Hey all,

Trying commando out, and was looking for tips to level.

I know if I get a group going on an "adventure planet" I can get pretty decent weapons xp, since it's based off damage done.

I've heard, but can't seem to find info on using grenades to maximize combat xp.

Any tips from master commandos?

Thanks in advance.

To use grenades for combat xp, just find a nest in the wild, not a mission nest, kill the mobs. throw a nade to tap. Kill all the mobs that pop. Take the nest down to 60% with more nades. Kill all the mobs that pop. Take the nest down to about 5% with nades. Kill all the mobs that pop. Destroy nest with nades.

I found the best ways to level commando and make money solo are dewback missions in tatooine. They pay pretty good (5-6kish each), and each dewback you take down is 3k HW xp. Also, hit the squill caves, 3k per squill if you do enough damage (I use mostly flamer). I worked out the combat xp, and if you're going for master commando it shouldn't be too hard to get the combat xp you need. Flamethrower tree is 1.2 million HW xp, Acid Rifle is 1 225 200, and Heavy Support Weapons is an even 1 mil. Worked out at 10% for combat xp is 324520 combat xp. Now, with Field Tactics I believe is 340k combat xp (full tree), 20 more than all the trees will give you combined. Shouldn't be too hard to get that extra bit. Personally I've found grenades useless. So far the best xp I've had are dewback missions, or get a nice group and hit Lok, Endor (amazing xp there), Dathomir or Dantooine, and either hunt or run missions. Great xp there (I personally managed almost 100k on acid rifle 4, and heavy support weapons 1 and 2 in a few hours this weekend on Endor). I hope this helps a little.

I'd like to chime in with agreement to the ones who say that 'nades are overrated for a commando. It's generally very, very easy to get the combat side of the commando tree as you hunt your way up. My alt commando would just get as close to a full set of buffs as he could (Dancer/Musician buffs are always a problem), slap on his 80% Kinetic armor and just go hunting on Endor. The exp is great, the monsters are a lot of fun (pigdogs) and since the missions got nerfed down Endor's actually not generally all that crowded.

Thank you much everyone. I also read the guide at the top of the sticky list.

GO TO DANTOOINE!

I would suggest Dantooine for a Novice Commando to work up to Master. There are many creatures that give good XP, but don't DeathBlow. I have been leveling solo on Dantooine without armor or doctor buffs. Here is what I would suggest:

1. Start with Lesser Plains Bols. They are super easy to fight. They are not social, so you can fight them one at a time, without the whole herd attacking you. If you have any scout skills, you can harvest the Herbivore Meat and sell it to Doctors. Lesser Bols are really too easy and not much XP, so just fight them until you get an idea of how your Commando weapons handle. Once you are used to your new weapons, you can move up....

2. Skip huurtons and go straight to quenkers. Huurton missions start with 3 adults and several babies. It's too hard to pull just one adult at a time. I always end up getting attacked by the whole group. Quenker missions start with only 2 adults, so it is very easy to separate them and fight just one at a time. It's also a little easier to move around quenkers. You have to be pretty close to aggro them, so you can take your time getting set up for the first shot. Huurtons aggro from a long ways away, so you end up getting attacked before you are ready. Quenker missions pay about 5000 credits each and Savage Quenker missions pay more than 6000 each. (Savage Quenkers are slightly harder because they have a ranged attack.)

3. Do not fight voritors unless you can Cure Poison. It's not worth it. Voritors aggro from a long range, so stay far away from them.

4. Once you get a few boxes in Flame Thrower, you can fight harder stuff like pickets and bols. They have a hard time turning and changing directions, so if you run around them in a circle while you are fighting them, they don't hit you as often. Pickets and bols both drop Herbivore Meat, so you can make a little extra cash from your harvest.

5. Bol missions are hard because there are 3 of them to start, and they group together all the time. You end up fighting several at once unless you are very careful to pull just one.

6. Picket missions pay over 9000 credits, but I have found that in the amount of time it takes to do one picket mission, I could complete about 3 quenker missions. Picket missions usually have 3 pickets to start, so it takes a long time to pull one away from the rest of the group. It's much faster to do the quenker missions.

im a pistoleer with the first tier, im going ot end up having to give it up so im not grinding it any more. Even if i could i'm rather poor, and dont want to spend very much money on doctor buffto go hunting on adventure planets.

When i ground out pistoleer i made roughly 300k a day on 10 missions. Yes i ran a lot of them. But i also did pistoleer in about 2 days. Oh for those that are curious grouping for higher level missions then hunting solo is faster to gain xp. Doc buffs pay for themselves in just one mission on an adventure planet. Its well worth the investment.

Endor : Gleaming Lantern Birds 9k + ham, heat vulnerable (so flame single 1 and 2 do huge damage) usually 1 of each to kill em in about 15 secs without damage to self if have high kenetic resist armor and buffs

10k cash per mission

approx 7 x 3000 hwxp per lair

2 lairs per trip from the base

use buffs and armor...

leveled to 3343 in three days... and made a horde of cash at the same time.
