WILL BE HAPPY.....oh well....this is NOT Planetside. or....HALF LIFE.....or....any other game that is a shooter....this is not of friggin first person shooter....you can't just pick up my weapon and kill me.....done deal =)

Excel in your style of play, and you'll be fine....

Get over it? Sorry but that's a lame excuse. Re-read my post, I'm not asking for more power or more speed. Im simply asking that a weapon granted to commando's be more suited for THAT proffesion than a pistoleer. Period. If a pistoleer is better with it then the weapon cert might as well be given to them instead of us. And yes, I do use my flamethrower but often times that launcher comes in handy. It's like giving a novice swordsman a weapon cert that a master chef is better at using...just doesnt make much sense.

Because as a pistoleer, you LEARN how to do all those useful shots! You actually use a pistol 24/7 and become better with it, just like you SHOULD be doing with your commando weapons. I'm amazed that pistoleers can't use EVERY pistol in the game! Why can't they? Why could a pistoleer not learn (cert) how to use a scatter or launcher pistol? Especially since the launcher pistol (I can't confirm this on the scatter pistol) uses PISTOL modifiers, learned using regular pistols! Bounty Hunters have a tree dedicated to their pistol, so they get special pistol attacks. What would you give up to get better with your launcher pistol in the commando tree? That's the question you need to answer!

The best of his class at secret training grounds on Yinchorr, Kanos was an expert at the echani fighting form and in wielding a force pike. Kanos' fanatical loyalty, though, was his greatest and most dangerous weapon. Even after Palpatine was defeated at Endor, Kanos and his fellow Royal Guardsmen remained true to the Imperial ideal. As Imperial moffs and admirals began greedily carving up the Empire to fuel their own ambitions, Kanos attempted to uphold the codes of the New Order.

My dream is that they'll combine the FT and HAR branches and add an LP branch in. At that point, the LP would no longer use pistol specials, just the specials from its own, dedicated line.

The only thing the LP is good for is your first 2 or 3 skills into the flame thrower tree. After you get Flame Thrower spec 3 all you need is a FT. Since the patch that fixed heavy weapons i haven't use the LP. No need to.

The LP is not meant to be a main commando weapon. It is meant to earn you that first 300k heavy weapon xp so you can become proficient with the real main weapons of the commando. If you want to be good with the LP, you have to dabble, just like any other profession in the game. On a side note, I feel, and have always felt that a pistoleer should be able to use ANY pistol in the game, but the pistols that aren't certed in marksmen/pistoleer should have thier own set of specials. That way a pistoleer can use one of the profession specific pistols, but won't have the benefit of the improved specials.

Yeah the LP is nothing more than a backup gun, to help out early on or when you need some fast firing. Its a pistol, so it uses the pistoleer skilltree for its skills and accuracy/speed bonuses, makes perfect sense. If you want to excel in LP skill just bump up your pistoleer skills, but as said, its not the commando main weapon so why bother? The accuracy given from the marksman tree is perfectly enough to handle the weapon in those situations its needed.
